Sometimes I think UPS uses the "adverse weather conditions" excuse as a general excuse for when they can't deliver a package on time for whatever reason. I placed two Sephora orders twenty minutes apart on the same day (Friday around noon). They both shipped on Friday (I have Flash) from the same location. One was delivered today. The other wasn't delivered due to adverse weather conditions in my town. It's 40 degrees outside. It's not snowing, raining, or anything. I'm not upset at all, I just found it funny that they used that as an excuse when this is the nicest day we've had in weeks and they found a way to deliver one package but not the other. Just say "Hey, we don't feel like delivering it today" lol.

On a another note, the Fresh Life rollerball smells amazing!

Agreed! A few weeks ago we were anticipating a big freeze (which was a huge deal since it never freezes over here) but it was the day before it was supposed to get cold, it was about 40-50 degrees out, sunny, and my package had been sitting in the city already for 2 days. Then.. "adverse weather conditions" popped up. If I remember correctly they actually ended up delivering it the next day, where basically the entire city shut down because of ice on the roads. I was SO CONFUSED.

I can't speak to anyone's individual expeirence... just providing a little counter-balance in the almost 'debate' I would think of the pacakge that does get delivered during 'adverse weather conditions' as the exception to the process.  Maybe that particular branch went above and beyond and were able to make deliveries, inspite of the crappy weather.

I think there's a lot of behind-the-scene- stuff that we don't see.  OP had mentioned when there's bad weather in succession, often deliveries are backed-up.  Having worked with logistics, maybe the 'bad weather' label is what they have for all delays, either from accumulated back-up over 3 days of 4 to 6 inches of snow fall or maybe a blizzard on that day.  In addition, the condition of the city that it is coming from also plays a role.

I honestly don't think anyone is deliberately deciding to slack for that day, especially keeping in mind that the truck load of parcels that they don't deliver today, just means that their entire following 4 days will have a 25% increase in delivery load due to catch-up.  They'll either need to move a little faster or work a longer day.

Compaines and employed are propelled by profit but need to balance that with safety as well.  Every single UPS guy that showed up delivering my multitude of boxes have all been hard working, cheerful and earnst.  I just can't picture even one of them saying "heck, let them eat cake I don't feel like going out today"  It's more likely that the company shut things down because they don't want the injury risk to their employee and the ensuing medical cost and even more delay if a guy is down for a couple of weeks due to ice-slip injury.

I find it sad & pathetic because obviously, they got a  FREE sample that they did not want and will sell it for profit.  Reminds me of scalpers.   Instead of letting someone else get it in their order FREE, they scooped them up so that they could sell it.

Decanting perfumes that was purchased to sell in a smaller format is totally different from what happened here.

I have lots of samples too - I don't sell them - in fact, they don't even go in my swap list as things to "trade" - if I got them free, they go in my "free with any existing swap"  list, because I feel that I got them free,   it isn't fair for me to try & use them as a potential swap item (again, this is just me...)   or I package them up as extras in goodie bags for my family & friends  or  I will  donate them.   .    Things that people paid for, such as their sub boxes, and they have an overstock of items - that is also different.  They paid for those items.

But I've seen it before where there is a *hot* free sample and folks will just grab them, with the intent of selling it on ebay only.

I am just telling you what I would do and why I feel this way.      I am not attacking anyone here, and you did ask :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

i agree in that i'm not a fan of people snatching up popular free samples solely for the purpose of making a profit on it by selling to those who actually want it, although i think if you get something for free with a legitimate order or gwp or whatever, i don't think there's anything wrong with trying to sell it.  if you're entitled to get something free with your purchase, i don't think that obligates you to give it away for free too, especially if there are people willing to buy it from you - i wouldn't expect someone to refuse to take any samples just bc they might not use them.  that being said, practically speaking there's no real way to differentiate between those people in the market, so it's all kind of a moot point.  just my two cents!

I think it's more along the lines of 'wrong' to get samples just to sell them but I don't see anything wrong with selling things you won't use.. I have things I need to sell from QVC sets bit it's because I didn't love the product but loved the rest of the set. I just bought two beauty items in the past week that I know were parts of sets or BB samples.. I always look at what else they are selling and kind of feel relieved when I see other familiar beauty items from recent boxes.. I feel like they are a fellow hoarder with extra stash and I can trust that it's authentic. Plus it saves me money.. Win/Win.

I never stated that there was anything wrong with selling things that you purchased that you won't use..geez.

