Whooo, lots of fun talk about perfumes. I LOVE the original L'Eau de Issey. My Aunt bought my a bottle as a gift in high school and it sat proudly on my dresser with Angel for several years! The variations, though, I am not a fan of - I don't do "clean" scents in general.

All the Chloe variations are a no-go for me. I can tolerate Roses for a bit, but after a while even that gives me a headache.

But if you like clean, fresh florals the new Balenciaga B. might be perfect. It reminds me of something I can't put my finger on - maybe Chance? Not sure, but it very nice and not too flowery, just fresh and clean and a bit like lily.

I love the bottles for Balenciaga's fragrances, too. I wish I could find one I'd actually wear because they look gorgeous on a vanity!
I was just coming here to say how excited I am for the point promo for perfume because I'm going to get Balenciaga's new one!  Yes, it is reminiscent of Chance, but not exact.  It is very fresh and woody-but not manly or overly musky.

I didn't like the original Balenciaga one at all, but Balenciaga B. is awesome on me.

I also got the Chloe Love Story point perk, and it smelled okay in the bottle, but it smells straight up laundry soap once I put it on.  My husband asked me to get rid of it.  I love Chloe Roses though.

lol when I read the bolded line my first thought was "oh hellllllllll no" but then I went back and saw laundry soap and while I like the clean smell of Tide, etc., it would be a waste of money to buy a bottle of perfume if it just smelled like your detergent. Still... if my bf ever flat out asked me to get rid of some of my makeup/perfume (that I like) I would probably just silently stare at him until he backtracked

I really love rose scented perfumes, and am always on the hunt (Jo Malone Red Roses is delightful, but the lasting power is only so-so) Chloe's is so nice off the bat, but the drydown is a little too much of the white musk that always smells like fresh linen to me - a perfectly pleasant scent, just not one I want to wear on my body!

Eau de Cartier Goutte de Rose is another rose scent I like, but once again the longevity is only so-so. Ironically Roses de Chloe has better lasting power than any of my current collection of rose scents! :smilehappyyes:

I'm literally the double posting queen lately. My bad.

Luckily my hubby barely notices anything...so I do what I want!...but if I had a fragrance that he couldn't stand I'd get rid of it.
I agree - my hubby doesn't care, and he's used to my tastes by now, but if he told me something was atrocious I'd ditch it. I'd make him do the same, so I think willingness to compromise is in order. :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I'm just a horrible stubborn creature haha. If it were makeup that he didn't like (e.g. My penchant for blue and purple lipsticks) I'd flat out tell him to dealwithit.gif. He's not a big fan of any of my lipsticks tbh because he always ends up wearing more of it than I do   but he's never complained about it. If it's a migraine inducing fragrance (or the dreaded "that's my mom's perfume...") I still wouldn't ditch it if it were something I loved, but I would definitely try to not wear it around him.

I first got this brand in BB and now I think I might have a problem - I have a cream tube by my bed, a mini cream tube (from BB) in my purse as well as a lipbalm, another cream tube in my bathroom makeup drawer...and I just purchased more ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
I wish I had known. I seem to have had about 50 random deluxe Yu-be samples and tossed them, thinking no one would want them haha

Hahaha.

He knew it was "free" since I used points for it (because I told him before he smelled it).  Usually I don't buy anything he has to smell or look at that he flat out hates or can't stand, unless I just absolutely love it hands down and don't give a "F" what he thinks.  But we surprisingly have pretty similar tastes etc, so that doesn't happen often.

He didn't like the perfume, said it smelled like cheap laundry soap, and that I don't like smelly soap like that, so why would I want a perfume like it?  Which makes sense.

I really want to try diptyque's rose perfume.  I wish Sephora would carry this brand, at least online. I don't know if it lasts any longer, but I want to try it.

Have you tried Issey Miyake floral (pink bottle), it is rose.  I just finished my bottle, but I don't remember it having quite so much musk in the dry down compared to Chloe roses.

Ooh, I haven't! /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I will look for it - hopefully I can get a sample!

There's a duo of atelier orange and vanille for $18 at sephora. I bought it, but really only got it for the orange.  I don't really like the vanille... it's too sweet for me.  I sprayed it in the store and couldn't get the smell off me fast enough. but i can't get enough of the orange.  since you like vanille and like citrus maybe this is the perfect set for you:

I'm not sure if you'll like chloe but i love it and also love that it's so often a sample. i have a bunch of the sample vials and keep one in my purse at all times.

my favorite mj is honey, i think. dream may be next, but when i tried it, it was so similar to others from mj that i didn't really want to try it any more, if that makes sense. (not unique to me) i tried daisy but it was too floral for me, and tried eau fresh, which is okay (better than daisy) but it's too much fruit and not enough floral i think. i don't know... hard to describe. none of them are my favorite tho. i wouldn't buy a big bottle.  there are others i'd get before them, i guess. (and i use so little perfume that it's a huge waste to have so many big bottles)
We sound very much alike with the perfumes we like.  I love orange blossom perfumes, like L'Artisan Perfumeur La Chasse, or L'Occitane's Neroli Orchidee...I like one that I rec'd in a birchbox awhile back too, orange sanguine or something...I need to look it up.  I actually forgot about that one until just now LOL!.

