not sure what kind of skin you have - but i hate stuff that doesn't feel like it sinks in!  I really like this one from Murad - it's only SPF 20 though, not sure what you're looking for

There is another Murad one in the Sun Safety Kit that I will try first but if I still don't like anything in this kit that is definitely an option - thanks for the reco!!

I also really like the Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skincare Max Sheer Day Moisture Defense Lotion and Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF 30.  The PTR is especially non greasy.  Both of these are sold at Sephora
I tried that PTR yesterday and I felt it was REALLY greasy. I will have to check out the Lancome.

The only sunscreens that actually work (what a concept, lol) and don't feel like a Banana Boat mask or grease ball an hour later for me are Shiseido's Ultimate Sun Protection Cream spf 50 and Soopergoop's city sunscreen serum.

I don't know what it is about sunscreen, but everything I've tried since I was a little kid has either not worked a darn on my skin and left me burnt more than if I'd gone bare, or has given me breakouts beyond belief, clogged pores, white mask halos, made me hot and itchy and like my skin can't breathe.
I have samples of both of these - definitely going to try the Shiseido tomorrow and will try the Supergoop soon!

For sunscreen I really like the Kiehls Superfluid.  I was thinking of the sun safety kit but bought the superfluid instead yesterday. My husband looks through my stuff if he knows I have a bottle because he hates sunscreen but he is white and knows he needs to wear it if he goes outside for long periods. Its the only stuff he does not mind wearing, its super light weight and not white. I bought the mens one this time because it has added vitamins C&E and caffeine.

Wow if a man doesn't mind it then that one might be a real winner. Do you know how much SPF is in it? Maybe I can get a sample of it at a Kiehl's store...

50 and they can make you a sample if they don't have it usually
Next time the weather is nice (it's going to rain today, boo!) I will treat myself to a lunch out of the office and mainly use that time to walk over to their store and check it out!

In my experience (and extensive research) if you're serious about SPF protection it's best to use a SPF-specific product rather than a dual-purpose moisturizer/SPF, foundation/SPF, etc. I use moisturizer first and after ~3 minutes I put on sunscreen. There are a lot of great sunscreens that can function as a oil-controlling primer. They are typically from Asia and usually have a more liquidy texture than we're used to in the US. I am partial to Biore UV Face Milk but I wouldn't recommend it for dry skin.  Shiseido sunscreen is great as a primer and conveniently sold at Sephora considering that's the thread we're in. :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Elta MD also gets a lot of love from makeup lovers who are serious about sun protection.

If you're not actually relying on the moisturizer to protect your face from the sun, then a moisturizer/SPF could fit your needs! Just remember that SPF doesn't "stack" -- if you're wearing SPF 40 sunscreen and SPF 15 moisturizer, that isn't equal to SPF 55. Sorry this was longer than I intended and probably more than you were looking for. :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Shiseido SPF (in the blue bottle) or Biore UV Face Milk are my favorite because they don't have a sunscreen smell and don't leave me greasy at all but still provide excellent sun protection. They're not made to be a makeup primer, but work well for that too. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Good luck, I hope you find something you love!

Tried the Shiseido today. Love it mostly. It is not thick or greasy or heavy. That said, it made me REALLY white. Does that happen to you ladies too? I had to put on powder & blush over it (and I don't normally get all made up other than brows, lips, mascara for work). Maybe I put on too much but I used only a tiny bit...it could also just be that I'm already very pale.

Don't skimp on the sunscreen, you need a good layer for the spf to be effective. If it's too sheer you take the spf from (say) 50, down to (maybe) as low as 10.

Definitely! I read an article a couple years ago that was really eye opening about the proper way to apply sunscreen. To sum it up basically if you can rub it in to your skin, you're not wearing enough lmao. It was actually really interesting about how the SPF degrades across the time of use. I really should find it and read it again before the 100 degree weather kicks in.

I'm very tan (nc43) but I'm a sunscreen lover:

1.I don't want to be any darker (hard enough to find companies who carry colors I can use)

2. second I have acne (although I have it under control :w00t: ) so I don't want any pigmentation

3. last but not least I don't want any extra wrinkles

My mom is blonde with green eyes and my childhood memories of her baking with baby oil at the beach still haunt me!

Definitely wouldn't skimp just was thinking if i could visibly see it I probably used too much, no?

Hahaha probably the perfect amount! It's always hard to use as much as you need, I don't want wrinkles but I also don't want a solid white nose.

Haha well I guess I will HAVE to wear blush when I wear this stuff so I don't look dead....

I put this stuff on like 10 hours ago and I still look extra white...

Dang, I should have picked up the lip/cheek rouge stuff by Edward Bess last night before bed.  Today it is sold out.  They did add more items to clearance, but some of the new things have sold out already.  I was hoping to get another quad royale on clearance, but it looks like they sold out of them before even making it to the clearance section, along with several other items. Oh well, got a few good deals anyways. I ended up getting the blush in Moroccan Rose, lip glosses in Nude Satin and French Lace, and eye shadows in Mystery and Night.

Oh, and there was a new 500 point perk listed... Tocca Cleopatra mini rollerball and a mini candle/holder.

Thank you so much, Jennifer, for doing reviews of the sunscreens.  Really helpful!
