Oh, also, if this is true, I really will be moving my business permanently to Nordstrom, where they have no problem giving free shipping to ALL orders (yes, even ones under $5) and also give you 3 samplers per beauty order, plus have the best return policy in the business. And you don't have to spend $1000 to get these sort of "perks." I'm sorry, I'm just super bummed on Sephora right now. I've been a loyal customer for over 10 years, and, if you had asked me 3 months ago, I would have still said they were my favorite (even with the lack of "perks") and raved about their site and online CS.
Me agree with u. Im kinda dissappointed with sephora... So far my experience with Nordstrom is beyond great, they even shipped the sampes first if the item I order wasnt avaialble (does it mean they need to pay twice the shipping cost?). And Nordstrom never replaced any samples I chose...which I appreciate because the chosen ones were always the ones I expected to try

Hi. I just want to say the nars disco inferno I bought to hit free shipping stays on for forever and a day with just a base no top coat. It looks very taupe on and not very opaque at 3 coats but I love it.

Gwp question: I have an unopened perfume that I'm not really loving after trying a vial sample for a few days. My sister liked the little gift that came with it so I said she can have it over Tgiving. Now I'm kicking myself. Does this mean I can't return, exchange for credit only (don't mind), can I pay for the gwp only, do I have to ask for it back (hearts may be broken)? I figure you seasoned shoppers would know. TIA!
And I hit VIB finally
I got the Disco Inferno too and I'm now even more excited!

On the GWP, I returned 5 products and brought in all 5 GWP for them.  The cashier said she wouldn't know what to do with it and just handed them back to me.

I had rang the Rouge line to inquire about 2 things.  First, to ask if I'm anywhere in the neighborhood of either a warning or a banning.  She asssured me I wasn't.  Second on directions in returning a double-shippment, if they'd prefer me to mail it back or can I bring it to one of the retailers.  I volunteered that I'll find theh GWP and enclose that as well.  She seemed to think that was a good idea and agreed with me.  Then a few minutes later, while we are chatting about something else already, she said "you know, I want you to keep the GWP, yes please do.  That's yours from us to you."

I think she liked the idea that I was returning the GWP in good faith but ran the scenario through her head while we were chatting and realized that such an action was not accountable in there system and wasn't going to make any difference.

I really find the inablity to record the return GWP and the combination of using that as a banning criteria to be really obtuse.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me but what might look like abuse to their system might actualy be more like temporary vegas-style gambling addiction.  I buy the first one because I love it.  Then I might buy another the next day for my 'gift closet' and mentally says, no more....   Everyone on MUT is just gushing over it, then it goes out of stock, a handful of people say that their received product was damaged and I sort of prepare for 1 of my 2 to be damaged.  A couple of days later it comes back, so I grab a couple more just to put the odds of receiving a good product in my favor.  But then wouldn't you know it, all my products arrived in prestine condition.  So I return the extras along with the GWP.  But there are no procedure in place for a complete transaction reversal of product and GWP.

Nah, impossible.  I have no Flash, I am no Rouge. Probably just a glitch.
Ah, I see.  What are people's responses like?  I wonder how many people this has actually happened to.

Supportive, thankful and outraged at Sephora, mostly. Some saying that people making orders under $25 deserve what they get (essentially) because it's greedy, etc

Also, I'm pretty sure why no one has anything in writing- those are CS reps, As has been said over and over, CS Reps can't really give a response one way or the other other than "read the TOS." If you push for a better answer, you might get a guess on their part, like "too many promos." What, exactly, would the girls get in writing? They have screen capped the error they get when they try to place an order in some cases, but in others the order goes through fine without any problem, then the order is cancelled. Exactly what do you want these girls to show you to prove this is happening and pretty widespread?

I was more cynical than anyone else when this first started, but to think all these girls, many of whom have hundreds if not thousands of posts on the Sephora boards, are either making this up or exaggerating is ridiculous.

And the idea here isn't to exaggerate what's going on, but it's undeniable now that it's happening to a lot of girls and I think the fact that it hasn't happened to some of us who are guilty of the same things isn't a reason to say "this is all getting exaggerated" but is just further proof of how unfair and glitchy the algorithm is. The girl whose post I linked has been sharing her story for weeks and has been updating regularly and finally got a call back from someone higher up (and by "higher-up" I mean supervisor, who probably doesn't know much either, to be honest).  To essentially say it's all hyperbole or exaggeration is unfair- this girl has been pretty honest from the start. If anything, we should take what HE had to say with a grain of salt since the real powers that be have been pretty mum on everything and who knows how much of what he's saying is the truth- anyone who has dealt with CS reps can tell you 3 different reps will tell you three different answers. Heck, it got to the point that, when I got an answer I didn't like regarding something (a point perk was leaking, for example, and one said they were sorry but there was nothing they could do) I would just write back until I got an answer I did like (take it into the store to get points back/a replacement or sometimes just get my points back, no return necessary).

Part of the reason there is so much confusion is BECAUSE these girls aren't getting emails telling them exactly what's going on and why, and it's probably because an algorithm flagged them and there is no real training in how to deal with this as a CS rep than to say "read the TOS."

I'm someone who hasn't gotten banned and I have no reason to *want* this stuff to be true- but as more stories popped up, the more difficult I find it to dismiss.

@coffeecardigan I think you can tell that the rest of my response wasn't aimed at you at all, lol. But just in case, yeah- the rest of my post has nothing to do with you :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

For those who can't see the thread, I took screen caps for you. It's in four parts because I made the font really big so you could see it. The last part is just a paragraph. I would post all the comments but there's 7 or 8 pages now. I don't want to post all four pictures here so I'll just link them.

