no way i'll get my money back after 90 days in the downtown chicago sephora -- or so i imagine. i've never personally tried it.

I wish I was as lucky as you girls! When I tried to return an online order a couple of months ago (within the week it arrived), they were so rude and tried to act like they couldn't return from online at all.... Oh the joys of living in NYC!
Wow that sucks! Which sephora do you go to? I know the herald square one sucks with returns but Columbus circle, 99th and columbus and the times square one on Broadway are really good about returns.

It actually does bother me the way they're so uneven. It's a store-to-store policy, I guess. I'm sorry that happens to you. Maybe I'm given the benefit of the doubt because I've already spent like $2000 this year? (Don't judge me!) I'm shocked so many here have experienced this, because before I found this board I was on another major makeup board that also does trades and reviews, and when I asked if it would be okay for me to take back an online order over 90 days old, they all basically laughed and said Sephora stores have the most lax returns system in the world.

It bothers me too. This is just how you hear about some stores always giving free samples at checkout and others never giving... Or just like ar the rouge spring social events how some got the bare minimum and other stores were giving out tons of extra samples, make bags and other goodies.

That story was from the Times Square store (the one on Broadway or 7th... Not the one on 42nd).

That's my biggest issue with sephora as well: consistency. It seems things just vary so vastly from store to store whether it's returns, samples, or events...it just seems like it's up to each store to do whatever the heck they want.

Got a free sample of Josie Maran black oil argan mascara when I re ordered my hair products the other day. Wow! I am seriously obsessed. Grab this while they still have it.
Gah!  I want to try it so bad!  And I am obsessed with finding my HG mascara.  I need to place a Sephora order like I need another hold in the head though.  Le sigh.  #beautyhoarderproblems

Lol this is seriously my biggest issue right now. So many codes I want to use.....but nothing I need to actually BUY.

Maybe that was from years ago. I don't think they were as strict with their returns even like, 3 years ago, like they are now. I think they have actively been cracking down on abusers across the board over the past couple of years.  I.E. banning some people (especially rouge members! such an odd practice to ban some of their best customers) because they purchase too much (?!!), retaining TRE to track the no-receipt returns, etc.  They still have a great policy, but there are definitely lines that you should not cross, and I think they are cracking down more on those who do.

There's a 500 point Alterna set up now:

Maybe my Sephora's all have a very lax policy (but as I said before, MUA laughed at me when I was worried about taking a 5-month item back with receipt), but I went back after work and explained what happened, what usually happens, and although it was a bit of a challenge they way they did it (but sort of fun) long story short: I got my money back :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> This is just to let some of you ladies know that maybe yours is my lax than you think, as well.

When you spend $2500 a year on makeup (at least :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> ugh embarrassing), you're going to have some returns, and because I am not very mobile due to my disease, I usually just go through the in-mail return route. Any purchase I've returned in-store has been 1. Over 90 days old or 2. From the store

As an aside, they also let me return point perks back there if I don't like them.

Edit: Also, let me say that I would be even more fed up with Sephora if they were to change their policy, since Nordstrom accepts returns with receipt no matter how old, and if you don't have a receipt, they give you a gift card you can use in-store or online, and I've been meaning to post all the freebies I got from buying an $80 bottle of perfume at Macy's. Seriously, it totaled up to $150 worth of free stuff because they were doing so many GWPs/specials at one time.
I wonder if like many ladies said it varies from store to store.  I just made a return to my sephora and had one with a packing slip and another without a receipt.  The rep told me that their online returns are within 90 days and that I barely made it.  I looked at the date and explained that it was actually only 40 days since the purchase, and she replied "yeah but it's still close" (???) then told me that online purchases had to be refunded with an in-store gift card.  Which stinks because I live 4 hours from a Sephora but I was in a huge hurry and just wanted to leave.  I buy everything from Sephora online because of free shipping and the promotions so I wish they would let me buy a gift card with my in-store card.

Next time, before you leave the store, try this. Say the store credit is for $34. Buy a cheap random thing say for $3. At the register, also buy a $35 gift card. Then pay with the store credit. I've never been denied that. I always buy store credit at gift card places but want to use the credit online (for the reasons you mentioned).

It is a lot different than the others. It is not abrasive at all and just glides over the skin. I did not like it but I usually use the normal head. I might have not tried the final version since I tested it.
Nope, the final version is what I have.  It still just glides over skin.

--------

The best way I can describe what it feels like... hmmm.. like a kleenex-lotion version gently rubbing on your face.  I often times still have makeup residue a smidge after using it.

Just got it so have only just started to experiment with it but it made my lashes look very full and long. It went on very smooth which I know is a strange thing to say about mascara, but it did. I just really love the way it looks on :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
I agree.  I got mine in this morning, and put it on at lunch.  Let me just say, I have NEVER EVER liked any mascara by Josie Maran.  Never.  I so far LOVE this one!  It makes my lashes so full and lush looking, lengthened, and kept the curl all day.  It is after midnight now and it is still going strong.  It doesn't give raccoon eyes, smear, smudge, or flake, and no clumps at all.

If it does well on my walk tomorrow I'll be buying a full size asap.  I'm really glad I didn't automatically write this promo off based on brand.

Here's a really awesome promo:

ETA:  Although, I wonder if we will be able to make multiple orders and use the code more than once.   /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I hope we can.
