Just hit rouge, don't know whether to be disturbed or excited by that! It happened because I was stalking the re-appeared Cinderella palette all day today and instead found the Sephora prisma metallic eyeshadows back in stock so I scooped those up and a buxom lip color.

I just wish they would keep a certain number of extras in stock for VIB members and then maybe twice that number for Rouge members. I know most who redeem 500 points are going to be at least VIB anyway. But it would be possible for someone to spend $500 across a few years and just save the points. By the time I realized what the point system was, I think I had over 400 points. I'd probably made purchases across 3 years for that. Haha! Such a light spender back then. I need to spend far less than I do at Sephora, but they just keep getting such great stuff. I may have to join a 12 step program. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Oh, and it looks like somehow I snuck in an order for the BB set. I'm hoping it will show up or I will be very mad since the computer let me check out with it.

I'm picky too. But lately they've had stuff I've loved. I redeemed 400 points to get 2 Urban Decay lippies, 1 Dior lip plumper, and 1 glam glow facial treatment. Then I got the 500 point Laura Mercier set and the 500 point Bobbi Brown set (assuming, of course,it ships out ok). I have never, ever seen them put out so much stuff I liked all at the same time. I think they're trying to be more impressive this year with the Rouge level being released.

I ended up just saving the points for a future order and shrugged it off. I also try to be choosy about redeeming my points and so far I've yet to get any of the 500-point bonuses. They always remind me that it took me $500 to be able to have it as an option, and while of course no item is ever going to be worth that much, it's usually enough to change my mind and make it feel not worth it. I'd rather gradually let go of 100 points here and there than 500.

HeatherHicks. hope it works out.
Thanks Bluelion. I generally agree with you. Overall, the 100 point perks catch my eye and I talk myself out of the 500 pointers. I expect a $500 pp to be worth as much as 5 of the 100 pointers, and that doesn't always happen. Actually, it doesn't *usually* happen. Even if the 500 pp is technically worth 5 100 pointers, there will be 2-3 things I don't like so that makes me decide to skip it. I got the Laura Mercier set because I really wanted the lip gloss and the fan brush. The only fan brush I have is a crappy ELF one. Though the handle is short, I LOVE the brush head itself. The primer and facial scrub will be useful. I did want to try the SPF tinted moisturizer too, but maybe not as much as the gloss and blush. I think it came with a face powder too. So, 2 products I really wanted, 1 I kind of wanted, and 3 I knew I could use. All items were a decent deluxe size as well and you almost never see 6 products in a 500 point set, even if 1 of them is a brush. The Bobbi Brown was all makeup except for an eye cream and I do love eye creams. If I don't use it, my mom will. I am suffering from the loss of points a bit. Now I'm going to have to get serious about hoarding points again. But if these are the kind of 500 pointers they intend to release, I'm going to be in trouble. I don't regret it, but it does hurt to see the count go down so much in about 2 months' time after you spent years building it up.

I'm a scientist, so I ought to know better.  The perks are the reason I stick with Sephora. And it has to be online so I get more free stuff.  If I used my head, I would not be Rouge and shop at Ulta where they give me dollars off which is probably the better deal.  Oh, well.

I'm the same way. I love the extras I get when I order from Sephora. I usually order $50+, so free shipping too. Plus, in the local stores here, the artists at Sephora are nicer than those at Ulta. They usually ignore me at Ulta. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I usually get ignored at both stores unless I walk around with my phone in my hand, obviously comparing products in-store to websites.

I also think that Sephora has much nicer brand selections vs what's in Ulta's prestige section.  I would shop at ULTA more often if they carried brands like MUFE, NARS, Bite, etc.

If I ask a question at Ulta the ladies look so annoyed and act like I'm stupid. They look at you like ewww why are you talking to me. They also seem to hide and run away. The two around here are huge empty stores you think they would try to get people to come back.

I dont like Ulta for many reasons... the top 2 being that the points expire if you don't use them and also, what good are 20% off coupons when you can never ever use them for brands like TF and UD.

Anyways, that's why I dont shop too often there.

