They want me to test their products and submit reviews. So today a package arrived with two full-size products. Their day cream that is worth $59 and their 30 SPF sunscreen worth $36. Both are 1.7 oz size.
That's great!  They wouldn't even send me samples!  They told me to find a store and ask for samples there.  Who did you speak with?

It seems to be so hit and miss. I wonder if they have an amount per day or something that they are allotted. That would make sense to me, to keep the samples within their advertising/marketing budget. It's also possible that they are instructed to use discernment and try to figure out if it's just a freebie-seeker, or someone who is genuinely interested in trying the product. As much as I love free things, samples definitely get me to buy where I wouldn't otherwise. I got those nice samples from Mario Badescu, and I ordered full size and recommend their products to my family.

My mail person deserves it. It is not typical of me to say such a thing, but I've never had such horrible mail service. We receive neighbors' mail and vice versa at least twice a week! Not the same neighbor, all different ones. He stuffs packages in our box that have no business trying to fit in such a small box; one time I literally couldn't get the package out, and other times I have to wrestle with the packages. I have to order as many samples as I do because I'm afraid I'll only get half of them! (Hey, that's a nice justification...) A while back, the neighbors started a petition to try to replace our mail person. I missed it! I totally would have signed. I don't wish him to get fired, I just wish him to read our unit number correctly.

I didn't receive any of the samples yet that I listed, by the way. I just sent out all the e-mails Friday/Saturday. Some of the replies were super fast, over the weekend even. I think it's so smart to send out samples when they can afford it. I would otherwise be inclined to buy from other companies that do, or just the ones that I get from my sample subs.

I get tons of samples too! Magazines, online shopping orders, beauty boxes, Lol. My mailman is super busy. I hope they don't mind, lol it is their job and they get paid pretty well so i hope they don't secretly hate all the people that gets TONS of mail. haha

I have a great mailman, he always delivers all of my mail right to the front door and hands it to me personally, and I give him treats like chocolate or homemade cookies and offer him cold drinks at summer :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I will really miss him after hubby and I move across the state :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

That's a nice relationship. We have a great mailman at work, so pleasant.

Yesterday I received my samples from Jane Iredale (a mini mascara tube and mini lash conditioner), Tatcha (a bunch of foils and some blotting papers, nice stuff cutely wrapped and included instructions and coupon code, paid $1.95 for shipping), and Dr. Ci:Labo (similar style to the Tatcha package, but free).

Today I received my samples from REN--wow! First of all, their customer service was super kind. Second, they sent six samples! Third, the samples were totally tailored to what I told them about my skin concerns, and they were in nice squeeze tubes, not foil packets. They are making a really good impression on me so far. I haven't tried the products yet, and I'm already wanting to purchase from them. The package was a bubble mailer and the envelope shown below had the samples in it. I received:

Active 7 Radiant Eye Gel 0.1 fl oz

No. 1 Purity Cleansing Balm 0.17 fl oz

Micro Polish Cleanser 0.5 fl oz

Frankincense Revitalising Night Cream 0.1 fl oz

Multi Mineral Pore Minimising Detox Mask 0.17 fl oz (I am the most excited for this one; I hope it works! Dumb pores.)

Mayblossom T-Zone Control Cleansing Gel 0.17 fl oz

Whew, I totally need to get my blog going so I can test, review, and report. (And vent some of the excitement to give my husband and my brother a break.)

Jane Iredale is, IMO, a bit on the spendy side, which is why I've never taken the plunge before now. However, this is a great way to try a lot of different products. I was pleasantly surprised.

I am loving everything Jane Iredale! I have several samples through Sample Society and some just by emailing them. I'm pretty sure once I'm done with my samples I will be ordering more of the pressed powder. I THINK i've been using the Purepressed Base with SPF (samples weren't labeled real good) and I love it! Also I love the mascara!

Wow, Ren was generous. Lucky girl!

Hey everyone,

So I have been looking at this site for almost a year but this is my first post.  I went on an email sending spree last night and got back quite a few responses.  The ones that I am going to post are the ones that said they would be happy to send samples (I won't bother posting the ones that said no)  I was surprised by how many said yes!!

shea terra- will send out a sample of the rose hips soap for 2.95 shipping

malin & goetz- will send out samples.. they asked me what I was interested in

naturapathica - said yes and are sending out Hi Christina,

I have put a few samples in the mail for you. You will receive a deluxe sample of Pear Fig Polishing Enzyme Peel (to use for 3-5 minutes, 1-2 times per week), a packet of Cassis Ultra Replenishing Cream and a packet of Aloe Cleansing Gel.

