Ok so I have oily hair. I'll take a shower in the morning and by the next morning it looks like I poured grease all over my hair, but I have a dry scalp? I can get dandruff here or there but my scalp always seems dry... To me this doesn't make sense! Can any of you suggest a shampoo or conditioner that'll help? Or any homemade remedies? T.I.A.:)

I also have very oily hair, it has just become a daily routine for me to wash it every morning (I know I shouldn't wash it EVERY day but it seems like the easiest thing to do). Its sooo fustrating eh... Thats strange that you have dry/oily hair at the same time though, maybe you should ask a local hairdressers. I even googled dry/oily hair and couldn't find anything :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Sorry I couldn't be of more help, hopefully someone see's this that knows more about this on the forums :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> goodluck!

Yes, i've had this problem in winter, but with combination hair ! How could the sebum go to my roots and not my scalp remains a mystery, LOL !

To udnerstand this, you have to realise the dandruffs you see are probably the result of an irritated scalp. I did two things to get rid of this issue :

-first i went back to my old shampoo Node by Bioderma. I mention it but i don't know its availability in the U.S. Whatever the shampoo, take it gentle, and neutral. This will normalize your scalp, and if it's less irritated, it will also produce less sebum.

-the second step was to apply about twice a week two things : pure provitamin B5 (aka panthenol). This favors the hydration of your hair and skin. I applied this first on my scalp. Then i followed with oil, monoï to be precise. It's important to apply the panthenol first as it's not soluble in oil. I bought it at my supplier for homemade cosmetics, as well as the oil. I think you could still benefit from this if you concentrated the oil on your scalp. Then follow by a neutral shampoo.

Another shampoo i suggest is Head&Shoulders, it's quite good and easily found, for a reasonable price. You can also get Neutrogena T Gel, but the scent is not as fancy, and i've had personally less success with it in the past. Rene Furterer also a shampoo for irritated scalp, but my main inconvenient with this one is it only treats what it's made for, you need a second shampoo to wash just your lengths.

Lemon juice is the best for dandruff and Coconut oil for dry scalp. you can apply it together. Apply them twice in a week. You will feel better. Try it

Lemon is good for hair yes, i didn't try it on dandruff but it's to be tried, i suppose.

Hi, JenHeartsMakeup Try this remedies for oily greasy hair and dry scalp, these really works.

Hot oil treatment for Oily Hair is highly beneficial in healing this problem. This therapy should be used about once a week by gently massaging the oil into the scalp and then washing it off thoroughly to improve the texture and appearance.

Wash your hair daily with a mild shampoo or a shampoo designed for dry scalps or oily hair, such as Head 'N Shoulders 2 in 1 Dry Scalp Shampoo and Conditioner.

Lather the shampoo onto the hair rather than scrubbing it into the scalp, to avoid drying out the skin further.

Rinse your hair well to eliminate any shampoo residue, which can exacerbate oiliness.

Use conditioner only on the ends of the hair, or refrain from using it at all if the hair is particularly oily.

Mix apple-cider-vinegar rinse using 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water, again washing the hair and not the scalp. Rinse thoroughly after applying the mixture.

Clarifying cider vinegar rinse serves as a good home remedy for Oily Hair as it helps to remove product buildup from hair finally leaving the hair soft and shiny. Try an astringent. A natural astringent such as witch hazel may help slow down the oil production of the sebaceous glands in your scalp. For a minty fresh feeling, mix witch hazel with mouthwash and apply it to your scalp with a cotton ball. If your hair is very oily, you can apply this homemade astringent each time you shampoo.

Gently massaging the hair and scalp with watermelon seed oil and then rinsing is one the simplest Oily Hair home remedies because it helps in balancing oil production.

Boil two tablespoons of mint leaves and one tablespoon of rosemary in half a cup of water and for about 20 minutes. Mix about two tablespoons of this infusion in a quarter cup of the shampoo you use. It is considered as a good natural hair toner for dealing with Oily Hair.

For dry scalp and greasy hair, shampoo with tea tree oil is the best. Washing the hair with a mixture of one teaspoon of aloe Vera gel and one tablespoon of lemon juice in a mild shampoo is another valuable natural remedy for Oily Hair home treatment.

Drink about eight glasses of water daily.

I have the exact same problem with my hair. I haven't been able to find a consistant routine yet that counter acts this problem, so I am also willing to try out new treatments as well.
