I've posted a thread before about attempting to dye my bleach blonde hair back to brown. Someone stated that in order to dye bleach blonde hair back to brown, it is essential to first dye your hair red, in order to add previously nonexistent undertones. After THAT, your hair can be dyed brown. (Right now I have very faded brown hair, from trying to simply dye my hair brown, pictured HERE)
But, there is a problem with that. My roots and a couple inches from my roots hold color very well, but the rest of my hair doesn't. I'm afraid if I dye my whole head red, I'll have super bright roots, with very faded ends. So I'm wondering..
Should I only dye the part of my hair that doesn't hold color, to add color. And leave my roots alone because they hold color? THEN dye over it with brown?
I'm sorry if this is confusing, I'm not sure how to explain the process I am thinking of any better. I can try to make up some examples for better reference if needed.
