Love this. I'm that type of girl too, want to help out people and show thanks for all the hard work they do. I was TEN lbs. over on my last international flight so I took out a bunch of Bath and Bodyworks body washes that I got in my two Beauty Army accounts over a couple of months, a body scrub from Cravebox and a sugar scrub from Zoya (that hurt, wanted that one most, but whatcha gonna do? It was an extra and I didn't want to pay $40 for a second suitcase this time) and a bunch of other little things that I was going to make into gift baskets/boxes and put them in a nice Zoya bag and went up to the ladies that looked the least uptight and the most friendly at the airport (who worked there) and said, "Boy, it'd be a shame to have to throw away all of this stuff . . . (long pause) . . . I don't suppose you could take it, could you?" and she smiled and said, "Hand it over!" lol I love random acts of kindness. I knew that my stuff was probably overweight, I put the rest that was for other people (chocolate, candy, tea, etc) in my backpack to carry on and made do with the couple extra lbs. on my back and made someone's day by not just throwing the extra stuff that I couldn't fit into my Ziplock out. It's the honor system, I didn't use or alter any of the stuff, it was brand new, but I can see why others wouldn't accept things from random people.
This is my problem. My mailman isn't really MY mailman, he's my grandparents' mailman, since I live out of country I use their mailing address. They live in a condo complex where you have your mail in a box with a key so they don't see him often. I'd like to give him something as a bonus, a treat, a thank you for delivering all of my various boxes and orders but I don't know exactly how to do it. Any ideas? Or what to give? A gift card, perhaps?
I do give the cable guys and internet guys and various people who have to come to my house for work cold beverages, I gave one guy a Pepsi, I bought it at a local store but generally they're not available here, the Coke company is a monopoly and it's against the law to import other sodas. He hadn't had one since he'd been a kid. That was fun to share and talk about. I think people here would definitely take homemade baked goods but I can see where a lot of people decide not to eat anything that isn't wrapped from the factory. It's cool that your mailman trusts you and that you have a great relationship.
Yesterday I received my samples from Jane Iredale (a mini mascara tube and mini lash conditioner), Tatcha (a bunch of foils and some blotting papers, nice stuff cutely wrapped and included instructions and coupon code, paid $1.95 for shipping), and Dr. Ci:Labo (similar style to the Tatcha package, but free). Today I received my samples from REN--wow! First of all, their customer service was super kind. Second, they sent six samples! Third, the samples were totally tailored to what I told them about my skin concerns, and they were in nice squeeze tubes, not foil packets. They are making a really good impression on me so far. I haven't tried the products yet, and I'm already wanting to purchase from them. The package was a bubble mailer and the envelope shown below had the samples in it. I received: Active 7 Radiant Eye Gel 0.1 fl oz No. 1 Purity Cleansing Balm 0.17 fl oz Micro Polish Cleanser 0.5 fl oz Frankincense Revitalising Night Cream 0.1 fl oz Multi Mineral Pore Minimising Detox Mask 0.17 fl oz (I am the most excited for this one; I hope it works! Dumb pores.) Mayblossom T-Zone Control Cleansing Gel 0.17 fl oz Whew, I totally need to get my blog going so I can test, review, and report. (And vent some of the excitement to give my husband and my brother a break.)
Aw, thanks. A restaurant gift card is a great idea, that was sweet of you to remember that he and his family like Applebees. Now I have to figure out a way to stalk my grandparents' mailperson when I'm there, I don't even know if it's a man or a woman, I just know they carry my share of the packages and I'm appreciative for that for sure. It's not like I can just tape it to the mailbox or mail it to them, ha ha. There are a lot of other grandparently types in that condo area, I should just ask a neighbor, older people sometimes take note of things like what time the mail gets there and who the mailperson is and such. I'm on a mission!Originally Posted by OiiO /img/forum/go_quote.gif
You are really such a nice person sweetiegirlll!
As for the present ideas for your mailman, I got mine a gift card to Applebees for Christmas last year. I remember he once mentioned that he loves going there with his family when we talked about some kind of sweet promotion they had at the time. So I thought it would be a good idea to have his next family meal there on me /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
I LOVE their Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain. It gives my lips the perfect peachy pink color that is perfect for an everyday look. I'm so happy they sent me samples because I would have never known how great their products are otherwise!Originally Posted by Mandy Kane /img/forum/go_quote.gif
I am loving everything Jane Iredale! I have several samples through Sample Society and some just by emailing them. I'm pretty sure once I'm done with my samples I will be ordering more of the pressed powder. I THINK i've been using the Purepressed Base with SPF (samples weren't labeled real good) and I love it! Also I love the mascara!
I've been in contact with their marketing manager Elham. I'm testing products for them and posting reviews. Same thing with GK Hair. That's great! They wouldn't even send me samples! They told me to find a store and ask for samples there. Who did you speak with?
i got a bunch of samples from Aubrey, too, but i don't like the way any of the smell. haven't tried the shampoo, conditioner or sea buckthorn bath yet.Originally Posted by OiiO /img/forum/go_quote.gif
From what I've tried so far I absolutely love Vegecol moisturizing cream from Aubrey Organics, it's a true lightweight moisturizer for oily/combination skin and it absorbs immediately!
