Okay, I've been noticing that there is not alot of D2B participation. I myself have been a MUTer for a long time now, and I only lost my D2B virginity to the current D2B.

Just like the Notepads, I think this a an awesome, but grossly under-participated feature on MUT!

So guys and gals, do you D2B? If not, why?

What do you think it would take to see more participation?

And for those of you that participate, what motivates you?

For me, I've ALWAYS, since the very first day I joined, wanted to participate, but I always chickened out until now! I was just so intimidated by the awesome skills some of these participants have!

Its just not my thing... I do vote at every challenge though.

I do notice that there is a trend with it... as it has become more of a popularity/beauty contest than a make-up application contest.

I notice that more people join the ones that require minimal effort in makeup application. If it is something that requires more effort, less people join, although I must say, those that join the tough challenges (like the d2b feline) really do an awesome job.

I must say I am sad that I wasnt a member yet when the previous d2b's took place (like the very first ones) as those are actually challenging and I would love to have joined those (like the d2b a man and the disney characters).

I have done them since the first one ever. My first ones sucked, but over time I got better....Partly because I forced myself to try. There are a few months I missed, and I am bummed about that.

I do them because they are fun, you get a chance to try on a character and do something different. I like to see all the interpretations of each challenge. It's like Grown-Up Dress Up!!

I disagree that it is a beauty/popularity contest. I think what happens is the same people enter again and again. If more people entered there would be more people to choose from. As for a beauty contest....I just don't understand that at all, we can't help that MUT is brimming with hotties of all ethnicities, shapes, ages and styles.

I hope more people start entering and that DTB becomes a really fun feature on MUT. It's not how well you do(in your own eyes)...it's that you even had the courage to try. We are own worst critics, I almost never seen a bad DTB entry!!

if i had a digital camera i'd be all over that.

i just have a webcam which when i take pictures you cant see what my makeup is or whatever.

I think Its definitely intimidation for me. It's not that I'm afraid I'll look stupid. God knows that I have looked stupid many times in my life. I just don't feel like my skills are enough to contribute... Right now and since the beginning, I watch and continue to learn from those of you that are so good at it but I think I'll jump in one day....just not quite yet.

I have entered, but if the competition topic is something I dont feel comfortable with, then I definately wont enter, because I feel I dont have the skills for that look.

As for the rest of the time, sometimes I just dont get around to entering, what with uni, and my personal life and so on... I like to look at the entrants though, I was sad that the winners circle section seems to have faded out a bit.. I liked to look at the past entrant winners for ALL the contests.

I have a combination of things. First, I don't have a digital camera. Second, I am still new to makeup and don't have a ton of expertise. Thirdly, as a male I'd feel a bit weird putting myself into a contest like this with all the women on this board.

I've entered before! lol!

I'd enter now, but if I do...it probably shouldn't be included in the voting since it might be considered a conflict of interest! lol!

I wish D2B challenges were viewed more as challenging yourself to see what you're capable of. I like that the voting encourages everyone to try their best, but I wish people wouldn't worry so much about that! It's supposed to be fun!

I'm having a hard enough time daring to be a girl let alone anything else!! lol

I havent entered because I dont have a camera and if i did id probably be too lazy to enter anyway.

That's how I see it also. I may love Manders to death but might vote for someone else I believe did the challange more to my liking or whatever. So, you may say it's a popularity contest - but not all vote for their best bud on here.
Anycrap - I've entered here and there depending on the challenge and availability of products needed. I wanted to enter that one bedazzled challenge but couldn't because I didn't have those stones. Makeup beginners might want to start of with simpler challenges because it won't take much effort. Either way, I like them all - challenging or not. It's just getting into the spirit of things really...

I hope more do enter. I don't even care for the votes... I just like looking at the pictures. I have actually pulled some out and modified the look for myself or save to my collection in hopes to use it one day for Halloween or something to do with my students.

This challenge may not have seemed challenging to everyone, but it sure as hell was challenging to me and I'm sure ALOT of others! And I agree with Celly and Manders, it's not a popularity contest, imo. For instance, I think Manders is super, heck I'm talking with her on msn as I type this but I don't *always* vote for her. I voted for La_Chinita more than once, and I've never actually spoken to her before except to comment on her entries!

So....you guys are worried. Think you aren't good enough? Here is my first ever DTB entry... DTB an Egyptian Princess...

EWWWWWWWWWWW.... Check out the unblended shadow, the awful brows, The crazy excessive bronzer. Oh and I was 50 lbs heavier...

I am putting myself out there though...and I learned and got better. Maybe some of you can gain courage or inspiration from this awful pic of me....LOL

Ditto to you, Celly and Kee, this aint a popularity issue, it is hard work, and I commend anyone that does it.

Manders, I still think this was a great entry but I can definitely see where you improved. Absolutely an inspiration to me, thanks for posting!

Sheep for Manders!
