Sorry if this veers too off topic, but I need the help of all you lovely MUT ladies! I was so disgruntled with Sephora on Black Friday (partially because of the stories from this thread, especially learning that they are censoring posts!) so I wandered into the comestic section of Nordstrom (usually I stick to shoes). I had no idea that you could just make a bunch of your own samples! Much nicer than sephora in my opinion. But I fell into a trap! They were giving out free samples of Jo Malone spray vials and now I desperately want the pear and freesia candle. I have never tried a sample of something and wanted it more! Why does it have to be $65?!!! Do any of you girls have Jo Malone? Worth it? Please stop me from trying to buy a $65 candle. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Only if you can talk me out of buying a $40 eyeliner.

I don't personally own any Jo Malone products (I don't really use candles and scented sprays usually bother me), but I've heard great things about their quality.

Ooo. What eyeliner? Maybe buy it with your $15/$20 coupon? Then you won't actually be spending $40 on it. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Or try Birchbox? I really wanted the Algenist lotion and instead of Sephora I used a 20% off code at Birchbox (which puts out 20% or 15% off codes seemingly once a month!)

GIRL LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT JO MALONE.

well first, i LOVE LOVE LOVE the Nordstrom beauty section. i think i "tried out" a months worth of Kiehls BB cream and face washes by filling up the little cups when no one was looking.. oopsies. i also looooove getting my make up done by a counter -- but only if I'm actually going to buy something, otherwise, I feel bad and like I'm wasting their time (because I am)

OK ON TO JO MALONE. My boyfriend's mom is obsessed with Jo Malone. But its just too too expensive ($60 1oz, $120 3.4 oz) and her two favorite colognes are Wild Bluebell and Nectarine-Honey. For the past...3ish years? She just grabs a sample whenever she goes into Nordstrom. The main issue is that she loves those two mixed together and $240 just seems ridiculous.  My boyfriend, his sister, and I are going to split the cost on her two favorites for her Christmas gift.

Over the summer I did stock up on Jo Malone samples and they are so luxe. There's nothing like it. The scents last all day and aren't crazy overpowering and definitely pleasant. I don't wear perfume often but the samples lasted me for a long time.

Onto the candles -- I was gifted one of the travel size candles. I think the gifter got it as a freebie. Its nice, it smells great, but I honestly will never be able to justify nor say *zomg you need it* for a really expensive candle. I did decide that when I have a real person job after grad school and  and have spare money (haha. quite the conditions, right?) I will treat myself to the giant $445 candle when I close on a home in the very, very, very distant future. But the worst part with those is that you are literally burning a lot of money.

The Jo Malone website is running a good GWP which ends on 12/1 - spend $150 (not hard to do..) and you get 2 mini perfumes. What else do you want to know?

I want Guerlain's LE Liquid Eyeliner. I didn't get a $15 coupon...I never get any Sephora mailers. /sobs/

I wish I had a Nordstrom. I want to try all of the samples! But poor little un-fashionable Oklahoma gets nothing. We only have 1 Saks (in Tulsa), 1 Nordstrom Rack (OKC) and 1 OFF FIFTH (OKC).

Hello ladies, I created an account just to post and thank you all for the info regarding Sephora's treatment of high-level customers. I am a cosmetology student and I run with a theater major crowd, so needless to say we are serious consumers of make-up and skincare products. Seeing the BS you've been through has convinced me to stick with Ulta, and you can be sure that word will get around. Thanks and good luck.

I didn't get mine yet either but I plan to call and ask for it! Also thanks for the Jo Malone advice!

I have a Nordy's near me at Roosevelt Field Mall, but as far as I've walked by - many a times to get into the mall for Sephora's this NY Nordy has not given out samples of the JM.  I walked by the cosmetic counters too and there are no containers for making samples...  Just smiling eyes waiting to pitch you on something that you are showing a vague intrest in.

I think NYC area is at the end of the bell cruve as well for hitting the sweet spot on sampling, there's just too many people and they don't leave things out for self-sampling, they'd probably go through a jar an hour... and any laid-out little samples simply disappear within the quarter-hour.

I've lived in Michigan and visited Texas, retail in both states have been real generous with product introduction.  I was in Texas for work and walked into the mall for a little time out and was smack in the middle of some beauty event.  I left 3 hours later with bags of free stuff - that I didn't even have to ask for.  I was the only Asian there and I think they really wanted to make me feel welcome :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />...  THEY were adorable!

Does Sephora ever do anything/give a **** if you don't receive the samples you selected with your order?  My last order I selected a 3-shade Stila lipstick card sample, a peel sample and one other skincare sample. I got the skincare one and 1 other rando I didn't pick, but the Stila was missing entirely, which I was super bummed about because I wanted to try their lipstick.

They might do something about the missing sample, but they officially state that they may substitute samples, so I don't think they'll do anything about a swapped sample.

I love Jo Malone! I have never bought a Jo Malone candle, but I do use Jo Malone fragrances. My personal fave is the Nectarine Blossom and Honey. I wear it all the time and my friends say they can smell me coming and that I always smell so good. I definitely recommend the brand (but maybe not a $65 candle... It would have to be a LONG lasting candle at that price).

Words cannot begin to describe how I feel...

This is the message that popped up as i tried to reply to a question on beauty talk on sephora...

We're sorry, but you have been banned from using this site.
  • You have been banned for the following reason:

client is banned by fraud from shopping on sephora.com DR
I have only ever posted two answers in total on beauty talk.

I don't care about points and promos etc.......... I just don't like being accused just because I spent a lot of money at Sephora

Bye Sephora!!...You will not be missed.

I should never have spent my hard earn't money at your site ....
