No matter what I do my hair looks soooo blah! It is starting to make me really mad. My hair always looks so damaged. I just want it to look HEALTHY! I use a flat iron but I use stuff to help with the heat. I dont know what to do anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Any great conditioners/shampoos..or anything. I also have layers in the back and they seem to NEVER fall right. The top layers either go out or to the side or something. I just wish my hair would behave!

Yes I use a deep conditioning every week. sometimes a week and a half..I forget sometimes. I use Aussie 3 min miracle deeeep stuff and sometimes I use a Paul Mitchell kind.

I use a flat iron every morning.

I used to use Thermasilk a looong time ago. I used to like it, prolly still will. Maybe I will try that. IDK. I have a buncha shampoos and one bottle of conditioner! haha. I have a Paul Mitchell Smooth kind..not really liking it. I have Redken All Soft that I just bought. Matrix Smooth..but its just about gone. I heard that Got2B Hottie is really good. Ive never used that brand though.

oh yea i have some of that left!!! haha. im using that tomorrow for sure! it was really expensive [for the size] so I tried not to use that much of it. Tryin to make it last and what not.

If your hair is damaged, you need to start babying it.

Put away the flat iron - it is probably hurting your hair the most.

One way to have instant healthy looking hair is with serum.

When your hair is dry and styled, rub a drop of serum between your hands.

Then rub into hair starting at the bottom, working to top. Don't rub into scalp as it can make the roots oily. brush or comb if needed.

The shine from the serum will make hair look healthier .

Maybe get a low-matinence haircut that you can deal with w/o using a flat iron. Then just start babying your hair, not using heat on it and using lots of repairing and moisturizing products. Eventually new hair should grow in nice n healthy. Then try to keep the heat to a minimum, and keep babying your hair. Always use a comb, not a brush when it's wet. Always comb from the ends up, and don't tug out the tangles. Don't wash your hair everyday if you can help it, go a day or two in between. Protect your hair from the sun/chlorine/saltwater, etc. Don't color your hair. All these things can damage your hair.

im gonna try my hardest to do all these things. its hard for me to not use a flat iron. my hair gets so icky and big when I dont. Actually, I just got a haircut a week or 2 ago and my hair still looks icky. I bought an expensive flat iron b/c i was told that it wont damage your hair as much as a cheapo one. Hmmm.. but anyway. can you guys suggest any kinds of shampoo/conditioner that will help my hair become healthy looking? I am guessing I need a type of moisturizing conditioner/shampoo. Also, I heard if you only shampoo your hair every other day it will help your hair.

i know how u feel i took my hair from dark brow/black to platinum blonde and I am still dealing with the concequences. My hair was down to my mid back and had to be cut off at the shoulders because i wanted it blnde in one treatment. Needless to say it did go christina agulara platinum but it damaged my hair. I havent used a flat iron in god knows how long and when i do its for special occasions. MY hairs almost back to normal now though. I dyed it to cover the blonde and my natural hair is about to my shoulders. I still have alot of damaged sections to part with. I leave conditioner in my hair all the time. MY hairs always loaded up with leave in conditioners from panteen and aussie and on days when Im not doing anything i buy packets of deep conditioners and leave them on my hair for 2 days. this is a weekly process. It has helped my hair alot. I also dont shampoo my hair. I rinse it and shampoo the roots about every 3-4 weeks.

Good luck with your hair. I had mine highlighted 2-3 months ago. That prolly didnt help me any. I use the Aussie 3 Min Miracle Deeeep stuff..and i love it!! The new hair place I go to offers something they call the hair recovery treatment. Maybe I should call em and see what they all do and how much it costs. That might help as well.

do you think it would help if i took a shower at night and let my hair air dry and then straighten in the morning?? [at a low temp] i never let my hair air dry b/c of the way it looks after. i do put it up in a towl for a long time though.

I wash my hair every 4 days. Might increase to every 3 days with the hot weather.

I blow dry my bangs but I let the rest air dry. I put my hair in two pony tails while it dries, so It's not too curly.

I like the idea of you wash your hair at night and styling the next day.

I only by inexpensive products. I use a White Rain shampoo. I like L'oreal shampoos and Panteen conditioners. I use got2b syling products. Nothing I buy is over $5.

16 months ago, I had long auburn coloured hair. It was damaged and started to look kind of caramel coloured. I cut off at least 12 inches so to jaw length. For a year, I would cut off an inch every other month. At Christmas, I got layers and I started to grow it again. And I coloured it med brown.

So now, my hair looks pretty darn healthy. Colour suits me better. Sometimes you have to get rid of unhealthy damaged hair, to get the hair you really want.

I want to try the Got2b products but I have enough shampoos and what not to go around. I use a Tresemme Heat Spray and Loreal HOt Straight creme. it all works pretty well. I love how Tresemme is so cheap. I might try some other products though. I hate it when other girls have like the BEST hair and I know they use a flat iron and use chemicals on them all the time. im so jealous! haha.

Tresemme and L'oreal both make good styling products.

When I would get my hair professionally blown out, there would be other girls getting blow outs as well. Because their hair was relatively straight to begin with, their hair looked better than mine - I have wavy curly hair.

I would think that their hair could cut glass, it was so straight. I was really jealous!

So I know how you feel.

If you are going to put your hair back, stay away from the iron so your hair will have a rest. And try the serum trick - got2b has a great serum called Glossy $5.

Just use a drop size and your hair should look better with the extra shine.

I'd put the flat iron away, and find a gentle, detergent-free shampoo. I know of Terressentials Pure Earth Hair Wash and Chaz Dean WEN Cleansing Conditioners (sold on QVC), and they're supposed to be "miracle" workers. Might take a bit getting used to, since they don't lather up.

Eat healthy (fish, colorful veggies, etc), take a multi-vitamin, and iron and biotin supps.

Also, if you're up for it, maybe chop the hair off as short as you dare to start over fresh.

John Frieda's Sheer Blonde line has "Dream Cream". The Brilliant Brunette line also has this cream (just a different name). Sorry, I can't remember that name.

I have used both products. I am using Dream Cream now, since I'm blonde now. My hair gets breakage from wearing it up. My ends are dry from the coloring. This cream transforms dry/broken hair into beautiful shiny soft hair. I've used it for several years and I would highly recommend it.

Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat once a week...leave it in for 15 minutes and rinse...try to use cold water if possible...

growing up in a salon and working in one i have tried every product out there (salon products) and the best stuff imo is biolage conditioning balm, and joico k-pac... the aussie three minute deep is awsome too, i use aussie more now that my hair is healthy cause it doesnt need heavy conditioner.

if i were you i would keep getting reg trims and try to wash your hair every other day longer if you can stand it but only use the iron on the days you wash your hair. you could even use a protien treatment once or twice a month joico k-pac reconstructer is my fav, once you put in your hair wrap it in a towel for 15 mins then rinse, after you rinse follow with a hydrater/moisture conditioner leave on 10 mins then rinse.