I'm a complete Sephora whore but I totally cheat on it with Ulta. I only shop online and have never been to a store but have always had a great experience. Ive had an issue or two and the customer service was great and super easy to work with. To get the same service, I usually have to ask for a manager at Sephora and I hate (hate...did I mention that I hate) their inconsistency. But I'm still a sucker and shop there way too much. Guess Ulta is my piece on the side. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The girls at my Ulta are nice but they dont know jack about any of the products.  I was shopping for an eye shadow palate (in the prestige section) and the girl literally said to me that all eye shadow was the same, some just cost more for the name.  Just last week I asked a question about the difference between 2 Elizabeth Arden eye creams and 2 different girls just stared at the boxes and then said something that was the exact opposite to what was on the front of the box.  Oh and I cant forget about the ad that came out with the new BL makeup line on the cover...I went to the store and asked where the new BL makeup was and the girl says Butter London doesn't make makeup!  Of course, there was a half aisle display about 5 feet from where we were standing.  SMH.

Everytime I go to Sephora those girls know everything about everything, even if it was discontinued or online only.  It's like night and day.

I generally agree. If I try in store, I am almost certain to be disappointed with Ulta. The only thing I do like is the gifts with purchase online. Sometimes you get 2-3 gifts with purchase (like they had with SKYN products recently--had to smack myself in the head to resist ordering that one). Also, you can obtain gwp's with different brands in the same order. If the gwp is offered and you qualify, you can get it. Sephora still limits us to 1 code. Yes, for Rouge level card holders we get the free shipping for even a $1 order, but if you want to use a code, it generally requires $25 in merchandise or more. So if they have 2 promos I am dying to have, I still have to spend $50 across 2 orders to get them both. I don't know. There are nice things about both systems, but I really enjoy racking up those gwp's when I do order from Ulta. In fact, that is about the *only* reason I'll order from Ulta, except for things like Laura Geller or Pur Minerals where Sephora doesn't carry the brand.

Ulta is okay. I usually just buy OPI from there or stock up on necessary items like cottonballs and pointy q-tips for eyeliner cleanup. Sometimes they do have really good deals. I got an introductory DevaCurl set with a full size no-poo and conditioner, a travel gel and travel something else (can't remember what -- styling spray?), a towel, and hair clips for just a little under the price of the no poo and conditioner. Not too bad.

I don't know if it was on here or the Sephora Active Codes board, but someone had mentioned where some ppl that are Rouge were getting a full size freebie with a note attached from Sephora.

Someone actually got a high-end lipstick that they didn't order, Sephora just sent it to them with a note saying Thanks for being VIB Rouge.

Something to that effect.

Has anyone else received anything?  Up until today, the only thing I ever got besides free shipping (which is nice) is an extra sample thrown in.

But when I got my order today, it had a full size D&G mascara in there!  No note, nothing mentioned on the invoice, nothing!

It's not like I got someone else's order either.  I ordered everything in there except that.

At first I thought, ok maybe instead of throwing an extra sample my way they're now going to throw a full size item every now and then.

But, I'm kinda thinking this had to be a mistake.

What do you guys think?   Surely, they wouldn't give this without mentioning something.  Right?

Ok - I'm rethinking my email preferences. I turned off auto download because I was starting to act like one of Pavlov's dogs every time I got an email. Then I got this at 12:30 but downloaded it at 1:15. When I called it was sold out *and* the waitlist was full. Argh!

That is pretty cool that you got something like that!  I am really getting sad to see all the extra stuff that people are getting being Rouge.  I myself am Rouge and I get nothing special.  Shoot I barley get emails which makes no sense because I have my preferences set to get everything.  I was so excited to be Rouge and thought it meant something special to Sephora but apparently it is only for certain people that get special stuff. We shall see how the rest of Rouge goes because as of right now its not something I am going to strive for next year.  I just feel that everyone should be on an equal level.  We all have spent money to get where we are.  Sorry...just ranting a bit.

I know, they're starting to annoy me. I heard about a Rouge member getting her account flagged for putting in too many small orders, getting an ordered cancelled, then had her discussion thread on the Sephora boards closed when she aired this out, and that just put a bad taste in my mouth. Plus putting out 250 point perfume samples that used to be 100 point samples is ridiculous. I'll be spending my money at Ulta for a bit, I'll wait out and see what improvements Sephora can make.

I agree 110%!  On their FB page, they came right out and said that some ppl might get perks, while others get Rouge invites and so on.  They said that different ppl could get different things.  I don't think that's fair at all.  And quite honestly I think my perk was a mistake.  If they're going to throw you a bone, there should be a note attached.  So I think someone just goofed on mine.  This is the first thing I've seen, and I don't think it was meant for me to get.  But I'm not gonna complain lol

I think that all of us Rouge members should wait and see what happens around Christmas. They should start showing their appreciation for us by then at the latest.  If we still don't see anything special by then, that's when I'm gonna call it quits.  Not even going to try for Rouge anymore.
