Do you think all the Rouge customers are getting a free lippy? I've been keeping a close eye on my mailbox, lol.

What makes you think this? I must have missed out on something, lol!Originally Posted by invisiblebike /img/forum/go_quote.gif

It's in the VIB Rouge welcome kit.
Ok, I know about that one. Already picked it up with my new card. I thought she was talking about something else. (I was hoping for something less bright red).Originally Posted by audiophilekate /img/forum/go_quote.gif

I am. SOME people received free lipsticks or skincare items, but now it's apparent they only sent it out to customers who spend $5000-10,000 in less than 8 months. (See a page back where someone received a full size Givenchy Le Rouge lipstick).Originally Posted by Heather Hicks /img/forum/go_quote.gif

Apparently it's causing unrest in the VIB Rouge community.
OH!!! THAT!!! I completely forgot about that. I don't care about lipstick, but if they want to throw a Dior Addict Lip Glow, Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment, or Tarte Lipsurgence my way...
FYI, Tarte Lipsurgence has peppermint oil and can cause chapped, dry lipsOriginally Posted by audiophilekate /img/forum/go_quote.gif

Oh I saw about the Givenchy, but I didn't know anyone had figured out how they were choosing who to send those to. Like I said before, it isn't so much that I mind them giving people who spend over $5000 something extra, but I do think they should make a separate level if they are going to do it. Telling everyone $1000 is the TOP (and I say that because they literally used the phrase to promote Rouge on their website "welcome to the view from the top") and then treating Rouge members differently is tacky. If you do a separate $5000 level, call it Crimson, for example, then people won't be saying "I'm VIB Rouge too and I didn't get it." They'll be saying, "oh, those didn't go to Rouge members, they went to Crimson members." Common sense. Apparently Sephora needs a lot more of it. I mean, why bother creating the Rouge level at $1000 if you aren't going to treat Rouge members the same? Granted, I like the free shipping. If I really, really want a sample or a point perk, I can just place a tiny order and get that sample or perk. Like, $3 sponges that are always handy to have around anyway. But yeah, I'd like the free products too. If they'd be more open and honest about sending it to people who spend like CRAZY (sorry, I'm stunned by $5k to Sephora in only 8 months) then maybe people would understand. Just IMHO.Originally Posted by invisiblebike /img/forum/go_quote.gif

wow i'll be honest... this has me pissed off about the vib rouge program. what a load of crap we've been fed if this is true. i totally think if you somehow are spending that much, you ought to get nice free stuff. however i'm not sure why because i'd imagine you own it already lol... i'm not totally serious as i can only dream of having that large a sephora budget even though i am vibr myself.Originally Posted by Heather Hicks /img/forum/go_quote.gif

It's mostly speculation on who's getting the free gifts. someone called the rouge line and asked about that -- apparently they had a limited number of promotional items available, and they generated "random" list of Rouge members to send them to. I'm assuming there will be more freebies in the future, but who's to say that one of the lucky Rouge members won't get another freebie next time round? I don't know, maybe they're keeping track of who got sent freebies for the next go round?Originally Posted by r4chel77 /img/forum/go_quote.gif

i got my extra points several days ago and they all check out. however, i had called the vibr line and the woman was helpful and really nice. i only called the vib line a few times because about a year ago, the woman who answered was ridiculously nasty to me, too.
I had that experience with the Tarte Lip Surgence crayons. I bought a holiday set of 5 of them and after using one it severely dried out my lips. I didn't realize what was causing my chapped lips for a few days so it kept getting worse. I ended up trading the other 4 since I knew I would sadly never be able to use them.Originally Posted by invisiblebike /img/forum/go_quote.gif

Tarte does have some pretty good products otherwise... I don't get why so many good brands put well-known irritants in their products.Originally Posted by Flowerfish /img/forum/go_quote.gif

I was VIB rouge from day 1 as well. Kind of a wake up call, actually. I bought a few big ticket items like the Mia and a bunch of replacement brush heads, so I'm sure that had lots to do with it. Still, I had NO IDEA I'd spent that much this year. I still like the free shipping. With their sale on, I picked up 2 lipsurgence colors I'd wanted for a long time. Appears now is my last chance as they are probably discontinued colors. I tossed in a $5 brush to get over the $25 hump to use a promo code and picked up a nice sample set of Smashbox primers as well. Not a bad deal without the shipping! But yeah, I'd like some freebie love too.Originally Posted by invisiblebike /img/forum/go_quote.gif

I think someone else was told that they decided who to send it to based on whether they qualified before Rouge rolled out. I know I was Rouge from day one, and I didn't get anything.
Someone on the Sephora Beauty Talk forums posted the letter they got. They said they got a really high-end skincare item, and they also admitted to having spent an obscene amount of money at Sephora this year. That's what led to the speculation that they're only sending gifts to people who spend $5000-$10000. Not sure how you wind up spending that much... Jeez. I thought I was crazy for having a $300 monthly budget at Sephora.
Did you manually add it into your cart, or did it just say they were adding it? The first two times I qualified for Rouge (see my above posts, eye roll!) it said they were including the kit, but it wasn't until after the 2-4x point week ended and they updated their system, and I made an extra $30 order, that I was asked if I wanted to add it into my bag, and finally got it.Originally Posted by Flowerfish /img/forum/go_quote.gif
It just struck me 2 nights ago that I never received my VIB Rouge Welcome kit in my order that I was supposed to get it in, or any order thereafter. Has this happened to anyone else? I have sent an email to customer service and am waiting to hear back.
Maybe not on makeup itself, but I bet someone who uses expensive skin care, hair and body products (and maybe for her partner and kids), buys a lot of perfume, has one of those hair removal things that uses the $50 cartidges, etc. could get to $10k. Those are items you might have to replace several times a year (at least!). Also, if you do all your shopping for these items at Sephora, I could understand how it would add up. For me, it's easy to figure out how I got to $1K, between stuff for myself, mom, MIL and 5 nieces! But unless I made a LOT more money, I couldn't imagine myself spending that much at Sephora.I'm still trying to figure out what the heck this woman buys that she spends over $10,000 a year on makeup every year.

I must be super lucky because they're the most moisturizing lip stains I've ever used.
What the hell do you buy for $10,000 a year? That's an average of $833.34 per month. I know I've already spent over $1,000, but a lot of that was my Clarisonic Mia 2, Clarisonic Opal, and replacement brush heads. It's only August, but I already feel Sephora-purchased-out. Everything is sort of "meh" when I visit the stores - well, everything that I can afford.Originally Posted by invisiblebike /img/forum/go_quote.gif

Some might be more sensitive to it than others, but it is a known irritant. It's particularly bad when A LOT of it is in "plumping" lipsticks. That tingling sensation you get when you apply lip venom or something like that? It's damage, and using it every day can break down the collagen in your lips.Originally Posted by Heather Hicks /img/forum/go_quote.gif
Oh, and about the Tarte lipsurgence, I've never had a problem with it making my lips dry. I can put it on at night, wake up, and my lips feel pretty moisturized, plus they still have color on them. Is peppermint oil the type of thing that only irritates some people to the point of drying the lips out?
I actually wound up with two. Oops. I had placed an online order and it was automatically added to my cart, and then I realized I ran REALLY low on my daily cleanser and needed to pick that up... So they gave me a rouge kit. I actually needed the card anyway since the online orders do not come with cards. I would try visiting your local sephora and see if they have any welcome kits just so you can get the card AND that fabulous lipstick.Originally Posted by Flowerfish /img/forum/go_quote.gif