Again, I for one would be more than happy to make a subforum for girls to talk about this, but I did think this was important reading.

No worries!  I appreciate the informative response; many of those things did cross my mind.  It seems like many are being punished for a few greedy people's sins.

@ohsailor Thank you for stepping in to defend us banned people. It is greatly appreciated. There are a few skeptics out there who think we are just making this up, but really??? I can see if it's happening to one or two people, but it has happened to numerous people. We share our stories in hopes that our fellow sisters can save themselves. What do we have to gain from lying on these boards? I've gotten to a point where I'm not even posting anymore because it's bad enough that Sephora has banned me, and when I share my story, I have to read comments that say those who are banned "deserve to be banned", we have "no proof" or "where's the evidence", we're "exaggerating", ect. Anyhow, I have stopped posting, but thought I'd write this one post to let you know your support is greatly appreciated! *HUGS* :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I should mention- I found a Nordstrom in Salt lake city- what fun! Thanks to this thread I knew to check them out and apparently they have free shipping all the time? That'll win me over any day, lol.

How long does it usually take for your Ebates to post to your account after making a Sephora purchase?  I am waiting on some from the 5th.  I made purchases from other retailers that have already shown up, but Sephora is taking a bit longer.  Thanks!

Mine ususally shows up around the same time The item ships or when the charge goes through on my card.

I have to say that your post was the first I heard about it and I want to be aware. That's why I asked about returns and whatnot. Now I know I have to be a lot more certain with my purchases than before because I buy things willy nilly and figure I can decide when it's in my possession. 4 out of 5 times I do end up keeping what I bought or I return it in store but end up picking up something else. Now with all this warning/banning going on, I have to think twice. Awareness is important and I welcome that info.

I think the whole "think of it in a business sense" is the dumbest crap ever. Who is in charge there, like for real, and did they never take an Econ class where they had to read Coase's Theory of a Firm? Because seriously, what large company with a large ecommerce segment that REQUIRES many shipments to be made in order to fulfill orders HAS NOT entered into a long term, nearly unconditional contract with a shipping company? A firm is created in which these many small contracts (here the "we [sephora] pay out of pocket" re: shipping orders) may be substituted for one contract. Of course, Sephora, you pay out of pocket in the nature of initially making a long term agreement with the shipping company, UPS. The benefit of a long term contract is that the firm, Sephora, will save them money. That's seriously the dumbest reason ever. If your contract was not ready for the ZOMG MILLLLIONS of orders that would happen when all those ~*totally greedy*~ VIBRs began to ~*abuse*~ the system with their millions of tiny orders that are still making you money (because mark up on cosmetics is like, what, 600%), well, maybe you shouldn't have launched the program before you had a chance to negotiate the contract with your shipping provider to account for this runoff of VIBR orders. Dumbest. Excuse. Ever.

I'm sorry, but what? And it's not directed at you -- like, who among us is allowed to be holier-than-thou about how other people spend their money.

The biggest irony here is that capitalism is inherently greedy. It doesn't care about consumer. The most greedy among all the parties here is Sephora. Beauty products have an insanely high profit margin since the cost of materials and production and development is so much lower than the price it's resold to us. That's why companies like Wet n Wild and NYX can sell us $1-2 items and still be a profitable brand.

I don't see how wanting to get the most bang out of your buck is greedy, especially if you've already spent upwards of $1000. And even if it is, how is that anyone else's business. That's like saying it's greedy to wait for the Sephora x Pantone items to go on sale before buying them because they're grossly inflated prices compared to the quality and brand. Capitalism is aimed at trying to cheat you out of as much money as it can. How is it greedy to try to keep as much of it as you can. I will always be on the consumer's side, because capitalism never favours actual people (and corporations are not people!) They have no feelings, no families, nothing for me to feel sorry for.

IDK if this was already posted here.

i am trying to make another online purchase but it seems like I cannot use a promo code twice anymore. I remember doing such two months ago with their chevron bag goodies, but now with the SUSPENSE code, it's a no go.

One more thought: I just think it's hysterically ironic that whenever things go the way that favours a corporation, their default smug answer is, "That's capitalism," and whenever it doesn't favour them, the whining always comes out as, "WELL THAT'S NOT FAIR!"

And to clarify, I don't mean small businesses owned by people whose livelihood is directly tied to the success of it like Llarowe.com or small coffeehouses. I really mean like big corporations like Sephora or Nordstrom or Walmart. You played the game and you lost. Suck it up: It's called capitalism.

Yup, it's been coming up more and more for me and It's definitely pushing me more towards places like Ulta where there is almost always a GWP above a certain price and brand GWPs. Sephora wants to limit using a deluxe sample bag to once where as Ulta will give me multiple full size Ulta products for free with no limit as long as my order is over. On cyber monday I placed two orders both getting one of the sample bags. I also got a robe with one order and a free LG eyeshadow in the other. Sephora is quickly going down in my list for beauty products.

Members have a right to be skeptical if they so wish, that's always one part of having a dialogue on an open forum. You will find that in almost any topic that involves an issue with a brand or store. I don't recall anyone here saying that members deserved to be banned and I would hope our community wouldn't be that vitriolic.

I think she was talking about in the VIBR forums where they're discussing why a lot of people have been banned.

You might be right, I read the "these boards" in the preceding sentence as including MUT. Lol, love syntax.
