I need foundation help again. I purchased the Hourglass Illusion which on some days I like and others I feel I look awful aka older. I got a great color match from the Sephora SA so, I have been happy about that. However, if I build coverage, I look like the tin man. I feel like it highlights big pores and my fine lines.  I have used primer, no primer (looks the best), used a brush, blender, fingers, etc.  A few times, it looks so nasty, I have removed and started over.  So, I have really given this a chance.  Today, I mixed it with my Estee lauder daywear light foundation to get the coverage without the spotlight on my aging/big pore areas.  it looks good but, I would rather keep looking.  I don't mind trying foundations.

Anybody love their foundation?  I could go back and see what has been mentioned before but, I am lazy.

I didn't get color IQ matched at Sephora. But, I noticed on my purchase history, there is a color IQ number from the Hourglass purchase (1Q06). Has this helped anyone buy foundation on line?

You can get a color match online using a foundation color that suits you but the color code doesn't always seem to be accurate on the foundations they've paired them up with.

I'm debating if I want to renew my Flash right now... I think it's useful, but I'm on a no-buy for quite a while and having the option is always sorely tempting. I don't want to lose the option to renew, but maybe this will prevent me from hoarding stuff XD But I don't want to give up the option for flash...i just don't want it to waste away for 6 months while i'm not buying so i can use up what I already have. What to do :X

Thanks @@SaraP and @@tweakabell - I did plug that number in and I wasn't sure if I could trust the results. One foundation description said it had cool tones yet I was told I was neutral to slightly yellow at the Sephora store. Another choice read Medium with Olive tone. I wasn't sure I can trust ordering with this.

@@SaraP - In the winter my skin is dry. I get a little oil on my big pore nose. Its not enough to worry about with a foundation. As long as I don't look powdery or dry, I will try anything.

This was the issue i had the matches it was giving me all looked too dark and nothing like the foundation I had given for reference

It seems risky. There is a way to adjust the color IQ number lighter or darker but, it just doesn't feel accurate because it may just be the tone. @@tweakabell did you get a chance to try the YSL Fusion Ink sample in Almond. I can't remember if it worked for you. That's the one I got. It was a little off for me. I am going to check Sephora to see what they suggest for me in this brand.

Edit: Nothing in the Fusion Ink. The Le Teint Touche Éclat it says Beige Rose 40, Light to medium complexions with Rosy Honey Beige undertones.

This one covers just about everything. Pink, Yellow, Neutral.

Even if you don't use it for the next 6 months you'll still only be paying $1.66 per month for the months you'd use it...

I'd recommend Dior Pore  Minimizer under your favorite foundation. It really fills my HUGE pores and keeps me matteish with out drying. I pump a little into a empty sephora sample jar because once it drys out a little it works really well for hiding pores and then use product from the pump for the rest of my face. (Not sure if that is helpful, but I'm super oily and have no clue about foundations for dry skin...)

No buy the time I was ready to order it was sold out. If I keep having dry skin issue though I might have to look for a more hydrating foundation. That annoys the ever-living crap out of me because it took forever to find my HG and now my face is being a brat. I swear if it's not one thing it's another

It's tough. The lighting in most Sephora's is atrocious for color matching by eye. With the color IQ, I've found that the results can really vary depending where on your face / neck they are placing it. They once gave me a color code with reds in it, because they had scanned the usual areas, which happened to include the parts of my face with acne scarring. You can point out to the Sephora beauty adviser which parts of your face / neck you are hoping to match. That gives better results, I think.

Then there's the issue of not all the foundation colors really matching whatever IQ number has been assigned to them...

Does this have a moisturizing feel or silicone feel to it? I haven't had the best luck with straight up primers. They almost remove the moisture from my moisturizer if that makes any sense.

@@ZeeOmega - I agree with you on the lighting. I found it quite dark in the store.  I was really skeptical about the SA putting testers on my jaw area and coming up with a match. The light/mirror she had me look at wasn't so great either. We ruled out the ones that were too light and I went with the one I couldn't see. Suprisingly, it worked out. I didn't have the official color match thing done.

@@tweakabell - What's your holy grail foundation?

My HG is Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Full-Coverage Foundation in Light Sand. It is as close to an exact match for my skintone and is light enough that I don't realize I'm wearing it. I also do not have to handle it at all i can just put streaks on my face straight from the tube and buff it out with the brush. If you have dry skin though I'm not sure it's appropriate, on my oily skin though it's perfect not shiny doesn't slide off, nada.

Edit: for tenses
