I think that all of us Rouge members should wait and see what happens around Christmas. They should start showing their appreciation for us by then at the latest.  If we still don't see anything special by then, that's when I'm gonna call it quits.  Not even going to try for Rouge anymore.
THIS!

I wondered when they'd rethink their policy on free shipping, many ppl are breaking their orders up ridiculously to get more freebies!

I would think one free shipment with no minimum order per day would be pretty fair...

I hope they pay attention to demographics when deciding this. The nearest sephora is almost 4 hours away and I'll be quite upset if my perk is an invite to a store event. No event is worth a 7+ hour round trip unless there is amazing gifts.

I just feel that Rouge to them is nothing special. Or maybe it is for certain people/customers. Like the Marc Jacobs meet and greet that I learned of by Facebook. They made it seem like ALL Rouge peeps knew and got to enter for this. I know I surely didn't even know about it! And if it was for a certain area then they shoulda said that. They made it seem like peeps won this. Maybe just me..but if they are not consistent or fair to everyone then what is the point?? I may not be able to attend an event because yes it might be too far but I would at least like to know about it. And if your going to give "full sized" gifts to one it should be across the board. And for spending $650 more than a VIB status I felt (so far) that I got better stuff for making VIB than VIB Rouge. Sorry but a lipstick is not better than 10% in my opinion. If they are having issues or problems with free shipping then don't offer that. Plain and simple. I feel that for $1000+ if people want to make 3 small orders a day then they should. It's not like the samples they get are not free. Also they are getting money of some sort when an order is placed. To me that is a big chunk of change to spend for cosmetics in one sitting. And I know myself I am sure it is over that amount. Again I am sorry for rambling on. I just feel (for me so far) that sephora hasn't valued me as a shopper as much as they have others. I am not saying I need to be given this and that but to hear others get "more attention" is really sad. I hope that the holidays they prove me wrong. But if not my money will go somewhere else and I won't try for Rouge next year.

+1 to this. I like it when companies try to wow me vs just trying to post ads that I will get sucked into. I feel like there are marketing

strategies to maximize profits and others that really value customers and know that sales will follow. I hope Sephora chooses to wow us more because I love them and really want to be wow-ed more often:)

I agree, I kinda expected more perks from Rouge, but maybe it will take a while since it only started a few months ago.  So far the only perk for me is the free shipping which I could have gotten for $10 with Flash.  I don't live close to a Sephora so the unlimited Beauty Studio or invited to an event will not do me any good.  And after hearing someone was flagged for too many small orders, I'm worried about placing to many smaller orders now.  I'm hoping the perks improve or I won't try for Rouge again.  It's not worth it.

I'm not put off hearing someone's account got flagged for excessive small orders. It's clear some people are abusing the system to rack up tons of free samples (which is probably why the sample selection has been kind of iffy lately, although there were some great options when I put in an order today).

I agree. And since Rouge is still relatively new, I'm also willing to wait a bit longer to see them iron out any kinks before deciding whether it's worth it or not.

So, I'm about $200 away from Rouge status and I'm trying to decide how close to Christmas I need to qualify to get whatever they send out for Christmas (if anything!). I wonder if qualifying during Friends and Family / VIB week will be too late?

I heard about a Rouge member getting her account flagged for putting in too many small orders, getting an ordered cancelled, then had her discussion thread on the Sephora boards closed when she aired this out, and that just put a bad taste in my mouth. Plus putting out 250 point perfume samples that used to be 100 point samples is ridiculous. I'll be spending my money at Ulta for a bit, I'll wait out and see what improvements Sephora can make.

Wow! That could be me. I just put in a $3 order today simply because I wanted the samples. If you aren't going to honor free shipping no matter what the order costs, then don't offer it! They could have easily said 'free shipping at $15 or $25 for rouge members.' THEY are the ones that set the rules. Punishing someone for taking advantage of that is crazy! This Rouge thing may make me LESS loyal to Sephora, not more. Thanks for passing along the news. I'd not heard of this. Sad!

I don't feel like I'm abusing the system at all. I ordered a Tarte holiday set for around $25 and then maybe the same day or next day I learned Josie Maran had put out a set I wanted for $29. Those are fair orders. I had ordered the Hello Kitty pink polish for $3 in another order. So, I ordered the mint/blue color today to get samples I really wanted. I tried the Cherry Escada perfume in a card sample and loved it, so I really wanted to try the vial. I also wanted the Benefit sample. I don't think a tiny order now and then (which they'll just stick in a bubble mailer anyway for cheaper shipping) is too much to ask. I'm very, very upset to hear someone had an account flagged without knowing further information. It would have to be really excessive to be justified, IMHO.

