They do offer GWPs for brands you might never otherwise offer them in a collected setting (like if you want a Benefit GWP you'd have to buy it at their site rather than buying Deborah Lippman polish and getting a Benefit GWP) but on the other hand, they always tend to be like $1-7 in value.
Normally, this isn't something I think about, but I was going to bring cosmetics back to China for my relatives the next time I visited because the same cosmetics in China are like 2-3x what you'd pay here (So like a $7 maybelline lipstick would be like $15-20 in China), but on the other hand, people also care about brands so Clinique and Lancome mean more whereas I feel like more of us here are into other brands. But for a $35 purchase, I could get
this entire Clinique set which has way more items too. I understand the Givenchy/Hourglass/Marc Jacobs are slightly higher end than Clinique but... even if you calcuated their value together, it's nowhere close to that.
I mean, I understand the benefits of Sephora (again with the getting to try GWP from brands you don't usually see) but I really wish they'd be less stingy. Especially since before Flash, most people just put $50 of stuff in their carts. Like, oftentimes they'll offer a GWP that have a $2-5 value for $25/35 purchases ($50 if you don't have flash) whereas you can get so much more from other stores, in store. The only time we see super good GWP are like the grab bags around Thanksgiving and the VIB events. :/
This is sometimes true and I don't jump on those GWP (although I do think about it
) but the value of the last VIB code was good. I'm a little fanatical when it comes to value so here ya go...
Givenchy lippie = .05oz value $16
Marc Jacobs mascara = .09oz value $9.50
Hourglass primer = .16oz value $9
Total Value for this GWP is $34! The real disappointment is the price these companies charge for these products. The mark up on makeup is HUGE!!!!
