Do you all think that if I make a big purchase (e.g. ~$200) in store that I could ask a SA to put together a sample bag for me similar to what we might get if we purchased on line using a code?   If so, how do you recommend I ask?  Does it depend on the SA?  Also, I prefer the type of samples that come directly from the manufacturer like what we get online (since it has all the info on the packet) vs. the ones they make up in store which are bulky, difficult to use (the pots are hard to balance when opened) and don't have all the product detail.   They do have real samples in store, right?

Not all brands send out foil samples so I would just come up with the list of things I wanted to try and take what I can get based off of that last rather than "I just want foils." They will probably give you the scanner print out thing with info on it - ingredients, how to use, etc - if they give you a sample pot.

They can provide a scanner print out?  They've never done that for me before.

Some stores have the Skincare IQ scanner, so you or the SA can scan the product and it will give a printout of the item description and how to use it!

My store has a SkinIQ product scanner thingy sorry I didn't know if yours had it or not. It's essentially the same info you'd see online (size, price, directions, ingredients) that's printed out. The monitor also shows you reviews. It's pretty nifty. I don't think they'd take too kindly if you only asked for skin care foil samples though especially since they might not have what you want in foil form. All the same info that would be on the back of a foil can be found online.

I just tell them I want a sample of X,Y & Z. I feel like I get a larger amount vs foil packets and then I snap a photo of the product info box or back. Also it's product I really want to try and I have no problems asking for multiple product because I spend lot of money with them.

Someone was asking about the Clarisonic. I have the Mia and I love it. I could see trading it in for the Aria if you like it enough since it has more settings. Eventually mine will die and I will be upgrading. I have had it for several years now. The exfoliating quality was great for my skin, I also noticed that the other products I use just worked better. I could feel how they just absorbed into my skin better.

We have some foils at the counter but they aren't always amazing product (IMO) But we could do three samples total. If you have three products you want to try (including perfume ) someone should be happy to do that. All deluxe samples from promotions needed something for us to scan to be given out

In my experience, samples can vary by store or by Sales Associate. One time at my SiJCP, the lady who always helps me there said they were cleaned out of prepackaged samples when I asked, but she would make me samples of anything I wanted....I told her I didn't really know what I wanted, I just like getting random samples of different things to try.

The next time I went in, I was returning a palette and wanted to get the Mia First that was on sale for $99. I told her (same girl) that I kind of wanted to just buy it online so I could get the 5 samples they were offering at the time. She said if I went ahead and bought the Mia, she would look around and gather me up some deluxe samples. So she rounded me up a UD naked skin deluxe sample, mini stila liquid lipstick in beso, deluxe size ole henricksen eye gel, and a few other things I can't remember. She was really great about it.

Like I said, it probably varies widely from store to Sales Associate.

I got that palette and its too pretty to use! It looks like artwork to me!

I love the bottome left 4, very ocean zen.  If I got it I would be over the top with keeping the graphics art look as long as possible, I'd probably use ilke the lower left corner of each square and try to keep as much of the texture as possible.  Hah, it is gorgeou.  The upper right hand corner's pebble textures are great too!

I'm so sorry :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> It's so unfair- I can't imagine what it's like living with that, but as I said, I do understand to a degree. You're so beautiful, keep being strong. It doesn't surprise me that the hyaluronic acid is doing amazing things for your skin, though!! One of the boards I frequent is a skincare board and there's a lot of DIY there. I used to buy a $150 Vitamin C serum that also had Ferulic and Hyaluronic Acid as well as Vitamin E in it, but now I make my own, and although I was NEVER the type to think home-made things could possibly be as good as the expensive stuff, this serum has completely changed my skin. No fine lines, no discoloration, and even marks I had from my early 20s when I broke out, including purple marks and (shallow, it's not magic in a bottle!) ice pick marks are gone, and that happened after just a few months of using it! My point is, hyaluronic acid is amazing, and it is our skin's natural moisturizer.

