So I got an email earlier from Martha Tobin @ Jane Iredale - said they do not offer samples.
That's odd. I got an email from Martha Tobin saying she'd send me samples. Customer service is so unpredictable.Originally Posted by plutorayz /img/forum/go_quote.gif

I emailed Korres for samples, but they told me to go to my nearest Sephora.

Wow.
I admit, I'm sort of shocked at how upset some folks are getting over companies' sampling policies. While I do agree that it's very frustrating when given conflicting information from multiple CSRs, I don't see why someone should be upset at a company NOT providing samples, or providing alternate methods of obtaining samples (in the examples of "go to Sephora" and "we work through Birchbox", perhaps the reason they recommend these routes is due to the cost of mailing?) Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I have this weird belief that companies are actually in business to make a profit, and if they have a business plan that does NOT include shipping out free samples to anyone who requests them, as a capitalist, I can choose either to purchase from them or not; it's not really worth my life energy to get upset that they do not provide free samples via mail. Unfortunately, many companies have gotten "burned" by free sample "junkies" who will overwhelm even a targeted promotion, then witch when supply is exhausted. No ROI there, as many of the free sample "junkies" fully intend never to purchase, you know?
Just my two cents. Do I like free stuff? SURE, who doesn't? But I also don't feel it's worth my energy to get upset when I don't get it.
I wasn't referencing your post in specific, just so you know.Originally Posted by Souly /img/forum/go_quote.gif

Exactly; those were the ones where I said a complaint is legit--miscommunication from a CS is totally a legit reason. Hell, maybe I'm too laid back--I don't even keep track of contest wins anymore, because so often those never arrive. When they do, I get all excited because I've usually forgotten I won, you know?Originally Posted by yousoldtheworld /img/forum/go_quote.gif
Yeah, I certainly don't expect that any company needs to send me samples. The only way I'm going to complain is in the case of Caldrea - when they say they'd LOVE to send me samples, then send me a catalog and an order form. Yeah, a simple no would have been fine.
Or in the cases where CS tells one person yes, and another that they do not offer samples. If you run out, just say "I can't send any at this time" or "We've run out".
