The Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders are great highlighter. I just got the palette and use the two side colors over all and the middle color as a highlighter. They have enough coverage that I use them alone in the summer and my skin just looks radiant and amazing. I find I have to use foundation in the winter since my skin is dryer. I have the Tarte's Champagne highlighter in the Aqualillies palette, that is what I wore for halloween in my profile picture, its hard to blend out but it could be my impatience. I do like Benefit Watts Up, I carry a mini in my purse. I like my Meteorites for and all over glow, the d'etoiles is bronzy and subtle and shimmery.

I made an exchange at Sephora and the points  for the other purchase never appeared on my account. I decided to exchange (it was rose toner and my husband would go crazy with the smell) the item and found out that the person never connected it to my account. The person fixed the problem and took down the employee number from the receipt. I guess it happens a lot... She apologized and tried to be as nice as possible but I can tell that it really upset her that the other employee was not doing returns correctly. She stuffed some samples in my bag as I was leaving.

I ran into some problem at JCPenny Sephora today, and I am wondering if anyone had the same experience. I went in today to return the origins set from Black Friday because it was smaller than I expected. I knew I could have returned online but I thought I would go in for some shopping as well. They told me that they don't sell the product and I am returning without a receipt. But in fact, I brought the shipping receipt/notice that came with my order, and it is certainly within 30 days, and it is brand new unopened. After a lot of struggle, they processed the return. But they printed out another notice warming me not to return to them again. Something to the effect that I return too much stuff without receipt, that they can no longer accept my returns. In fact, I have never returned a single thing at Sephora, neither online nor in store before. This has left a very sour taste in me, it feels like they are accusing me of fraud.

Have anyone had the same experience? Should I complain or just never bother with Sephora again?
FYI I returmed that same item to origins!! They said it came up in their system as a sephora item for the same price and returned it in a snap! No issues!!

Just wanted to add it is DEFINITELY possible to use your discount card online AND at SiJCP (not a freestanding store though). I placed an order online yesterday, and it shipped this morning. Then I had to go back across town where they have the JCP and figured I'd give it a shot - totally worked, although the store did keep the card. So if you're going to try it, order online first!

ETA: I don't feel bad at all, either, with the amount of money I spend at Sephora they can afford to let me have $25 off twice.
@ is this what you were looking for?  It looks like Shalott used it online first then SiJCP.

. I think so...was there a trick to using the emails twice? Actually...better question...did we actually get two discounts offered? One via email and one via mailer?

We get both an email and mailer, however, I believe they are both linked to one discount (anyone can correct me if I am wrong).  However, if you use it online then at SiJCP it kind of 'tricks' the system into letting you use the one discount twice.  At least that is how I thought it was...

Not sure if anyone posted this or not, but if you have multiple email accounts that were sent the GC you CAN use them on another account. I just placed my order with my rouge gc and then entered a second gc and it worked!
Nice! I actually have the opposite problem you did -- I've tried getting them to merge my accounts (used an old email address in store before I started doing all my shopping online with my current email address), and they still haven't, so I might just go ahead and use both cards for the points inconvenience...

Does anyone know how exchanges work with the gift card? I placed an order for Flowerbomb body oil, but I've never smelled it (but I assume it smells like the perfume). Anyway, I'd hate to have squandered my $25, if I have to return it for something else.

So I shopped in SiJCP, used the actual discount card...then came outside for a smoke break...and ordered online and used the code for in-store, and it worked!! Thank you so much for the help!! Also I was able to use my JCPenney store credit at SiJCP so out of pocket this time was $0.00! Feeling so happy I'm not even going to email Sephora that only one of my three samples made it onto my order online. Even though the two I actually wanted are the two I didn't get. Would it be a true Sephora experience if NOTHING went wrong??? I think not!

In SiJCP today they have the KVD palette Star Studded Eyeshadow Book for $28!! It's notmally $55. And upon seeing Innerstellar (I think that is the name of it) in person...not as excited as I thought I'd be.

@ is this what you were looking for?  It looks like Shalott used it online first then SiJCP.
Yeah - I actually hadn't planned on making two purchases. I made my online purchase then when looking at the back of the card I saw the SiJCP had a different barcode than Sephora freestanding and Sephora.com... so it got me thinking... so I tried it, and it worked.

I know some of the ladies here have mentioned that SiJCP systems are tied into JCPenney so that is why online returns are processed differently, or points don't show up... I honestly don't know if Sephora can even control the double purchase, as long as you don't use it in-store and they confiscate the card (which they are supposed to do, per instructions).

It's a big 'ol mystery, but I don't care - Like the Ulta double discount glitch that was mentioned, I don't see the harm in trying to get some extra savings where you can, especially since Sephora offers so few discounts! :smilehappyyes:

I think, if people are going to be happy that they are able to use their reward card at SiJCP then they really should not be upset if 1) their purchase points at SiJCP don't show up on their BI account 2) they cannot return and exchange their regular sephora purchase at SiJCP.