REN - asked me about my skin and will send samples

strivectin - said they would send me samples but to call 877-722-7770 so they could find out more about my skin, called this morning and the customer service agent really didn't want to help me but finally said that she would send out a few samples but that they were one time use packets.. I'm sure if you talk to another agent you will probably have better luck

evelom- said they would be happy to send out samples and asked a few questions about my skin

elemental herbology- are sending out samples just asked for my address

I will update this when I hear back from more companies : )

I like the idea of the mascara being in a squeeze tube so that you can get all of the product.

Love this.  I'm that type of girl too, want to help out people and show thanks for all the hard work they do.  I was TEN lbs. over on my last international flight so I took out a bunch of Bath and Bodyworks body washes that I got in my two Beauty Army accounts over a couple of months, a body scrub from Cravebox and a sugar scrub from Zoya (that hurt, wanted that one most, but whatcha gonna do?  It was an extra and I didn't want to pay $40 for a second suitcase this time) and a bunch of other little things that I was going to make into gift baskets/boxes and put them in a nice Zoya bag and went up to the ladies that looked the least uptight and the most friendly at the airport (who worked there) and said, "Boy, it'd be a shame to have to throw away all of this stuff . . . (long pause) . . . I don't suppose you could take it, could you?" and she smiled and said, "Hand it over!"  lol  I love random acts of kindness.  I knew that my stuff was probably overweight, I put the rest that was for other people (chocolate, candy, tea, etc) in my backpack to carry on and made do with the couple extra lbs. on my back and made someone's day by not just throwing the extra stuff that I couldn't fit into my Ziplock out.  It's the honor system, I didn't use or alter any of the stuff, it was brand new, but I can see why others wouldn't accept things from random people.

This is my problem.  My mailman isn't really MY mailman, he's my grandparents' mailman, since I live out of country I use their mailing address.  They live in a condo complex where you have your mail in a box with a key so they don't see him often.  I'd like to give him something as a bonus, a treat, a thank you for delivering all of my various boxes and orders but I don't know exactly how to do it.  Any ideas?  Or what to give?  A gift card, perhaps?

I do give the cable guys and internet guys and various people who have to come to my house for work cold beverages, I gave one guy a Pepsi, I bought it at a local store but generally they're not available here, the Coke company is a monopoly and it's against the law to import other sodas.  He hadn't had one since he'd been a kid.  That was fun to share and talk about.  I think people here would definitely take homemade baked goods but I can see where a lot of people decide not to eat anything that isn't wrapped from the factory.  It's cool that your mailman trusts you and that you have a great relationship.

I emailed Kerastase because the hubby loves one of their shampoos (which I've replaced three times now) but it's $38 a bottle so I wanted to know if they could send samples of their other shampoos and said they only send samples with a purchase! I told them I purchase their products from Birchbox and have twice times (the third time was yesterday). Since they won't or can't provide me with samples - even foil samples are fine - I know I won't be buying the hubby any more of their shampoos.

Just to clarify why I come off as pissy about this is because those "free" samples aren't really "free" on Kerastase's site.

Birchbox price: $38 - no shipping and no tax but no samples.

Kerastase price: $38 - plus $5 shipping plus tax, can pick three foil samples.

Total price for me $46.20 through Kerastase site for three "free" foil samples. To me those free samples end up being more like $8.20 so it's not a good deal for me to order from Kerastase for just try three WOMEN'S samples when I want to get him MEN'S samples to see if he likes anything else.

By the way, Ren rocks.  Love that they were so generous.  I never, never, never in a million years thought I'd ever even think of purchasing a $50 mask, are you kidding?!  But after trying their glycolic peel mask, I'm in love.  Sending samples works.  Full disclosure, mine was through Sample Society, but still, I'd probably fall in love with that awesome pore mask too, not to mention the night time stuff.  Maybe I should email them . . .

Plus, those small tubes last a surprisingly long time.  I think I got about 4/5 masks out of mine.  That's pretty great.
