Oh side note I finally did color iq. The rep that helped me was SO NICE....but apparently there are a whopping FOUR foundations that match me, one being bare minerals which a breaks me out horribly, and the other one an online only shiseido one. She did give me samples of the 2 they sell in store though so that was nice. Pale girl problems /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

It surprises me that many of the stores were out of product. Several of you commented on that. I wonder if Sephora is having trouble or closing some of their stores. It's not that hard to keep product stocked continuously. Just makes me curious with all the stuff going on, lack of gifts for Rouges, if they are tightening the reigns so to speak???? It just gets me thinking as I read through all these posts today. : )

I was a little surprised in store today but a sales associate told me in one instance that the manufacturer was having trouble keeping up with the demand - that was for a Nars liquid concealer my friend wanted.

...speaking of my friend.... She fell in love with the Hourglass lip oil today, but $42 was just way too much. Does anyone know of another similar product?

My thought on this is that the event took place on a Sunday, at the end of the month, which all also coincides with the end of a fiscal quarter. Reduce inventory to easily countable levels before a restock. Just a thought.  Oh, and not a Rouge, but I've been curious about your event so was living vicariously through all of you.

You maybe right, but to hold a large event in every store like this with some many Rouge out to spend money and not have products in the store, either they timed the event way wrong, what you are saying happened which is now that I think about it probably right, or something is happening. It seems they have tightened their belts lately and not giving out as much as they were a year ago. I have been watching and just wondering. . .I'm probably wrong! Who knows, I was just voicing my thoughts about and wondered what you all thought and glad you answered and offered yours! Thanks. I think I think too much! : )

I don't think Sephora is tightening their belts. They are expanding, including opening locations in other countries and shipping internationally from the US website. I think not having products stocked may just be the result of poor planning or being at the end of a financial quarter as someone said. By all accounts in business articles I've read, Sephora does very, very well.

I swear they "run out" of thing right before a sale and then they are back in stock just a few days after the sale....Just like the $1 cotton was "out" during the 5 sample promo.

I went to the one in yonkers, ny. BIG MISTAKE! I wish I would've been less lazy and went to the city. I chose that sephora bc I can drive to it rather than take the train. Honestly they really didn't have anything special. Like it was just like a normal sale. The samples were just the foil packets. The only thing I was happy about was the little bag they gave us. And honestly I thought the bag was bigger. There were no like "lessons" or anything at all! It was almost just like a regular day. It wasn't good at all.

The Sephora closest to me in driving distance is either the Manhasset, Roosevelt Field or Forest Hills, but I like the 5th Ave. one the best.  I always feel welcomed and the SA got it together.  The Sephora further uptown is good to, in all aspects.  

Usually when one of these events are going on, I'll make a day of it in the city.  Last time a fabulous MUT member met up with me (@jpark107) and then Chinatown dim-sum after that w/ 5 or 6 language partners and some cute tea house after that in Chelsea?

But this time, I just couldn't get it together enough past RSVPing...  I knew I was moving soon so I was on no/low buy, plus it was raining, plus there was nothing else planned.  But after May, I'll resume regular consumer behavior.

I like the sephore on 86th. The people there are really friendly and they have better samples. Next time I will definitely go to the city. I did buy a whole bunch of things lol even though the event wasn't good. What did everyone else buy? anything good and new?

You and I live very close to each other, lol. I went to Roosevelt Field.... I had a friend meeting me and that store was kind of the middle. Plus the manager there had told me there would be reps and I was afraid some of the others might not have reps. My friend went to Manhasset and she said she got absolutlely nothing on top of the foils and wristlet, so glad I didn't go there. I wonder what was going down out the Forest Hills store.... I debated on going. Into manhattan but I figured those stores would be more packed and sales people more uptight, so that is why we also opted for Long Island. I have to say, I've never gotten such great service as I did yesterday in a Sephora, so overall I do feel like I chose the right store. I do wish there were more reps giving out more samples (especially deluxe ones), but really there was no way to foresee that. I'm actually glad the Hourglass rep was there because I had on my list "play with hourglass blushes" lol and he showed me how great their line is overall. I also was extremely impressed by how knowledgable he also was about other lines. He used a concealer on my friend and she already had a Nars concealer in her basket. She asked him what the differences are and which is better. He was extremely knowledgable about the Nars product and didn't hard sell her off it, he told her the pros and cons of both and why he personally would choose Hourglass.

I got the Laura Mercier Secret Concealer, Clinique Toner, and the Buxom Brights and Nudes set. Later in the week I know I am going to pick up The Hourglass Immaculate Foundation...I swatched it on my hand and it was incredible...I haven't ever seen a foundation behave like that.

Have you tried NARS in Siberia? Pale girl too, and I was shocked by how well it matched.
