I know that a lot of designers appreciate the one on one QVC/HSN allows them to have about their products. It means at some point they get to be the "face" of their brand and ensure proper use instructions are given out, they get to talk to callers, etc. I can't tell you how many times people at Sephora give me a blank look or a wrong answer if I ask them about something. I know it's not associates' fault we've had that discussion but it doesn't change the fact that I wouldn't want that kind of representation for my higher end brand, I'd want staff that was extremely knowledgeable in my specific products and hosts "usually" do that. They study the product for weeks before it's presented so they know how it works, alternate uses, best application methods and so on.

I am sure this is why nordstrom's employees each have specific brands they represent- Nordies places a high value on the experience.

It is my understanding that Nordstrom's beauty counters are staffed by people who work directly for the brand, not the store itself, kind of like outsourcing.  My sister-in-law's mom worked for Lancome and would work the counters at Nordstrom, Meier & Frank (when it was still around), the Bon Marche (ditto), Macy's (once it took over M&F and the Bon) -- wherever Lancome needed someone to cover the counter at a particular store.

Agreed!  I know th Sephorians mean well and it's a lot to take in, but after nearly 2 years of shopping and comapring, I've found that often what I know from my informal obsession exceeds thier paid training but not all the time, thank goodness!!

I just got that event entry palette on Fri. it's not bad for $5, thinking about another one for the gift box but I have some house stuff to buy before makeup.

Oh god, I think I just made a responsible decision

...........help!

I actually go to qvc to learn about certain products.. Like Tarte or Peter Thomas Roth.. I'm a dork and enjoy watching the video demos to see how they tell you to use it and then reading comments. Then i will buy from Sephora for the points unless there is a TSV.. I'm ALL over a tarte tsv ! I also love Mally and It! cosmetics.

Dude, I love home shopping, It keeps me company and I get to learn things. Their sets can be awesomely priced too. Shipping is usually what kills it. It's not a "luxury" experience but keeping/having money involves saving money.

Qvc beauty is awesome! Their sets are great and I know with Tarte they have a lot of stuff first. There's a Tarte brush that I really want to try but it's in an exclusive in their last TSV for a few months. Qvc is also my security blanket. My grandma used to watch it all the time so it reminds me of her house.

I prefer to do my cosmetics shopping at Sephora, but like you said, the sets at QVC are awesomely priced!  I love Josie Maran's products and used to buy them exclusively at Sephora until my co-worker recommended I check out QVC.  I'd never heard of QVC at the time but now I have an appreciation for it.  I've scored some Josie Maran sets at unbeatable prices on QVC.  I also like that QVC sometimes has first dibs at a product.  I already pre-ordered the bareMinerals serum foundation on QVC (I think it's called something like that).  I still try to make my purchases at Sephora first for points and free shipping but sometimes QVC has a deal I just can't pass up.

Back onto a sephora item specific track:: Does anyone know a dupe for the Formula X shade "We are in luck here" from the Ariel collection? I don't wanna run out of this perfect coral red!

Today's Special Value - their daily deal

So, I may be derailing us even more, but QVC is having an easy pay day tomorrow- prices will be broken down into 3 or more interest-free payments. They charge tax in every state and shipping on a per item basis (they infamously make money off their shipping rates), but it can still be a deal for their kits and discounted items. On a related note, HSN has brands that QVC doesn't (Too Faced, Lorac, Benefit, Lancome), but they do free shipping and will often have coupons/discounts. ShopHQ trails the pack--they love their jewelry and watches-- but they recently got Juice Beauty and Rodial. ... In my defense, I really intended to just talk about QVCs easy pay day. I'll show myself out...

Haha we can throw this talk over to the enabler's thread moving forward.. The tarte specials are usually around 5-6 full size products (plus an amazing brush) and around $70 with tax and shipping (uuuggghhh hate paying shipping) plus you can often do payments over two or three months. The value is amazing! I usually pick one every three months to get..

Any YSL Glossy Stain experts? I ordered 106 (beige anarchist) after trying the sample. I feel like the color they shipped me, although labeled the same, is completely different. I felt the sample had a coppery tone and this one I received in my order is much more beige (I thought the title was a little strange on the sample). Does anyone know if the samples were misslabeled? I also just ordered color 103, I hope it is like the sample.... I wonder if I could exchange my 106 in store for another 106 to see if it's more like what I sampled....

Also. - after y'all hit Rouge, about how long did it take for it to actually say in your online account that you're rouge? I want to order something with a rouge code!
