@@SaraP -  Welcome to the dark (Ulta) side.

I know I go against the grain, but I prefer Ulta.  I love their promos and their rewards program.  I love that I ear points for using the salon.  I can't tell you how many times I've cashed in 2000points/$125 off pretty much ANYTHING.  Sephora has never given me a Dior gift set or a $50 tub of Vichy Nuit for mom.

I also find it very useful to go in there and buy the basics -- make up wipes, remover pads (like Swisspers), etc.  It is much more one stop shopping for me.

Also, I find that if I'm impulse shopping and find something I really want that is high-end, I can go over to the drugstore side and find a decent dupe with the help of some SA.  I do this mainly with respect to new colors of shadows/liners.  I know the formulations I like, but I find experimenting with color can be risky for me.  

I love being able to stack GWP, too.

I've tried to branch out a bit at least to the SiJCP, which is a 2 minute walk across a parking lot from the Ulta by my house.  The freestanding Sephora is 15 miles away (horrible drive), so I tend to avoid it.

I hope you find something GREAT with your gift card!!  I have $15 to use at Ulta -  I am going to hold onto it and use it during my 100 day no-buy if I need something.  Need.  Need.  Need.  (Not want.)

 
Question - do points you accumulate through the reward programs reset at the end of the year?  I've been saving mine up but would hate to loose them come January.  Also, do you have to requalify for Platinum each year as well?

Points will expire at the end of the quarter one year after the date they were earned. PLATINUM Members' points never expire as long as their Platinum status is maintained. You do need to spend 400$ a year to maintain the Platinum status.

 
The one order I managed to place using double coupons was cancelled. I think I have the worst luck. Maybe I'll have a pity party by myself now...haha only somewhat kidding.

In other news, I emailed Ulta back and said thanks for the $8 egift card, but I'd rather have a replacement polish.  Here is their response (which is fine, but...really?):

We apologize we are not able to request a reship for another color to replace the item that was broken. We also apologize that the item is no longer $8 and you are not able to purchase a new one due to the increase in price. We are not able to offer the sale price on a sale that has already ended and because the item was out of stock we could not reship the item, and that is why we issued a gift card for the amount you paid for the item.

I ended up emailing them to ask about my missing shipment of samples and the samples that were missing from my Cyber Monday order.

Will update when I know something.  

I know they were struggling to get orders out, so who knows what happened.  I don't expect another gift card (tho they're nice), but I would like to actually get what I was promised.

 
I emailed them and got no answer for like 6 days, so I called them today. They are gonna ship my missing item and resend my item that was damaged ;/

Told them about my missing samples and they didn't seem to care .. fab :/

 
I had an issue with an item in an order and the lack of a sample pack and they just completely ignored the lack of sample pack.

Ugh. Got my new sales ad today and it had the birthday gift for Jan, Feb & March...it is the small Ulta brand eyeshadow palette thingy that was previously posted by @ . Definitely a WIN for Sephora's Bday gift this year, totally beats out this LOL 

Since it is Free and they don't HAVE to give out anything at all, it's a nice gesture and I will get it and use it (I like their single shadows, so if the quality is the same hoorah!), but not as exciting (even the ck Mascara was more exciting and I have a plethora of mascara hoarded, it atleast was a pricier brand and there was no way I would have paid $18 just to try that out).

Anyway I'm following to make the most of this card because you girl know everything! Worst case I head in store for shampoo/conditioner.
Still kind of catching up on here, but right now Ulta has quite a bit of shampoo/conditioner on sale or B2G1F.  Actually I've been poring over the reviews trying to find some.  I've tried some different ones, and am liking my current one by Peter Coppola, but that one isn't at Ulta and I don't remember where I bought it.  Anyway I'd like to find one or two from Ulta because...well...ULTA!  Hahaha  I have discovered that I prefer Ulta over Sephora, strictly for the double up 20% off coupon but even for the 20% off everything and the bonus points on fragrance (I am a perfume whore!) and like @ said...more of a one stop shop.

But I will shop Sephora many times a day for a good promo (can they just. run. out. of. Algenist. eye. cream. ALREADY???????)  LOL!

My nieces gave me a gift card there for Christmas!  So cute!!  

Does anyone know what sample of Ouidad shampoo was in the recent GWP package?  It would have been the one prior to 12/6/14 (and prob two or three weeks before) because I used a sample shampoo from that brand and LOVED it!  I just don't know which one it was...I was trying to find a pic on past posts...still looking as I know a few people posted some of the GWP's.  Thanks! 

 
I complained about something recently -- oh, it was not being able to add the Pur Minerals promo like 3 minutes after I submitted my order.  For that I rec'd a $10 gc.

Then I received my 2nd order w/ ZERO samplers (one skincare, one variety) and complained after the 2nd one.  They sent another gc ($15?) and they are sending out a 'bunch' of samples directly to me.

This should be interesting.  I think they're taking a page from Birchbox's customer service manual.  (IT would be funny if the samples arrived via next day air!  Guffaw!)

I'm curious, how did you complain?  Did you call or did you go through the website?

I found by calling they are MUCH nicer, and by email they don't answer the asked question.  That is my all time biggest pet peeve...please JUST ANSWER THE ASKED QUESTION!  If I'm going to wait a week to hear back from you - BE THOROUGH!!  UGH.  Yes, I'm yelling at Ulta.  In a very I-love-you-Ulta-but-your-pissing-me-off way!

Yes, I emailed.  I hate the phone.  One of my dogs FREAKS when I'm on the phone.  (Truman says AWHHHOOOOOO!)

If I don't hear back in 48 hours (Thurs excluded), I'll call.  When I complained about the Pur Minerals I called.  Lately I've just emailed.

I tried taking a pic to post, but my phone isn't showing the color of the packaging properly, so it probably wouldn't help (the package is kind of an ombre from white to light pink with silver smoke like plumes at the bottom).

 
I wish there was a way (or maybe there is - please let me know) to "give" someone the points on your account. I think I have like, nearly 200 and I swear I am never shopping at Ulta again, so I wish someone else could take them! YES!!  And I just got a PM from @ with the link to the picture - that is EXACTLY IT!  I LOOOOOOOOOOVE it!  I have spent at least three hours obsessing over which ones to try and now I don't have to out of necessity, I can leisurely sample for a new backup...decision made...GWP and bonus points on becca here I come!  Oh happy me!!

I bought two bottles tonight!  Or, last night...oops...but I bought one other one on sale that I wanted to try too, as a back up.  I hate when I HAVE to find something new.  Ok, that was a bit strong...not hate...but I would rather not do it NOW (that sounds a little better).   Of course I could prob find my Peter Coppola online somewhere, but then I have to use it up and that will take a VERY long time and I want that Ouidad! 

 
beauty break right now!  I happen to LOVE LOVE LOVE the Michael Kors perfume so I'm super excited.  Plus, I've been eyeing the Becca eye shadow palette for ever and finally bought that since Becca is 5x points right now.  Whoo-hoo!

I think it is a 4 hour beauty break...GO GO GO!!  LOL!

I finally bought a Becca highlighter yesterday. I also got one of the new Real Techniques brushes that are supposed to be more luxe than what they've put out before. I got a liter of AG shampoo, no idea if it's good or not, but when the liters are marked down this low AND I run out of shampoo, it's easy for me to purchase. I had an email offer for 400 extra points on an 80 purchase. All together my order was around $95 but my points were something crazy like 600 points for the order! I was pumped until I got the email for today's Beauty Break! I missed out on that one, but I'm doing ok...about 1/4 of the way back to re-earning my platinum status and close to 1000 points in the bank.