I have a feeling they only flag people for excessive misuse, like if someone places 5-6 separate very small orders a day to rack up on freebies/samples.

I hope so. I have probably put in 2 or 3 orders in one day since Rouge came out, but if I did 3, at least 2 of them would have been for $25 or $35 to use a promo code. Honestly, I want to use a promo code now, but I also want to wait until I see what is offered for Fan Friday. If it is better than what I want to order, I may get it instead. However, I was afraid to wait until tomorrow to 'order' those 2 samples that I really, really want to try. I was afraid they might be 'sold out.' I've had it happen to me before. So I'll probably place an order for $25 for a Clarisonic brush head replacement (always good to keep backups on hand) and use my promo code. If I get extra samples of Benefit and Cherry Escada, great, that's a plus. But if not, I won't be too upset if the samples are terrible because I've already gotten what I wanted to try. Once in a while should not be considered an abuse to me.

I think making a couple of small orders is fine, but more than a few in a day is excessive. If someone was ordering 5 or 6 low price items a day for a couple of days just to get free samples, then that's abusing the system. That's why companies stop offering things like free samples. I have a feeling this person didn't just do it once or twice.

She called to ask why her order was cancelled. She mentioned she put in two orders -- one for $30, one for $14, and the $30 was cancelled without any notification even though it was still being sold on the site (the thread was deleted, so this is going off memory, but I believe she had to go through her order history to look up its progress), so she called and was told that her account had been flagged for too many small orders. And the rep refused to place another order for her on the phone and insisted she go online and do it herself.

Granted, people are probably taking advantage of their free shipping to get samples (I've done it a few times), but it doesn't change the fact that Rouge members have spent at least $1000 at Sephora-- they get samples for free and their shipping costs are probably pretty minimal, so is it really worth antagonizing people who are clearly loyal customers?

Again, if they had problems with people abusing the system, they could have easily stipulated some limitations in their terms instead of advertising free shipping for any order. What's too small an order? $1? $5? $10? $20? I don't like feeling anxious that my next order might get me in trouble with Sephora.

Who was flagged? I don't think they care about multiple orders of $25, that really adds up. Plus, a Rouge member spends a lot at sephora anyway so it seems like a good idea to have them order more frequently. The only thing I can see as problematic would be if someone was placing a lot of small orders, like a few dollars, repeatedly. The other day I placed a six dollar order, but I've also placed two orders that were over $50 in the last week or two.

I got an invite to the Baublebar event... over four hours away. Sorry, but I'm not driving 4+ hours for an event, nope.

I've heard that some Rouge customers are sorted to the events list based on proximity and some are sorted to freebie list. If this means I never get the promised "just because" gifts, I'm not gonna be happy.

I too sit and think will my next order could it be cancelled?? I have made 2 small orders(not in one day but in a week) along with bigger orders. So I would LOVE to know what is considered a "small" order. One of those orders was a $12. Is that too small for sephora? The only reason that it was placed is because two days before I made an order and then the next afternoon I got an email about the item that I wanted was back in stock. So I placed and order for that b/f it sold out again. And no matter what I am ALWAYS going to use a code to get an extra sample. I will hunt until I find one. That goes with any place I shop. I understand peeps that will abuse but really is anyone abusing it that much?? I am sure none of us on here is abusing the system. It is quite clear that we (as shoppers of sephora) love makeup and love samples. If we didn't we wouldn't be rouge. To take someone's status away for making orders is think is a bit ridiculous. Yes I know it's a new program. Yes I don't think someone should place 10 small orders a day just for samples but I do feel that they are not being fair. How about (don't hate me here) they either have flash shipping or Rouge with free shipping and not both. Maybe they would not have issues with samples and other small orders.

I seriously wouldn't worry about it.  Everyone is getting stressed, but I think it is totally fair for sephora to revoke someone's rouge privileges if they are actually abusing the system, and I don't think the occasional small order will do it.  We don't know how that person got their account flagged, as they didn't actually post here and someone only posted what they had heard, but we know that people are making a bunch of $1 or $2 purchases to rack up on freebies (like the recent kat von d set) just so they can sell it on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xsephora+kat+von+d+vib&_nkw=sephora+kat+von+d+vib&_sacat=0&_from=R40)  Which to me, is a pretty *sshole move, as it prevents other VIBs from getting the set and is pretty greedy. (I am definitely not talking about people who ordered a couple extra to give as gifts, fwiw).  We know from shows like extreme couponing that people like to abuse any kind of freebie/deal system, which ruins it for everyone.  (Just to cover my bases- I am not against people couponing, or taking advantages of deals, because obviously that's what they're for).  Just remember that there are a lot of people in this world who are extremely greedy, and if you are worried about a few small purchases every now an again, you are not one of them :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
