So during the 2x points skin care promo, I shopped for things to send to my son who is deploying in the next week or so, and when he is overseas his skin takes a beating. He breaks out really bad, etc. Anyway, I was about to box up this item and close his first box, when

@  You crack me up!

The water on the bases is so heavily chlorinated it wreaks havoc on their skin, hair, everything. If they have issues on top of that, it's a nightmare. I have 2 nieces, several nephews and randomly adopted Marines and soldiers I sent to over the years. Most of them are stateside now, but it was challenging trying to send stuff that would help!

If you need any more skincare stuff for him you can come raid my gift closet, I need to start getting rid of stuff.
Ok I don't want to violate a MUT rule, but does the phrase you scratch my back I'll scratch yours mean anything?? Lol! I am literally, as we chat, sorting and organizing my stuff. I'm also chatting with a friend and sent her a pic of my mess! And the sheer size of the undertaking...I'm waiting for her hilarious words of wisdom with how to proceed! (Ok just joking about that part, but hilarious friend if your reading this...feel free to guide me, brain. Is. Stuck. Got through the first sort though!).

I have it divided into Algenist, skin care samples (foil), skin care d/s and some random full size skin care too. Then all things hair (shampoo/conditioner, oil, masks, samples, backups etc.); then makeup is divided into palettes, shadows, then samples, d/s, backups and also Lippies and liners etc. too; then all things perfume including perfumed soap and lotion.

Now I need to further break it down. But not today, I'm tired now!!

Flash literally makes Rouge absolutely worthless.

As a Rouge beauty insider, I can only say that I really hope Sephora ups their game. I have no reason to try to re-rouge, and honestly, beauty week gifts are getting more and more tempting...a single deluxe sample doesn't hold a candle on 20-40 samples with department store sales.

Sure, there are brands I only buy from Sephora - and I'll keep using Sephora. But the Flash shipping promo is actually better than the rouge one, and at only $10 - well, I just don't feel incentivized to spend $1000 anymore. I'd rather divide my money between Barney's NM and Sephora :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
Yup. I'm happy for everyone, but I'm also sort of furious at how they treat Rougers, especially in comparison to VIBs and even BIs. To me, this is them saying "we don't need to treat Rougers live VIPs" because they know they're going to have a lot of extra spending from everyone having free shipping. $5 more a year is nothing. The issue is the promises they made. They're not going to up their game, so they should probably just do away with Rouge and apologize instead of continually insulting us with false promises.

I know I sound grumpy as hell, lol, but I have Strep Throat and an ear infection and I HATE false promises :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I think Sephora had (despite the fact they should have had the numbers on it) set the spending minimum for Rouge too low. From what I've read of Rouge events and online sales, it sounds like there's quite a lot of them. However, they've set the precedent and probably can't change the minimum. But who am I kidding? It's Sephora. Making people shake their heads and boggle is probably some hidden quest in their mission statement.

My last rouge event was months ago, same with a rouge only code(sorry we got early access to sale a month ago). I couldn't imagine hitting Rouge at a HIGHER amount. Rouge isn't worth $500 much less $1000+

I was thinking about it the other day even if I spent all of my 1k during a sale event I would save $50 over a VIB (200 over 150) and I get $5 more off in Dec. Looking at my last rouge exclusive codes nothing beats anything I can get as GWP somewhere else (and they're all $35 purchase anyway) and there are other places that ship for free.

My urge to shop at Sephora is pretty much nil at this point in time. If I took that money straight to Ulta I'd get $50+ in points to spend on whatever I want assuming I didn't buy anything during a point multiplier sale plus $10 on my birthday plus their frequent GWPs. They also frequently send out 20% off coupons.

I'm not seeing the value people keep placing on it. Rouge means nothing to me right now, Flash killed the last perk.

I knew it!  I've always said Sephora are liars and orders aren't fulfilled as they come in like they claim.  I've always said all last year that Flash orders are fulfilled and shipped ahead of Rouge orders.

Today I placed an order after 12 noon, just one lipstick (the marc jacobs sheer lip gel in understudy).  Earlier this afternoon I got a shipment email, it'll be here Monday.

Ulta gives better rewards, as actual money discount, but they piss me off too much.  Samples are always missing, not as listed, gwp are frequently not sent (in my orders) and often don't match the promoted contents.. and they take for.ev.er to ship the order and to receive it.  I'd rather shop at Sephora and get my order quickly than wait almost 2 weeks for an Ulta order.

I do shop at Nordstrom more often the last 6 months though.  The gwp items never interest me, and they want WAY too much of a purchase amount for the gwp it is stupid.  Hey, spend 250$ and get a free couple foil packs!  Uhm, no thanks!  They take a while to receive once shipped too, but faster than Ulta for me usually.  And their returns are way easier than Ulta.

Sephora better figure out they need to step up their game on rewards etc for Rouge members..although it is obvious now that they don't care anymore about Rouge members.  They're after all the people who can't quite afford/want to obtain Rouge status, but will fork over 10$ for free shipping no problem.  They'll get a ton of those people this year for sure.

In other news, it has been confirmed by Sephora that the gift for re-rouging this year is a mini marc jacobs lip gel in "so rouge" color red.

Ulta is so slow, lmao but my Rouge orders were getting up there as well. It's a trade off but if I time my Ulta orders right I can get HUGE GWPs and pay very little.

Because I order midrange and not high end Sephora stands to lose me as a customer to Ulta if things don't change soon.

Eye shadows are my weakness. Palettes, palettes, PALETTES!! I look at the pretty colors, and put them together, try different brands together, lay all my brushes out and my choices the night before...I need good foundation go tos and illuminators etc but my obsession is absolutely eye shadow. I found some palettes today while sorting, that I totally forgot I had!! I can't wait to dig into them!!

I have only been into the makeup thing since May, but I have to say that even before Flash, I wasn't seeing much benefit with Rouge over VIB.

And Flash absolutely cheapens what little benefit was there.

Fascinating. I had a Sephora cart full of stuff, ready to Flash ship it, and then I got the Ulta 20% off coupon...

Sephora was my intro to mid/high-range makeup, but I'm finding that I can often buy these products for less money through other sites. I doubt I'll re-Rouge this year.

Ulta for me has extremely poor customer service and doesn't carry my top brands like Dior. Sephora is starting to make me sad with their lack of perks. I'm thinking of making a pretty big shift of spending to Nordstrom. To be honest though, I haven't received too many perks from them either though so that will probably just be temporary until Neimans opens here next year. Neimans gives the most / best GWPs in my mind. I have heard good things about Barneys too though.

I have to say even though Rouge is a load of fluff I love how easy it is to shop online there.

Ulta is a big pain in the a$$, my cart without fail ends up clearing out prior to check out. I know they have good cash back perks but it's not worth the hassle.

I love Nieman Marcus beauty department, free shipping and once you have purchased a particular brand the brand's rep will email you with gwps and new product info. I currently get emails from the Fresh, Laura Mercier and Nars reps. LM rep had me send her a photo and she sent me samples of a foundation and primer.
