[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> It's so unfair- I can't imagine what it's like living with that, but as I said, I do understand to a degree. You're so beautiful, keep being strong. It doesn't surprise me that the hyaluronic acid is doing amazing things for your skin, though!! One of the boards I frequent is a skincare board and there's a lot of DIY there. I used to buy a $150 Vitamin C serum that also had Ferulic and Hyaluronic Acid as well as Vitamin E in it, but now I make my own, and although I was NEVER the type to think home-made things could
possibly be as good as the expensive stuff, this serum has completely changed my skin. No fine lines, no discoloration, and even marks I had from my early 20s when I broke out, including purple marks and (shallow, it's not magic in a bottle!) ice pick marks are gone, and that happened after just a few months of using it! My point is, hyaluronic acid is amazing, and it is our skin's natural moisturizer.
I do watch my diet, or try to- I can't eat sugar, carbs, and now my doctor is recommending I stay away fiom gluten (ugh). It's not easy because I have a HUGE sweet tooth. It's important that I really watch my figure, too- a few years ago I gained a good bit of weight after being put on prednisone, and my psoriasis went absolutely NUTS. As in, it completely covered my body and it hurt to walk. Yeah, never, ever letting that happen EVER again. It's really bad right now, but at least I can stand to move, you know?
Thank you so much for your response, it's good to know someone else understands how bad it can be. I was first diagnosed as a child, but it pretty much went away after that until I hit 18...even then, it was extremely mild and easy to deal with via topicals. When I turned 23, everything went to heck. Of course sometimes it will go away for months or go easy on me for up to a year, but the last few years it has been nonstop, with the last few months being sort of scary. Thank you for your support. I also know what it's like to feel lethargic and have low energy, so I TOTALLY get how serious a setback that is and how miserable it is (I know a lot of people empathize but just *can't*
understand. I'm glad it's helping the psoriasis, though- truly.
Thanks for your thoughtful words, I really appreciate the good energy! My biggest challenge is that I look completely normal, but I'm like walking a tight rope at all times. Tipping head or leaning forward is just not an option and I walk slowly or might need to stop for a second or two here and ther and that is just trouble when folks are going 500 miles an hour on the NYC subway platform, HA!! I've had people say things to me during rush hour that they'd never say to a 80 year old who's moving slowly. Half the time I'm just laughing at the irony of things. The ex and the boys are impressed that I don't look half a century, but my neck is like that of a 100 year old, very bizzare. But you know, I'm walking and talking.
Very cool on mixing your own! I do a little of that myself. I got the HA bulk and have been mixing that in with jello too for both my neck and mom's bum knee. Then one day I filled a cleaned Algenist glass pump up with rose water, the kind that you buy for $3 at gourmet groceries for baking (Melvita chrages $22 for it, I've been using it as tonner) have been applying that to face too a couple of times a week.
The recent reads on LUSH and their masks have me experimenting too combining a quarter of a very ripe banana with oatmeal, honey and wearing it on my face. Being Asian we'v got all the unusual ingredients around seaweed (6 different kinds), goji berries, matcha (green tea powder), hmmm... getting ideas for next mask already.
I poured over LUSH's mask recipes and then whip up a tiny batch from ingredients I have and stick it in the fridge to be used for the next week. Family wants to eat my facials LOL!
I backed into Suprmud and made a bentonite clay, charcoal (broke up 2 charcoal pills) and green tea detox mask using rose water as the liquid medium.
