Weird, considering that is the address provided on the physical hard copy I received as well. I'll probably just stay home. I had wanted to take a friend and make a day of it (Sephora, Lush, lunch) but now it's just me going by myself to look at makeup at Sephora. I can do that at home without wasting gas.

No but I think we assumed that good etiquette dictates that all guests of the same event receive the same treatment. I'm not going to take a guest now. Oh hey I'm gonna get a GWP but your not but please spend your money here with me anyway. It's rude and I'll not subject my friend to it.
Exactly!

But your guest would still get the discount right?  I think the bag is just specifically for people who have reached VIB and VIB Rouge or is it for all beauty insiders?  I know it probably costs Sephora pennies to put together a bag of samples, I'm sure they only pay for the actual bag the samples are in, but its supposed to be like a special bag for members.

I think it depends on the store. In the email it says only vibr gets the bag but after calling a couple of local stores, some of them say yes the guest will get the bag as well and others say no. So it's probably at the stores discretion.

Wow how cheap of them. I guess I could give my guest my bag but what bad etiquette I don't even want to go now

The girl I invited is awesome but flaky so now I'm hoping she flakes =) and I don't think 15% is something she can't get on her own two day from the event anyway.

I feel like I hyped Sephora and they let me down, I mean it's SINGLE use samples for petes sake not a full sized or deluxe items. Also I had to admit to someone that "Yes I did spent that much $$$ at Sephora and YES I still look like this
wacko.gif
"!

This is what pisses people off about Sephora, Clear Set Rules and Guidelines Please!!!! We will all abide and would be less prone to "Sephora stinks, but it's the only place that carries xyz"!

*End Rant...

The items I purchased to get the 5 free samples came today, I made 4 small purchases and now have almost a .5 oz of the fresh BLack tea mask, 4 single uses of the Givenchy mascara, Amorepacific cream, Caudalie cream and 4 Marc Jacobs foundation samples that are way too light.

Super excited to try the fresh mask!! And the value of these samples is $12.50!!

*FYI the Amorepacific cream is mismarked online it is .03oz not .1oz

Then don't market it as an event, market it as a bring your friend sale and still have no GWP. It's extremely rude to just expect a guest to be happy with what they got when other people were treated better. It's like a birthday party where only the best friends get grab bags, it makes no sense. The whole point of these things is to invite your friend to be treated like a member. Why would we invite someone to an event they could already go to?

That's REALLY annoying! Why did they make us RSVP for us and our guest if they weren't going to have enough on hand even when they have a count of attendees in advance?

Also, I have still not received anything about the event in my mail or email. I wonder how many people will find out about this when it's too late for them to change plans and attend? I see that being a bit of a PR mess for Sephora... Although hopefully it means easy shopping for the rest of us girls.

AGREE, that is lame. I RSVP'd my friend and she was all excited now I feel like a lame friend. I'll probably just give her mine, not like I need more samples.

My email showed up today.

Yeah, I agree.  I've invited friends to gyms or club and they had access to all the amenities.

I understand wanting to create buzz and exusivity but the executioin of that through not giving one's guest a low value samples bag is really only hurting themselves and not creating exclusivity and if it's mean to make a 'rouge' feel 'special' well it doesn't, it makes one feel duped.

Sephora's membership privilages and purchase limitations are so not inline with the norm.  The dinging and "surprise" no more online orders for you practice and these non-transparent promotional and marketing practices are just a little self-absorbed.  I wish they'd do some bench-marking with industrial best practices and execute thier practices in a first-rate global excellence that you'd expect a star-child of LVMH would...

You know go talk to Costco and Amazone on how to write a transparent policy, do proper demand projection and know how to shape consumer's purchases so that you don't have to use the 'stick' when your inventory runs low or when you are not meeting the profit margin you'd like.

I don't think an "event" implies a GWP.  Your friend would be getting early access to a sale, snacks and probably free samples in store too, just not the exclusive bag for members (and in some stores they will likely get the bag too).  They want your friend to strive to be at the level you are.  I guess I'm used to being let down by Sephora and other department stores so I guess I don't expect much from them.  I prefer to be surprised by  random generosity instead of being let down by my high expectations (not that expecting a goody bag for guests is high, its actually pretty low considering they spend virtually nothing on them).  They do usually run out of the bags within the first couple of days so maybe if they gave them to Rouge guests - VIBs would have less of a shot at them.  We all know Sephora usually has better online promos anyway, its no fun to go in store and spend over $25 not get a deluxe sample size of something.  And honestly, the 100 point perks are pretty sad, I mean I spend $100 to get a tiny sample of face cream, boo!

I received my package today w the cleanser spilt I called cs and was told they would ship one off today and to send the other one back the thing is I hardly ever have time to make it to the post office will I be charged if I don't send it back asap.

I think event implies a party and like others have said you don't give out party favors to half the group. If they are trying to get my friend to "strive" to reach rouge they better step up their game! I doubt her showing up and seeing me get 15% off and 6 one time use samples with have her shelling out $1000 big ones....I really do like Sephora and will continue to shop there but won't work to reach Rouge again. I will purchase when they have a good GWP or value set.

That being said I just went to Ulta with a friend and they don't possess the capability to make a sample of foundations or anything else!!! I've only shopped there for some of my drugstore items and shampoo/conditioner, but I've never been unable to get a sample at Nordstrom/Macys or Mac! I won't be purchasing anything higher end there.

Cool! It's not against sephoras rules to use these if you found them on the Internet? And also do you people know which brands at sephora don't animal test? Thanks

I wasn't saying the GWP is what made it an event. The closed door shopping, brand reps and snacks make it an event. They are marketing it as a so cial get together to invite friends to. Im saying if you want us to invite a guest they should be treated as we are. If I invite a guest to an event I have to RSVP for I expect they will be treated as I am. I guess I'm just appalled at Sephora's lack of social graces lol. I'm just annoyed and really glad I hadn't asked someone yet. I personally would have felt awful and now I'll just shop early online. I dont need more samples and if I'm not enjoying it with someone theres no point for me to head out. My small order for the 5 samples came in today. That Guerlain mascara is a good size. Same with the D & G lipsticks. The Tarte energy set I bought is adorable too. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Sephora really wants you to bring someone, they know 2 shoppers will make them more $$$ then one and I always find my friends to be good enablers!

Lol oh yea they do. Even if I take hubby he'll talk me into things I was hemming and hawing over. Its even worse when I'm with friends and turn into a giggly schoolgirl.

Just FYI so no one will be disappointed, the Cartier fragrance sample doesn't contain rollerballs.  They're just large glass tubes/dabbers - .13 fl. oz. each.  I received mine today and I love them!
