got my tote and samples - you're not missing out on too much.  the tote is actually pretty nice (way better than those cheap plasticky ones from last time.. this one is still plasticky but nicer).  samples are definitely one use type thing, like the typical 3 free samples you get with online orders. and two of them are skin tone-specific 

Wow. Your tote is way nicer than mine. I got a plastic version of their regular bag. ETA a picture of my bag & samples

i bought one of their birthday cake colored polishes last year and i really like them. they're one of my favorite brands beside zoya. if the sephora by my house could bring ciate back that would be nice.

That palette is seriously pretty. I just bought two palettes from the Balm sale so im trying to be good but that is definitely on my list.

Aww that sucks!  That was the VIB bag from November 2012 for me!  I like the bag because it is small and foldable but it is pretty wimpy compared to the one this go round.

I thought the bag was adorable! I was definitely excited about the bag and samples, but the samples were definitely nothing special.

I went to the Manhasset Sephora at the Americana Mall, got 6 foils and 1 vial.  Brand name's about the same as everyone else in New York.  The purchase requirement there was $35!  I got a fresh Hesperides 30ml, love that stuff!

 

I did pick up my B-day Fresh Lip Duo but then I remembered that I wanted to get the Jack Black Supreme Cream for the B-friend (another MUT had mentioned they were going to pick that up for their hubby, so I thought... hmmm I must look into it with his B-day not too far away).  

I asked the counter lady if I might trade the lip duo for the shaving cream... she was totally awesome and told me that I should just open an account for the b-friend and 'he' will receive the Jack Black today.  So I did just that!!

It's a generous 3 oz. tube and it says 'Happy Birthday' on the top and 'beauty insider' on the bottom.  I've just turned him into a Sephora-BI 

 and he is military officer.  I'm going to present the card to him along with his other presents, so he'll now have an inside track on what I 'really' like... I've got like half a dozen military shirts now - long sleeve, short sleeve, turtle neck, high-tech fiber, regulation officer's earrings, lazer carved business holder, it's so sweet... but I'd love me some girly presents...

I did get my VIB card, but no compact mirror, I was informed that 'we are not doing that anymore' when I inquired about it ever so gently.

The VIB tote's nice and sturdy and I do really like it.. but the samples were a let-down.  I've been following the VIB bags of yesteryear with shinny eyes looking at it's jar of Algenist, pan of this and tube of that...  I was so looking forward to it, I purchased a bunch of perfume to reach the VIB level.  Then today, I postponed an Early Intervention interpretation case so I can make the event, pft...  I feel really rather silly now... am I really that addicted to GWP?  Ahhh who am I kidding, I love Sephora!

Overall it was a good experience just different from what history has indicated.

The Sephora I went to was out of the bags by the time I got there (mega boo since I actually liked the bag they pictured), but they had made up bags using their black gift bags with a few samples and a compact mirror that had snowflakes on it (leftover holiday packaging I bet) and then added another sample bag with 3 more samples because they were out.

After seeing pics of what the VIB bag samples were I'm kinda glad mine was out of the bags since I got:

In the consolation prize baggie there was Sarah McNamara skin vanish sample tube, Too Faced Candlelight Shadow Insurance and Too Faced Lash Injection. Both the Too Faced samples are half size items.

Then in the actual "bag" there was a Chloe perfume sample (Perfume, meh), Shiseido Sample card with three packets on it, an AmorePacific foil packet and a sample of Algenist Concentrated Reconstructing Serum (it looks like it's 1/4th of a full size bottle according to their website. The barcode on the bottom is blacked out as well.)
 

They were also out of one of the polishes I went in for, but the guy there was super sweet and gave me a free shipping code to buy it online. I did pick up one of last year's Pantone polish trios on sale, and the Nails Inc "gel" topcoat to see how that compares to Julep's Freedom topcoat.

If I spend $100, I'll be VIB. Can I then buy one more thing and be able to get the tote? I'm wondering if I'll be instantly technically VIB, and if I can avail the VIB perks.

Probably? I think you'll need to wait for it to activate and to see if your store still has the bag in stock.

I just realized that I probably have no use for this bag. Maybe a lunch bag? Who knows.

EDIT: Also torn between the Lorac Pro and the Unzipped palette.

I'm torn between the Kat Von D eyeliner and the Eyeko eyeliner.  EDIT: Also torn between the Lorac Pro and the Unzipped palette.

What color(s) are you considering? I've only seen the Kat Von D eyeliner in black (it probably comes in other colors, but I haven't really bothered to look - it was a bit of an impulse buy), but the Eyeko eyeliners come in a bunch of colors (purple is my fav & I'm looking forward to trying navy). The Stila eyeliner pens are good too & I'm pretty sure they come in more colors than just black.

I don't have the Pro yet, but I have the Unzipped and love it. Pro seems to have more variety. The Unzipped is pretty much made up of different shades of brown (true browns, dark browns, as well as reddish browns, a light gold, and a highlight shade). It is a truly neutral palette. Quality-wise, the Unzipped is amazing. (although I'm sure the Pro is amazing too!)

I prefer the Kat Von D liner in black to the Eyeko -- although a lot of people LOOOVE their Eyeko liner. The Stila liner pen was my HG of felt tips until I switched over to more liquidy types (UD liquid liner). I do agree with audiophilekate -- If you want a colored one, especially purple, then Eyeko is the way to go!

If you don't have a neutral palette yet like Naked or In the Light or Nude Tude, then Unzipped is good to have. Pro has a lot more options, but it's not truly a neutral. I want it though! It's in my box...

also for those of you who've checked out online already, is it $50 of stuff + 15% to get fs or is it fs after 15% off >:

Just a bold black eyeliner that I can easily do cat (or winged) liner with.

I only have Naked 2 and to be honest, I'm just tired of it.

I highly recommend Kat Von D for cat eyes! I can easily do that perfect point.

You have A LOT of options then. Your local Sephora should have at least an end cap with a bunch of eyeliners. My local Sephora is teensy & has an end cap with quite a few liquid eyeliner pens. All of the liquid eyeliner pens seem nearly identical to me in terms of application & line produced (except the Too Faced 3-way one). I don't think you could really go wrong with any of them.

I called Sephora today before heading in and they said that the tote offer is for today only.  Maybe that's just for the New York area.

I'd confirm with them first.