I was specifically making a comment about a free sample that is a hot item that people will *get* to sell on ebay.   Backing out of this thread now, as people are just twisting what I wrote.

Oh no, I was throwing in my light hearted random thoughts.. I think others were doing the same, not attacking you.. At least that's how I read it. Stay! It's all good.

I wasn't attacking you either, but you used pretty strong language with "sad and pathetic". I'm not condoning selling free samples on eBay, but I just wanted to point out that people who do are also welcome at MuT (bc let's face it, BB is technically a company that sells free samples too). how do we know that the person selling their Juicy perfume sample didn't pay ~$2 for it via BB rather than getting it for free? and to say this service isn't valuable for people who can't obtain samples other than buying "free" ones on eBay is a pretty insensitive perspective because if people who sell them are sad and pathetic, then people who are "dumb" enough to buy them must be moreso

I agree with posters who said there is a big difference between "scalping" popular samples and selling free samples that you acquired but have no use for. For example, for awhile those KvD sample bags were free with no minimum purchase and then they were showing up on ebay for like $15 and the sellers had a ton in stock. I would say that's like "scalping" samples and that is obviously wrong (but not illegal? IDK).  If I placed an order and chose the free buxom gloss as my freebie, I don't think there is anything wrong with selling it to someone who will use it.

With that being said, the tiny amount of money I'd gain would not be worth my time -- however, to someone else it may be.

Above all I think it's important we can have these kind of conversations sensitively. We are all entitled to our opinions and none of them are wrong!

So, I thought my Sephora order would come today, but I just checked the tracking and it's scheduled for tomorrow.

OMG you are making it hard to wait until Chick Week! lol.  I do have one of the YSL glossy stain sample cards being delivered to my house today. Can't wait to try it!

I have one of the L'oreal shine stains that I got as compensation from the L'oreal testing panel and really like it. If I like that, I know I'll love the "real thing" that it's imitating.

Hey- not on topic at all, I know, but how long do I have to get my bday freebie? My birthday was the 9th and I'm sad that I might have missed out on it :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
I think you should still be ok to do it now--I want to say it is sort of two weeks before and two weeks after.  Sign into your account online--if it lets you add it, you are ok--if not, and you have a store nearby, they will probably give it to you anyway.

yes, I do think it is sad and pathetic when it is that use case only.   It seems to me that people are bringing out other types of cases, and I wasn't referring to those instances.   The attack statement I made was that everyone was now throwing in the kitchen sink with other cases, and that isn't what my original statement was referencing AT ALL.    How MuT wishes to run their trade/sell boards is not an issue to me and I was not making a statement against MuT either.

That is my opinion and people who purchase those items aren't dumb, they just missed out because someone decided to scoop them all up.   As I stated, it reminds me of ticket scalpers.  They grab up all of the good seats and then resell them, not for the price they paid for it, obviously.  I have no respect for people who do that.   That is just me and your mileage may vary.

Sephora did do some banning of some users at one time, citing that abuse of the freebies to resell.  It ruins it for everyone.  It is my opinion and if I wanted to use "pretty strong language", I would have done so.  I am specifically talking about scalpers here.  I don't know how to make it any clearer

BB works with vendors to promote their items, hence a huge difference from someone making tons of $1.00 orders at Sephora to get the buxom lip gloss so they can sell it at ebay.   They are denying other customers the chance to get that sample, who probably will use it.   Obviously they wouldn't not do this if they didn't have free shipping.  And yes,I know of someone who does do this on ebay - she isn't a member here.

You are correct, we do not know who does this.  But my opinion was based on those that do.   I didn't realize that my opinion was going to start a shitstorm of epic proportions.  I am really backing out of this thread now,as I don't want to get banned over something as silly as "my opinion is different from yours".  You have yours and it is correct to you.  I have mine and it is correct to me.
I think your points are valid and I find it very valuable.  Whether I agree with it is inmaterial.  I like diplomatically expressed differences of opinion, that's after all why we are here, to exchange our thoughts.  I learn from people that think differently then I do.  I'll throw my two cents in too, but it was not my intent to cause any ill feelings.

Some opinions will easily parallel most, some will no...  I hope that you do stay on the board.

I think that the MUT board is a one-dimensional communication mode and if we had met over hot chocolate or coffee as a 2:30 break, slipping out from our work day, we would have exchanged looks, glances and smiles that would have indicated that this was really a good will - albeit high-spirited discussion.

I don't remember specifically, I do know we've had good discussions and I'd for one would be happy if you'd stick around!
