LOL thank you!

The Banana Boat Soothe a cain does work really well. I keep mine in the fridge so it's nice and cool when applied! So sorry about the burn, I feel your pain!

i'm glad it was early detection! i'm assuming it's gone or whatever? sorry, i'm not TOO familiar with it, so i don't know the correct lingo.

Yes, it's "gone". I had it cut out. And thankfully, it had not spread. It is a cancer that loves to metastasize (spelling?) meaning attach itself to other organs. It can also do this very fast. The hand, head and foot melanomas, from what I learned, are the most dangerous.

But I never, ever get too cocky about it. I am extremely respectful of any type of cancer now.

wow, i'm glad it's gone. that's horrible. thanks for telling me about it. i had no idea.

I did that to myself once with that very same line of thinking, however, in my case it was late in the afternoon (at least after 4pm, if not 5pm). I figured there was NO way I was going to get any color, let alone burn.

Well, I got on this boogie board & I was floating about on the ocean's water (did I mention I was wearing a "thong" suit?) & I ended up with one nasty burn on my a$$ (not to mention pretty much all over the backside of my body). It hurt the worst (and of course, I was burned in these places the worst) on my butt & and the back of my knees. Ouch!

Oh, I so feel your pain! I've done the same thing and when I started to peel on my back, I was asking family, friends and even total strangers to PLEASE just give me a little scratch on my back. (Yes, I made many new friends this way. LOL) It drove me crazy. Just stay out of the sun and keep it moist with aloe or unscented moisturizer. Even after the redness and hurt are gone, still keep covered for a couple of weeks. Your skin will be especially sensitive and prone to burn.

Just be thankful you figured it out now. I've used sunscreen for most of my life, but I never really got just how important it is until I visited my first dermatologist after moving to Michigan. The waiting room was literally full of elderly people with skin cancer. These were people who never suntanned who had lived in a state not known for sunshine. Since I grew up on the gulf coast and had a perpetual tan until I was 40, I figure it's just a question of when, not if, I'll have a skin cancer. I wish I had been taught to take care of my skin at least half as well as my teeth.

Ouch!

Hmm, I've had worse than that. I'm very very pale, only had to get burnt once when I was little to wake up and realise that sunscreen is so not overrated. I'm sorry, but I just don't have any sympathy any more for people who get burnt -every one knows they should be wearing sunscreen.

That looks painful, are you putting anything on to help the healing?

I hear putting on sunscreen after a burn can help reverse the sun damage, I've done it in the past and it definitely help sooth the blistering skin. Have you tried that?

Owwww...hon that looks like it hurt! I had that happen to me two years ago. I went to a Nascar race with my dad and uncle, and I thought "My legs need a little bit of sun" so I had just my legs out in the sun while the rest of my body was in the shade...and within an hour they were darker than your back. I got sun poisoning from it and my feet swelled up sooo bad I could hardly walk or move my feet.

Oh dear... i even feel the pain since i got sun burnt before, I thot the same thing as you when i was on the beach, and i was too deparate for a nice tan... My skin got as red as yours, then pieces and pieces of burnt skin came off after a few days. I hope you get better coz i see many good tips here which you would apply for yourself. Don't do it ever again silly.

This makes me think of my friend Jeff...my family and a bunch of our close friends (including his family) all went to Hawaii one year, and he did himself in by not wearing sunscreen. What made it even worse was the fact that Jeff is a pure redhead - paleskin and all. He burnt so bad that he actually became physically ill - high fever and pretty bad blistering all over his body...anyway, after seeing that happen to him I try my best to always wear sunscreen, even though I am of a darker skin tone and tan easily.

Anyway, I am so so sorry to hear about your pain Jennifer - I hope you heal fast - oh, and btw, you are not fat at all!! In fact I think that tube top looks lovely on you. Take care chica!!

Jennifer, has the sunburn completely cleared yet? That looked like it really hurt. I have only been sunburned once or twice on a small area, and even that I wouldn't want to repeat, so I can't even imagine what you went through.

Jen:

I have some nice deep wrinkles under my eyes from being in the sun when I was your age...sorry to preach but...STAY OUT OF THE SUN!!! Why would you risk wrinkling that beautiful face?? There are tons of tanning products out there to make you look tan and if you are going to the beach WEAR THE SUNBLOCK!!!

Okay I'm done now!

Just one more thing...you are not fat! I wish I was that "fat"!!!
