Answering someone's question about Ulta sampling stuff into jars like Sephora--no they don't. I work at ulta...we don't have any of those empty containers and we don't sample. Sometimes in the salon, the esthetician will maybe give some face product in one of her little cups but that's it. IF your Ulta has a Lancôme or Clinique counter, a lot of times they will sample foundations and stuff out. Lancôme gets little samples to give out, little eye creams, mini lipsticks or mascara, mini face primers etc. they are definitely deluxe sized
As far as asking for samples at ulta when you check out--I'd ask. Usually the things we get are GWP's. But a LOT of the time we have extra from an old ad ( for example, people who were buying benefit products for the past couple months, I was giving them a benefit makeup bag, because we had 50 left and it wasn't a current gwp) If your stores are anything like mine.
Sometimes we are sent fragrance samples (the easiest thing to get if we have any), and sometimes we are sent random things that don't have a barcode. These are the things I give out--if someone asks me for samples they are usually gonna get fragrance, maybe a small cleanser and any other packets we have (murad) especially. Again, I don't know how other ultas are, I know a lot of cashiers can be very stingy for some reason