I also like Honey and Chloe.  I'm not familiar with the Atelier one you mentioned, but you enabled me!  Plus, there is a Caudalie Elixir as a sample, and I tried promo EYEMINI again, and the Algenist Genius Eye Cream is back (alternatively, if you use DELIGHT you can still get the Fresh Black Tea Eye Cream that used to be in EYEMINI).

My tastes have definitely changed over the years though, my very first love was Love's Baby Soft, an Avon perfume for girls, if I recall correctly.  Then I remember this one called or by 'Verve' and it was a drugstore perfume but I LOVED it!

I have a ton that I wouldn't wear now at all, and some I kinda scratch me head and go really?  Like Gucci No 3! LOL!!  And I mean I WORE it, heavy...oh man, that wasn't a good one I don't think.  But I used to also wear Jessica McClintock, Benneton, Heaven from The Gap and I think Night from The Gap?  Can't quite remember.  Anyway I go through phases and sometimes I have a favorite one and it just doesn't work for my chemistry, like Eternity for Women...love the scent, but it doesn't love me! Oh, Boucheron!  LOVE BOUCHERON!  I could go on, but the ones you mentioned are very much what I'm into right now.  All things Orange Blossom.  I even ordered the body wash and lotion set that Sephora has in their sale section right now because they are Orange Blossom, they are very fragrant, but I haven't used them yet.

All this chat about perfumes has me now making a list for when the 3x points start!  Not a big list, but I'm going to try the orange one you mentioned for sure!  :smilehappyyes:

All this rose perfume talk makes me sad - I loooove how rose smells, but I'm allergic to it :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I know that the little eczema blisters on my hands freak out every time I touch rose related things. They pop up and itch to the point that I end up clawing all the skin off the affected fingers (usually index/thumb on both hands). I haven't ever tested how the rest of me reacts to rose, but I'd rather not find out lol.

ETA: it could very well be a localised sensitivity though, like how I can't ingest coconut without breaking out into hives, but I'm fine with coconut oil in my lipstick/etc.

@ I LOVE l'artisan la chasse aux papillons! It's my special occasion perfume along with atelier vanille insensee. It reminds me of MJ daisy when it's in the bottle, but muskier and more floral at the same time. Daisy just smells a little too much like an overly ripe cantaloupe once it's on me.  :wassatt:

did you have EDT or EDP?

I only ever bought EDT's.  I loved them, wore them, and know a lot of them, but never really understood the way all the variations work (still learning)...all I knew, is I wanted to smell pretty! ALWAYS!! Hahaha! So I bought what gave me the biggest bang for my buck.

I 100% concur hahaha if there is something my ex did that I couldn't stand, or something like he wanted a new (very, very. very.) bad haircut before an important event or something that I was TOTALLY against, I would compromise just to get him to never (fill in the blank) again!  WITHOUT A DOUBT! :rotfl:

Orange sanguine is the atelier one! It was a sample in Dec during the holiday gcs. Gotta go check out those others you mentioned!
I remember the gap scents! I think I loved heaven, and surprisingly, grass.

When is the 3x points? I must have missed it.

It does sort of smell like soap to me too! I love Chloe and chloe roses also.

Love the issey floral in the pink bottle! It only lasts for a few minutes on me tho, sadly. I didn't realize it was rose - no wonder I like it so much.

I think Feb 5 to 14th?  Something like that.  I can't believe I forgot Sung, by Alfred Sung.  I wore that for years, but either my last bottle was spoiled somehow, or I can't wear it anymore.  I'll be bummed if I can't wear it anymore.

Um, if we're going to talk about GAP scents, I need a tissue handy because I am still heartbroken that OM went the way of the dinosaur... :scared:

@ The most basic difference between EDT and EDP is that Eau de Toilette has a lower concentration of perfume oil, therefore it is usually cheaper. Eau de Parfum has a bit more perfume oil (on average 5% more), so it can smell a bit stronger and last longer (in theory). BUT sometimes the same scent in EDT and EDP smells totally different, so there's no harm in preferring one to the other - in general I find that a scent that seems a bit off in one variation works well in the other! :smilehappyyes:

@@nerdi Sephora 3x points on fragrance is February 5th - 15th, if I am not mistaken. :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

IMO, most Atelier scents actually smell better on men. Even the more traditionally feminine ones that I thought I wouldn't like made me want to jump my ex-fiance whenever he wore them.
