OMG Jen!!! You poor thing!! My sister used sunlamps last year because she has quite bad psoariasis on her body and they were recommended by a Derm. Only she went on for too long and she had third degree burns. A doctor recommended Aqueous Calamine lotion. It's not quite as chalky as regular calamine and is more of a lotion but it really did the job and took all the redness and hotness out of it!

PS - you're gorgeous missus!

Ouch!! Poor Jennifer. But, you are not alone in Crazy Town.

I used to do stuff like this all the time. That was Before I got melanoma.

Ahhemmm..melanoma. I got one so bad down in Galveston, Texas one time I just spent 2 days straight soaking in an almost ice-cold water tub. I would change the water...but no creams or anything for 2 days. It was that bad. Sleeping and sheets and stuff was out of the question. I was cooking like a roast.

You poor thing. Maja, I hear you on the sun 'aint what it used to be thingy.

It feels way, way, stronger than it did back in 1976, when I used to lay out by the pool in the Bay Area and listen to Three Dog Night on the radio.

excuse my fat. i never wear tube tops anymore since gaining weight, but my body was in SO much pain, even a loose spaghetti strap hurt! i couldn't sleep and i couldn't even put my seatbelt on in the car!

please don't do what i did and WEAR SUNSCREEN!!!!!!!!

I know exactly how you feel. When I was still in Rio, I was not really a beach person. So everytime I went to the beach, I would think "Ok, I never come to the beach anyways, I might as well lay here without sunscreen so I can get a bit of a tan". And in the end of the day, or a couple of days, I would end up looking purple and burning like hell. But I never learned my lesson.

LOLNow I have been self tanning and I like it because it looks much better than when I go to the beach anyways.

Thanks, jennifer.....but a number of things were in my favor. Mainly, EARLY DETECTION and FAST TREATMENT..and Location of the melanoma.I still love the sun....I just don't go for the Baking my Butt Off days anymore. And yeah, a good sunscreen that doesn't make you feel gross helps. A really good one I just tried in England when it was super hot is by Garnier called Ambre Solaire UV Sensitive Ulta SPF 50+. While 50+ seems extreme...this was the only sunscreen that protected me and didn't feel gross or sticky. It is fairly new (and by far the best) in the Garnier lineup.

grr, we have no garnier here, except hair products. i've never seen it.
i'm glad it was early detection! i'm assuming it's gone or whatever? sorry, i'm not TOO familiar with it, so i don't know the correct lingo.

Sorry about your sunburn, Jennifer! I used to get burnt like that as a kid. Doesn't help that I'm so fair-skinned. Glad you're feeling better though and don't forget that sunscreen!
