For those of you who were following my comments about the Bumble & Bumble VIB event in Long Island about 3 weeks ago.... Wanted to let you know Sephora yesterday sent me a very nice thank you note for my feedback. For what it's worth, I think they really are listening to all the feedback on their entire BI program. This is evident by the note I received yesterday and the chat they had with rouge last week. It's baby steps of course, but I think drastic changes like creating rouge without having it fully planned out are kind of the reason that they started getting a bad rep.Had this bag not lived up to the hype, I think people may have rioted. They were already very mad about having to make appointments. All this said, I still feel I ultimately did have to pay for it given I was forced to make an appointment to get it. I wrote to Sephora on Facebook, so we will see if they say anything or offer to give me back points.
I believe I have read on here that people have done it, so you should be able to.Question: Can you return a 500 point perk?
My hunch is that it had to do with the brands wanting to promote this sort of thing with *their* sales people. My understanding is that department store makeup counter people work for the brand (Clinique, Estée Lauder, Origins, etc.) rather than the store and make a commission. Sephora people don't.I don't understand why Sephora doesn't do more to have GWPs so they can compete with department stores. My mom never shops at Sephora for this reason (and she spends A LOT on beauty so I'm sure Neiman Marcus is happy Sephora doesn't do GWPs). Not only do they have great GWPs from basically every brand, they also seasonally offer great gifts if you spend a certain amount across their beauty department. Those gifts are usually cute, trendy, shoulder bags full of products across multiple brands.saks.com also let's you use like 5 coupon codes on orders, so you can get discounts and tons of gifts. Sephora needs to get up to speed on this.
Very good theory. The only thing is department stores typically have the same GWP deals online, where you aren't dealing with the sales people. My hunch is that it had to do with the brands wanting to promote this sort of thing with *their* sales people.
