I definitely don't want it to seem like I was making a "threading is bad" post, because like you, every girl I've seen who has had her brows threaded looks AMAZING. It was just a bad combination for me! Also, thick/full/darker eyebrows represent!

I have always been afraid to have my brows done by anyone, for fear of them getting messed up and look stupid, but I have always desired to have them shaped by someone who knows what they are doing. Reading all the great comments here a few days ago gave me the push to go into ulta today and try it out. I had a lovely experience! The tech was very friendly and knowledgeable, she talked about how to find your shape and explained what she was doing as she did it. I couldn't be happier with the results, and it's immediately boosted my confidence in my appearance. Thanks for indirectly pushing me out of my comfort zone, I am very grateful for this community!

YAY!! I'm so glad you had such a great experience. I always, always, always advise people on getting their brows shaped professionally. It frames your entire face, they can make them so symmetrical, etc. Now that you've found a girl you love, hold onto her like you would a hair stylist! <3

I definitely will! The Ulta is right across the street from my work :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Now, as long as she never quits/gets fired/or moves away, I'll be ok. LOL!

Have you tried to change your email address? If you don't have another one just make a gmail account and once you start getting Sephora emails to the new account you can change back to your real email. It's worked for some people.

I seriously think this was a combination of me being especially sensitive to the thread (my eye skin is very, very thin and fragile I think?) and the girl having no idea what she was doing, because I've only ever heard similar stories online one or two times. I'll never have them done again because it has caused me an irrational fear & I love my eyebrow girl anyway, but I wouldn't be scared at all to try it unless you have VERY sensitive/delicate skin there. Also, I seriously could tell almost immediately that something was wrong, but back then I had a really difficult time speaking up for myself. The point is, you'd be able to tell IMMEDIATELY if something was going on and make it stop, which I'm completely sure wouldn't happen anyway. But yes, it was AWFUL.
Nah, my skin can sometimes be a bit sensitive to say, chemicals- but the only problem I've had with eyebrow area (like waxing, plucking) is some breakouts if I don't take precautions to avoid it. Perhaps I will give it a go- I very much need someone to fix me brows- I'm frustrated with them currently. (WHY WON'T THEY JUST GROW THE SAME WAY?!?!)

Y'all, this isn't the topic to discuss animal testing issues in China and how you feel about it. If you would like to discuss that, please start another topic.

I'm deleting the posts so as to prevent people from replying later on.

also, @mars007 we have a great cruelty free area of our forum that may be able to direct you to the dupes you're looking for!

I get my brows threaded at one of the malls here, before they actually got a cute little unit in the mall they just had 2 chairs out at a kiosk, it was definitely awkward with people stopping in the middle of shopping and coming to stare at you or ask you if it hurts lol. I usually go to one of the younger girls but the last time I went it was an older lady who thinned my brows more than I was used to, but I was SO GLAD she did because they suit my face way more. I was kind of upset at first since I have pretty sparse brows and they looked even more invisible than usual, but once I filled them with my usual eyeshadow in they looked great. I haven't been in a while but my brows grow pretty slowly so it's not much of a bother to save the $15 and follow the lines and just tweeze the regrowth instead.

I know that place!  Everytime I do the 'NY to DC' 5-hour bus ride...  I arrive, dust off, eat at the lowest level, where all the funky ethnic cheaper eats are, then I go and get my brows done there before I show my face in the capitol city where all the sharp looking people are (CNN's Pamela Brown... why does she get the brains and the beauty?!??!  Naw, I'm really happy for her, just doing the woe-is-me bit).

I'll be heading back the second week of April, good thing, eye brows are out of control!

Oh and the other day when I was getting matched for a foundation, the SA quietly said 'your mustache...'  I just about busted out laughing, never thought that the barely discernable slightest of peach fuzz was noticeable... but it was the second time that it was ever mentioned, first by the 'threading' lady in the Roosevelt Field Mall, kinda like everyone's experience, out in the opend cross-walk.  She finished brows and said "I can do your mustache for X dollars"  I never even thought I HAD a mustache, funny.  I kinda of sort of see it now, but my fear is that if I get it done, then it might grow back darker?

[@]FormosaHoney[/@]. OMG. no one has EVER. ever. Ever mentioned my lady stache to me. EVER. I usually just wax that at home since it's fool proof and cheaper. I know sometimes I am rocking a lady stache if I'm busy but I'm super horrified every time I look in the mirror and I think it's noticeable. I'll ask my boyfriend if he can tell and, bless his heart, he almost always says no. If he does say yes then I'll 1. Cry 2. Make us stop whatever we're doing so I can get a wax/ wax it myself. I have had the ladystache threaded and I just didn't like how it felt (a bit too intense). But I've been waxing since I was like 10 and I don't feel like it grows back darker or anything. My best friend in high school would shave hers... Yeah I wouldn't do that though.

What wax do you use?  Maybe the lady stache is a recent thing... but that photo I had up for four months, is a recent photo, so unless you are up close and expertly looking for it, it is hard to notice... but the fact that 2 people mentioned it in the space of 6 months when it has NEVER been remarked upon might be the world giving me a nudge, Haha...  Now I have a valid reason to buy SOMETHING!!!

Shaving seems like an awful idea.....I never thought about waxing though! I just use that smelly removal cream. It works for me and lasts like a few months. The pains of having dark hair everywhere...

NO NO NO! I would be absolutely HORRIFIED and DIE of embarrassment if anyone mentioned mine! That's SUPER rude!  I don't get mine threaded.. I wax and it's like it never existed!

I used to work at a nail salon (as a receptionist) so I know most places use Gigi wax and that's the one I use.  Some Harmon's/Bed bath and beyond carry them and you can use your Bed Bath and Beyond coupons! ;]

I used to use the Gigi microwaveable one - someone's the honey looking one sometimes the pink one. BUT that was messy and when I left for college I switched over to the prewaxed strips that you warm up with your hands. ALWAYS put down baby powder before waxing and try to avoid your skin from lifting!! Sally Hansen: I used to use this for a while. It looks a lot like packing tape. I never felt like it got melty enough between my hands so id blast it with a blow dryer. Nads: my FAVORITE. the wax is softer and I like the strips better (it's like cloth). I have never lifted with it and clean up is easy Gigi: these prewax strips were nice but they were expensive ($7 a box) and I could only find them at Sally's.

SEPHORA QUESTION : my game plan to day is to swatch swatch swatch foundations in SiJCP. It's smaller but they're nicer and more likely to make samples because it's so slow. If you were on a foundation mission, would you go out with a bare face? Just eyes done? All out/how you would normally?

I'd go bare face with just eyes done, and the moisturizer.  Otherwise they'll remove it with the make-up remover they have on hand with cotton pad, pushed down on that bottle with the flat top (I don't know - surface...).

@angiepang1e and @usofjessamerica thanks for the scoop on the wax.  I like the ready coated wax strip idea, will probably do that and yes I'll powder skin up first too!  Thanks again!

I personally would go with eyes done and my regular moisturizer on and my regular face primer. I worked at SiJCP over the holiday and when someone wanted theirs matched and they had makeup on, they would use a Sephora wipe to clean their face and then apply the primer/foundation. I'd rather just start out with the clean skin and primer I know that works for me since I would use that anyway.

Yuck! Our store uses the Sephora makeup remover wipes... I've done the makeup remover on the back of my hand a gazillion times but I follow up with hand sanitizer so I'm ok with it.

Are you Rouge? If so, there's a dedicated thread on the sephora boards for email issues that seems to be getting a good response from the admins there.