I do watch my diet, or try to- I can't eat sugar, carbs, and now my doctor is recommending I stay away fiom gluten (ugh). It's not easy because I have a HUGE sweet tooth. It's important that I really watch my figure, too- a few years ago I gained a good bit of weight after being put on prednisone, and my psoriasis went absolutely NUTS. As in, it completely covered my body and it hurt to walk. Yeah, never, ever letting that happen EVER again. It's really bad right now, but at least I can stand to move, you know?

Thank you so much for your response, it's good to know someone else understands how bad it can be. I was first diagnosed as a child, but it pretty much went away after that until I hit 18...even then, it was extremely mild and easy to deal with via topicals. When I turned 23, everything went to heck. Of course sometimes it will go away for months or go easy on me for up to a year, but the last few years it has been nonstop, with the last few months being sort of scary. Thank you for your support. I also know what it's like to feel lethargic and have low energy, so I TOTALLY get how serious a setback that is and how miserable it is (I know a lot of people empathize but just *can't* understand. I'm glad it's helping the psoriasis, though- truly.

Thanks for your thoughtful words, I really appreciate the good energy!  My biggest challenge is that I look completely normal, but I'm like walking a tight rope at all times.  Tipping head or leaning forward is just not an option and I walk slowly or might need to stop for a second or two here and ther and that is just trouble when folks are going 500 miles an hour on the NYC subway platform, HA!!   I've had people say things to me during rush hour that they'd never say to a 80 year old who's moving slowly.  Half the time I'm just laughing at the irony of things.  The ex and the boys are impressed that I don't look half a century, but my neck is like that of a 100 year old, very bizzare.  But you know, I'm walking and talking.

Very cool on mixing your own!  I do a little of that myself.  I got the HA bulk and have been mixing that in with jello too for both my neck and mom's bum knee.  Then one day I filled a cleaned Algenist glass pump up with rose water, the kind that you buy for $3 at gourmet groceries for baking (Melvita chrages $22 for it, I've been using it as tonner) have been applying that to face too a couple of times a week.

The recent reads on LUSH and their masks have me experimenting too combining a quarter of a very ripe banana with oatmeal, honey and wearing it on my face.  Being Asian we'v got all the unusual ingredients around seaweed (6 different kinds), goji berries, matcha (green tea powder), hmmm... getting ideas for next mask already.

I poured over LUSH's mask recipes and then whip up a tiny batch from ingredients I have and stick it in the fridge to be used for the next week.  Family wants to eat my facials LOL!

I backed into Suprmud and made a bentonite clay, charcoal (broke up 2 charcoal pills) and green tea detox mask using rose water as the liquid medium.

Has anyone bought and tried the essential beauty oils set?? I am dying to get it but don't want to regret spending the money. I've already talked myself out of getting the cleansing set with the white glamglow because there are quite a few products that I wouldn't really use. (So sad there is no SiJCP near me for the $29 set!!). But I feel like it would be easy to use most of the oils.... Right??

I bought the skincare sampler from SiJCP on friday and I was wondering.. do we get points for purchases made inside JCP? I dont see any added in my account :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Yes, we get points for any sephora order. It could be that your account is somehow not linked....I started my BI account at a SiJCP, and then did an order on Sephora.com and wasn't accumulating points. So I called their CS and they linked everything together and made sure I had all my points. I'd call them up if you don't see your points soon...

As long as you gave them your BI information at checkout, like giving them your card or email. Check your receipt, your BI# should be at the top of the receipt.

I work at SiJCP, 95% of the time we don't have samples sent to us that are pre-made :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Unless the brand is promoting something, like we are promoting skincare now so we had some but it lasted 1 day. ... or if we have event left over pieces, then we can only make you something. Makes me sad, because I shop there, obviously bc I work there, and I can never get any nice deluxe samples. :/!

That's why I said 'in my experience' and 'may vary by store and SA'...my SiJCP definitely gets deluxe samples, just depends on the day and the SA.