It is precisely this "different system" that created the debacle of unable to return sephora items at SiJCP but that same "different system" also allowed the double dipping of the reward card.

So, you gain some, you lose some.  If one day Sephora actually fixed the system and synced everything up, then yes, you can return/exchange things at SiJCP as you would a free standing sephora but you also won't be able to use your reward card twice.

Personally, I'd think getting to use the reward card twice is a better perk than being able to return things to SiJCP.

My two pennies.

I've never had any problems getting my points at JCP- all of my purchases show up immediately in my purchase history, too.

I've only ever done an exchange once, with a pencil eyeliner from sephora.com that they also had in stock at JCP. It had arrived broken b/c some shipping genius packed it in a padded envelope :/ Maybe the story wouldn't have had a happy ending if I had tried to make a return, but the ladies were really nice about it.

I have the Shimmery skin perfector by Becca and the Touche EClate by YSL wild edition.

The Becca one it's the type u would mix with your foundation (very little goes a LONG way) or just apply with ur fingers/stippling brush on ur cheekbones. The YSL one I use to brighten my undereye area after my corrector/concealer, it's beautiful, not too heavy. Love it.

The nars multiple can be trickier to use as it's not as creamy, and the UD naked illuminator is pretty but it has TONS of glitter, I would only use this on my body not my face.

If u want me to swatch them later for u, I can :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Based on my own experience:

Becca: little goes a very long way, but very pretty if you get the right color/amount down.  The trio for 25$ come with wand applicators, and is easier to apply/control.  (my fave is Opal)

Nars: not as creamy, most highlighting ones are full of glittery chunks, don't last all day (for me).

YSL: I've never seen any "glow-y" effect when I've tried them.  They brighten more than highlight for me, and even then they make my skin look older for some reason.  Also found them too drying, but maybe they just don't agree with me?

Too Faced: I tried this one and the candle light one, didn't like either.  They took multiple layers to show anything on my skin and were such a let down.

I've used the YSL Touche Eclat as an under-brow highlighter and on the rest of my face. I feel it absorbs too readily into my skin and makes no difference under my brows but I like that it's so smooth and quick to absorb on other parts of my face. It does feel like a more natural brightener than highlighter but overall it's a little overrated for the price. A very fancy case if you have the money to spend though. It depends on where you use it.

For highlighters I recommend the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. I've been using Diffused Light as more of a setting powder and it evens me out, gives me a super subtle (natural) glow, and also blurs my complexion a bit which makes it even more amazing. When I was kicking all creams with silicone to the curb then all I used was my regular moisturizer (non-tinted) and the lighting powder and it did wonders. (To go from regular BB cream or foundations to nothing is rather horrifying. And the Lighting Powder does have a -cone in it but powders don't seem to give me breakouts so it was fine.) They have other shades that are brighter or darker depending on your skin tone and how you want to use them. So if you want something that's purely a highlighter and not for all-over-application then there's an answer there too.

Has anyone tried this RMS luminizer that has been raved about lately?

Thanks to all of you for replying. The YSL and UD ones are officially marked off the list. I will have to check out some of the others when I have more time. Just looking for a nice subtle shimmer to give me glow at the highpoints - brow bones, high of cheek bones, etc. if that helps describe what I'm looking for.

P.s. On the ambient lighting palette - how is it for pale peeps? I have one shade of the powders and use it all over. I really like it. Wasn't sure how the other colors would work for me though.

My points purchase history from SiJCP always show up right away as well (and I go to a different one depending on what area I am in and works for both).

I think, if people are going to be happy that they are able to use their reward card at SiJCP then they really should not be upset if 1) their purchase points at SiJCP don't show up on their BI account 2) they cannot return and exchange their regular sephora purchase at SiJCP.

Ha ha, @@Jaly I think you misunderstood me - those were the reasons I was pointing out as WHY it is SiJCP has a different system, therefore allowing the use of the Holiday gift card twice, not trying to justify it. I don't spend enough there to care about the 25 points I'd earn, and I certainly never make returns to them. The closest SiJCP is more than half an hour from me, while there is a freestanding store less than two miles away.

I am not upset, nor did I see anyone else combining their grievances with SiJCP with a determination to "double dip". What I did allude to was that with the amount of money I, and many of the other women here who patronize Sephora (Perhaps yourself included), they will not be losing financially if I save $50 instead of $25, or $40 instead of $20, or $30 instead of $15.

I am open to everyone's opinion and even criticism, but please don't twist my meaning or put words in my mouth. Thank you very much, I appreciate it. :flowers:
