Thank you so much for your response, Marci! I've heard great things about Starlooks products (a lot of associations with the high end brands you mentioned). I'm sure I'll get over my weird reservations once I actually try the products (I've only been watching and admiring so far). For $15, I don't have much to lose. I had 7 (yikes, I think I have a problem) beauty box subscriptions this month, and I certainly don't mind adding another quality one.

Thanks for bringing up the information about the formulation and manufacturing of the line. There are a lot of companies that use manufacturers in China, so it's great to hear that Starlooks is manufactured in the US with quality ingredients.

I'll definitely try to sign up in time for the May box, and I can't wait to see what everyone got in April's box!
The cool thing about this sub is you don't have to sub to get a box. Past boxes are usually available for $25 after the subscribers get their boxes, so you can also pick up a box (at a little extra cost) to try it and see if the products work for you.

Cant wait for my box! To the people worried about the quality of Starlooks, I'd say give it a chance and let the products speak for themselves. I was also hesitant at first, but I think it was because the Starbox contained Starlooks' own products and I was unfamiliar with the brand. This is my fifth month and possibly my favorite of all my subs (currently 7). I've been happy with every box so far and got some amazing products that I wouldn't have bought on my own.

I am so on-the-fence about this sub. Compared to the other subscription beauty boxes, you get great makeup products, but it's really hard for me not to associate this brand with a Mary Kay, Avon, or those makeup subscription services you could sign up for in Seventeen Magazine in the 90s. I don't mean this in an insulting way. It's probably just because it doesn't deal with recognizable makeup brands. I've been looking at the past months on the website, and the makeup looks nice. I guess I have until April 31st to make up my mind for the May box.
When I first heard about this subscription, I had the exact same misgivings as you, except it was the '80s rather than the '90s for me.  Then the February box sucked me in because ALL OF THE PINK, so I ordered a post-release box.  And while I was at it, I tossed in the Lauren Clark Signature collection because, eh, why not.  I had just gotten an unexpected bonus at work, and I was curious.  The quality of those two sucked me in like whoa.  I ended up subscribing starting with the March box *and* ordering the January box, and then I ended up ordering a bunch of eye liners and shadows with the discount code in the March box.  I wasn't wild about the March box, but that was all due to my own pickiness (I hate mascara, and I have a block against wearing rust in the spring) than the quality (lovelove*love* the navy shadow, and the rust lipstick will come in handy in the fall when I want an autumnal lipstick but never quite manage to remember to *buy* one).

But once I tried the items I received, a light went on in my head:  This is the ground floor of a cult line.  Try this stuff now so you can smirk at your friends in five years when they *finally* get around to discovering a brand you've been using almost as long as they've been existed.  They only send their own stuff, but so does Julep.  I think the old '80s/'90s subscriptions were just a way to get cheap factory overruns cleared out, and they counted on people forgetting to cancel.  This is a quality brand working on getting a foothold in a very picky market.  I think it takes guts to start a subscription service nowadays, and it takes a good product to grow that service -- and it takes amazing customer service to win over the MUT gang, and this company has hit the trifecta.  We have no problem letting people know when a company or product is not up to par, and the fact that our only real complaints (at least the only ones I can think of) are of the ARE WE THERE YET? variety is a very good sign.

Another thing, in the threads for previous months there's nothing but raves, not a single complaint. Sure, not every color will be to every person's liking, but that's just part of getting a subscription box.

I agree with meaganola about the cult status. I think this is an up-and-coming brand and I feel cool using it knowing many people won't find out about it until a couple years from now when it's really popular.

THIS! I'm right there with ya babe! Awesome quality product and definitely a sub I'm never cancelling!

Does Starlooks always send out this late into the month? I subbed to May, and was hoping I would see the box before May 23rd, but as April is, I doubt I will. x:

They typically ship during the third week. I've gotten two months so far and both came around the 23 or 24th I  think.

My shipping still just says the USPS has received electronic shipping info. Hopefully it will just show up or I'll get some activity on the tracking soon.

Ah. I am going away on the 23rd-26th, and the box could have possibly helped on my vacation. *Shrug* Oh well, coming back depressed, it would be a highlight to look forward to I suppose.

I was in the same as a few of you, when I heard about this sub.  I had not done subs to that point because of the awful ones in the 80's that my mom subscribed me to.  Never anything I liked, terrible quality.  In fact those put me off makeup altogether for years.  I did a few google searches to look for quality reviews, and then figured it's just $15 bucks.  Not much of a gamble.  I was so pleasantly surprised at the quality, and I've let all my friends try the products (except the mascara, that's just not sanitary, lol) and so far each have ordered something - mainly lip glosses.  None have signed up for the box yet but I think it's just a matter of time.  As far as the mascara goes, this is the only one I've used that does not make my eyes water and it has the added plus of no clumps, but makes my lashes look almost fake if I curl them first.  Holy grail product for me.

I think you will be pleased.  Even though the colors were not what I would pick if I were standing in a store, I find I reach for those products more than any other brand's products I have - especially the gloss and the hd fluid blush.

I'm loving it (the second product), it's my first one, definitely see why others loved it in past months.

I added pics to my post, btw.

Very nice box! I have really been loving lash primers lately!
Yep, my favorite is made by Jane Iredale, but I'm hoping I would like Starlooks primer more because it's obviously way more affordable :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Mmhmm, the only other one I've tried was much more expensive (this one is only $15) so I'm hoping to love it...I plan to try it out today, hoping to have good things to report!

I received my box as well! LOVE IT!

Translucent Mineral Powder (I love the puff)
Mint Lip Balm (I ADORE MINT)
Lash Boost Mascara Base (so excited to use this!)
and I received the Tender Gloss Lipstick in African Sunset which is a gorgeous shimmery mauve-pink!
