Lol Ulta hates you, I dont believe how long it took for your xmas gift.

Has anyone gotten their mini tarte powder yet?

 
I think Ulta can have great GWP, but Sephora used to be AMAZING. I've been shopping at Sephora since 2003 (not like I do now- I'd just buy "must haves" like Orgasm blush and Lancome mascaras, stuff like that)- btw I miss so many of the brands they used to carry, like Anna Sui! Anyway I digress- as they've gotten bigger, their codes have gotten less and less exciting. 

The points program is BOGUS a this point, too. Which is why I shop Ulta whenever I can- I can deal with something taking a week to get to me, and it seems like they're ALWAYS doing 3x points.

Bur really at this point in my life, I avoid GWP (esp foils) unless it's something really amazing because it quickly became a hoard when I first started making $1 Flash orders. 

I have been purchasing a lot these last 6 months from Neiman and Nordstrom. They take a few days to get to me and their returns (esp Nordstrom IMO) are just as easy as Sephora's.

Sephora gets my business for two reasons, as weird as they might be: The ease with which I can quickly order (really, think about it!) and their photography. I don't know, Sephora has a way of photographing items that makes things I never looked twice at before look soooo appealing (also, Neiman REALLY needs to work on their swatches. i don't want to see a color, I want to see the actual product, like every other site!)

IA, sephora's pictures are GORGEOUS. It bugs me a little when retailer pictures/swatches are nowhere near true to colour, but I know colours will show up differently on different screens (total nightmare when I was redesigning site layouts at work and what was a nice true purple on my screen was NEON PINK on my manager's) so I'll only use how they look on my screen as a general idea of what it may look like.

 
I saw the flash promo on musings of a muse site before coming here.  Signed up, maybe my orders will ship out faster now?  

I think this has been my biggest "gripe" about flash and rouge... flash members almost always seem to get their orders shipped out faster and arrive faster, while rouge shipping has seemed just as slow if not slower than being non rouge.  
I also signed up for Flash.  I'm curious to see whether this speeds up delivery of my orders, too. 

With Rouge 3 day shipping, it still takes about a week to receive my orders (due to processing time, I guess?), so I am definitely seeking an improvement.

 
Fascinating. I had a Sephora cart full of stuff, ready to Flash ship it, and then I got the Ulta 20% off coupon...

Sephora was my intro to mid/high-range makeup, but I'm finding that I can often buy these products for less money through other sites. I doubt I'll re-Rouge this year.
@@isabelfromcali - Double check the fine print on the Ulta 20% of coupon - I believe the one I received excludes prestige brands and fragrance.

 
I have only been into the makeup thing since May, but I have to say that even before Flash, I wasn't seeing much benefit with Rouge over VIB. 

And Flash absolutely cheapens what little benefit was there.
That's me too! May last year! Tell me you're in your 40's too so my happy dance can turn into a rave and we can pm our experiences!!! (I hope that didn't sound 13ish going on 8 LOL!).

 
GASP!!! I have been waiting for this day. I was offered flash when it first rolled out but I didn't get that it was like amazon Prime and ignored the email.. And I never was able to get it despite my efforts.. Best day ever!
Ummm...so you work at SiJCP right? I heard an employee at SiJCP tell a customer they could order into the store for them...first is heard of it and it was about two weeks ago or so.

1. Is this new?

2. Is this true? (Ok this question should prob be #1 hahaha)

3. Can't you order through work (even if not true for customers) since you work there?

4. Don't you get like mountains of gratis every month? (Ok this one is totally none of my business but I'm sooooo curious!)

The store manager at Ulta asked me to apply there, and I did, and never heard back. Now I don't see her there anymore, and she recently had twins so maybe she isn't there anymore (she was back after the twins, but now I don't see her at all) but she said they get so much free stuff it's insane. That's my dream right now, to have a second job around makeup and be on a gratis list!! I keep hinting to Algenist that I would be their brand rep if they'd let me, I don't want to be paid, I just want free products for me and my 300 MUT friends, and to spread the word that their products WORK!!

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but I turned a Lancôme brand rep onto Algenist because I was sharing pics of my before and after. She caught me loading up on foil samples, so I cried poor and showed her my pics. She then, too, grabbed a handful of samples herself!! I ran into her again a couple weeks ago, and she recognized me and told me she was starting to notice an improvement with her wrinkles too! Lol!!

This is so annoying. I have a true high def screen on my laptop so ill edit pics on there then go upstairs since a program i need is on my desktop and the pictures are so different.
I'm not saying Ulta is perfect, their CS is awful and shopping is slow I just get more bang for my buck.

Sephora gets prettier exclusives and more of them and has higher end brands. I'm just saying that i can get mid brands at ulta/macys and higher at fancier department stores. It is also ridiculously easy to place an order.

Just looking at perks in the beginning of last year to the end of last year their codes went majorly down hill.

I'm anxious to see what this year holds as to if they shape up or continue the doWn slide.

@ maybe the SiJCP employee meant ordering the item to be delivered to the customer's address? It seems like that would be more convenient for the customer, especially if they live in an area where it's quite a distance from any sephora. I know my freestanding sephora has offered to do that for me before with no shipping charge. They can only do it if you pay with a credit (or debit?) card though, so I couldn't take them up on it since I had been planning on using birthday cash. Not that the free shipping really mattered either since the item was $65 lol, but I appreciated that they offered to make things easier for me to track that item down.

 
Heh. I'm going to "try" not to get banned. However, I just quit a sample service and I can sense impending Flash abuse in the near future.

I say that and the place an order fire the three scoops of sexy. The tarte code glitched and i got to add all three colors to my cart so well see if i get all three

 
Didn't we have the ysl Rouge code (and others) in January last year? Other then the Tarte code nothing has made me want to make a purchase. Don't get me wrong I've made them, but not specifically because I wanted a promo. My guess is that Rouge will be worse then last year, unfortunately.

 
The promo codes have definitely been getting worse, sigh. I remember 2 years ago I'd want to make a purchase at least once a month just because of a code (I particularly liked the dior one with a mini perfume, mascara, and ???), and then last year the only purchase I actually made because of a code was during Father's Day(?) with the 4 perfume minis. Everything else has just either been something I'm not interested in or "oh.. Ulta had that for free last week..."

 
OMG WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY SKINNNNN!?!

I've had oily/comgo skin all my life but this winter I have been SOO DRY on my cheeks and nose. I have no idea how to deal with this my normal moisturizers don't seem to be doing anything!
