The only one I know of is "mobile" which gives you a free iPhone/iPod *or* iPad/e-reader sleeve

Thank you! I used it, I really appreciate it, I feel bad, the shipping will be more expensive than what I purchased but I wanted that super pretty bonus Anna Sui Perfume bottle, I can't use perfume, but the bottle will look gorgeous on my dresser.

Just went to Sephora to pick up my MUFE foundation. That was fun! The SA mentioned how extremely pale I am, hahahaaa, as if I didn't know! I love being pale though, I embrace the paste. Lol.

when i checked out with my voucher the SA was like "oh, i've never seen this before. i hope it works!" then at the end of the transaction she was like "yay! free!...um...well, i guess you paid for it before already.. nevermind. *mumble mumble*" this is why i don't really shop in store haha.

Some SA's just don't know when to stop. It can get awkward really fast. It was so busy in the store today and all I could think was, "this is why I don't leave my home," I've become such a hermit.

You shouldn't fee bad, IMO. You spent $100 to redeem that mini perfume, and if you go into a store you don't have to spend anything to redeem points. I mean really, perks are supposed to be gifts for loyal customers, no? There is no guilt for spending a few dollars to redeem $100 worth of points for a mini perfume. I know for one of my own perks I only spent a couple of dollars as well :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Not to get anyone defensive (not you obvs) but I have never, ever, EVER had a wonderful shopping experience in-store, and lately when I go in, it's just terrible. I'm usually TEACHING the SAs about products, promotions, brands, etc. instead of the other way around (ridiculous!!) and despite the fact that I've dropped insane amounts of money there, everyone acts sort of snobby.

The other day when I went in to get @slinka her perfume samples, I had to explain the brand to the SA (she had no idea what it was). A few months ago when I went in I asked the SA what sort of point perks she had, and she flat-out refused to show me "You don't want to waste your points!! You have 2,000! We're getting AMAZING thousand-point perks in this area soon, trust me!!" A few months later, those "amazing" point perks in my area are nowhere to be found.

[@]ohsailor[/@] oh man... This is usually my experience too! Especially when lip tars first hit my store.... It was bad! The other day at Ulta the SA was incorrectly explaining instructions Mario Badescu products but worst of all, she SHOOK the drying lotion! I jumped in and said omg no you apply it like this, I use this brand on the regular, blah blah and I was being suuuuper nice. The lady did end up buying a ton of MB stuff. I kept browsing after my good deed was done then another SA came over and told me that it's their jobs to educate their clients and she thanked me in the most condescending, backhanded tone. This is why I don't leave my apartment. >.>

Yep! I've had this happen before too. It's not my fault that the sales associates are idiots sometimes. Obviously not all of them are uneducated about makeup but seriously, there needs to be some sort of test that they take to check their makeup knowledge.

I sort of assumed they had to go to a meeting of some sort on a monthly basis to stay current with makeup, skincare, etc.  I have exactly one Sephora SA that I trust with my makeup and skincare purchases (for myself and others).  It's pathetic.

To be fair, if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have known to not shake it either ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> There's only one SA I really trust with suggestions, color matching, etc but she doesn't "know" me so I feel extra creepy when trying to seek her out.

There's only one SA I really trust with suggestions, color matching, etc but she doesn't "know" me so I feel extra creepy when trying to seek her out. Wow.  *puffs chest and ruffles feathers proudly*  Why, thank you.  Well, now I'm REALLY glad the Sephora SA I trust showed me how to properly use everything I've purchased or thought about purchasing.  I'm friends with a SA at a SiJCP, but she doesn't seem to know how to do her makeup, so I don't really go to her for advice.

I wonder what the job application process is like for Sephora and Ulta - "Do you like makeup and skincare?"  Yes.  "Are you at least passively interested in makeup and skincare?" Of course...  "Hypothetical situation: You have no freaking clue what this thing does or how to even open the bottle.  Could you confidently BS your way through a pathetic sales pitch and sell this thing?"  Duh.  "Woot!  You're in!  Congrats!"

How long do you think it will be before Sephora offers another good sample bag with purchase?  I was supposed to get the BLITZ one with an order and they didn't include it even though it was still in stock but by the time CS got back to me 3 days later it was of course then out of stock. Annoying. Anyway, I have my eye on something, but I really like a good GWP to be included, especially since they totally messed up last time.

The thing is, I think they DO go through a pretty rigorous course about makeup and skincare products- I just don't know how many of those girls pay attention and/or whether they take refresher courses and learn about new products, but it's so strange!

I doubt it, but who knows =/ I still want to know when the next bonus points event is. I heard that some point in January we were going to get 2x points on skincare items, but no one has confirmed or denied this for me :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

It bums me out because I'd love to have a job at Sephora and yet they hire these women (or men) that half the time don't even know what they're selling. So frustrating. They're usually not the friendliest people either.

I work for Sephora, and to be honest, I would love to learn about every single bottle of the 20,000 products that we sell, but they don't send us in a training room every time something new comes along to learn about how to use it, how to sell it, why it's good for certain people, why it isn't, etc. I am fairly new to the team, have been with them since the end of October, and I got trained for one day on basics of the best selling moisturizers, and skin care, and was sent to the floor to work the crazy holidays. I am now part of the permanent cast, and they told us they will show us some videos about color, etc, but so far nothing. I am going to say it's impossible for me to know every single thing on every single product we sell, it's just too much, and they don't sit us to train us for endless hours so we are 100% prepared. I think mostly you learn on the job, reading labels, and using common sense, but I don't think it's all on us the product consultants to know it all, I would love to go to meetings and learn about all the new stuff and why it's good as opposed to using others, etc, but it just simply doesn't happen this way. Like I said, we do get the occasional video on something, but it's not on all the products we sell.

So keep that in mind, next time you think the girl helping you is not educated enough for you.

Totally agree, I got hired recently and was super nervous about my skills (haven't been to beauty school, just self taught), but honestly half the people there don't know how to do things. Apply, it's all about how you sell yourself. If you believe in you, they have no reason to doubt yours kills and you will probably get the job.

It's actually not that rigorous, it's a few hours, and we take a little test on it. It's not on ALL we sell, just the main products of the best selling brands. So we just can't know it all. They also don't update us on everything new that comes in... We sell like 290348234923 products, the videos were probably on like 30 items, TOPS...
