I've tried some exuviance samples, and am curious to try more. How did you contact Neostrata to get those samples?
I just emailed their CS at [email protected]

Ah! Thanks for that idea! I got the lavender spice scent and I'm in love. I couldn't figure out how to use it I didn't want to burn it down so I'll probably crack it into pieces for my tart burner.

I know this isn't exactly what this thread is about but figured I'd post it vocalpoint.com is giving away free full size samples of a new Olay lash serum.

Heres my stock email. Copy and paste baby!! Lol A friend of mine told me about your products and I'm very interested in trying your products and was wondering whether or not you would have a small sample to send out to me. Id like to try them before i buy full size products. I understand if this is not possible, but if it is, my contact information is located in my signature below.

I straight up just ask if they have samples and how I go about receiving them. But if its a company I REALLY want to try I personalize it to them and turn on the charm so to say.

this is a bit off subject but does anyone know how to delete  post or thread?

I tailor/personalize each email I send out since I only write to companies that have something that I would really like to try. It takes a while, but it's one way I control my sample hoarding ways. I tell them my skin type and issues if it's a skincare company or coloring if it's a makeup company and I mention that I'd like to try a sample before buying a full size online.

This is exactly what I do as well :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I have really sensitive skin, so I mention that in my emails to companies.  I say that I want to make sure that I don't have a reaction before buying their product online.  I also tailor my emails to companies by listing specific products that I would like to try and asking for suggestions for my skin tone/ sensitivities.  I definitely get a better response and more samples when I do it this way instead of sending them a form email.

Thats a good idea.

So I sent out a few requests yesterday and today.  I got a few yes's and a few no's but nothing from anyone you guys haven't already listed/contacted except for Dr. Lipp.  They told me no, they do not make sample sizes, but gave me a link to where you can buy their full size full price lip balm on the web.  I thought that was sort of rude, because the whole reason I was asking for a sample to begin with was to try the product before buying full size.

Please note I do NOT think all the no's I received are rude and do NOT feel entitled to samples (in fact, I will pay for them where asked to as long as the price is reasonable), but I felt Dr Lipp totally missed the point.  I sent this in response and will see what if anything they say back:

Hi,

It actually does not help to know where to buy your product online because I am at a point in my life where I do not buy products I have not been able to try beforehand, as I've had far too many experiences where I buy something and it does not work for me. Do you have any retail locations or any other way where I might be able to try the product before purchase? Or, is there anywhere at all that your product is offered in a smaller size than .507 oz?

I do not mean to be annoying but this is a product I truly would be interested in buying if it does work for my lips and I'd love to be able to try it somehow. If not, thank you anyway for your time and emails.

Thank you,

Kate

So here are some no's:

Suki

Shea Terra (super nice though and will give 30% off your order if you call them). Ended up ordering the product I wanted on Amazon for cheaper even with the discount due to free shipping.

Gloss Moderne

Dr Lipp (and kind of rude)

Costal Scents (though they said to check back as they do offer samples just not now)

Coola (told me they have samples in store and their nearest store is very close to me so I will probably go check it out)

Amor Pacifique (told me they have samples in stores but nearest store is 50 miles from me and I have no car so that is a bust which I told them)

Will post a list of yes's in a few days when I hopefully hear back from a few more companies. So far have heard 'yes' from 10 and 'no' from the 7 above so I feel like I am doing ok. However, I still have probably 20 requests outstanding...

At least Coastal Scents didn't tell you to subscribe to Ipsy.

Can't wait to see your list of yes!

Ok so my first samples arrived!! They are from living proof and were accompanied by a cute handwritten note.  I had asked for the restore conditioner and shampoo, and they sent those AND restore mask treatment, nourishing style cream, restore targeted repair cream, and a prime style extender.  I am really pleased with this as they obviously took some time to think about my hair concerns and what to best send. If I like these products at all I will probably make a purchase.

The living proof samples were awesome! They sent me more than I asked for too. Plus, the CS person who put it together wrote out suggestions on how to get optimal hair with those products. I'm happy :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
