I've been coloring my hair for over 30 years.  Started out getting it professionally colored, then took over doing it myself 5 years ago. I'm completely gray, so I color every 2 weeks due to pesky roots.  I order my color online, and I use Matrix DNA color creams.  I color only the roots.  I wash and blow dry every week day - Bad bed head:(  Over the last 2 years my hair has been falling out - seemed to happen just has I changed my hormone replacement, that I have been on for 20 years.  I also use Coppola Keratin products to wash and condition - doing a deep condition treatment every week.

I suspect I'm losing my hair due to over coloring and blow drying - but could it be hormonal?

Help

how can i protect ma hair when it  falling..................................................So give me some tips how can i protect it..............

Diana, I'm thinking hormonal since I have the same problem. For the past several years my hair has been falling out too and it's about the time that I started getting hot flashes, so yeah, hormonal fluctuations. Lucky for me I think it's growing back in as fast as it's falling out, even though the drain of my tub is full of hair after every shower, I do not have any bald spots, or even look like I have any less hair at all. I think you should give your doctor a call about your hormone therapy and let them know that this is happening, maybe they can adjust dosage or try something else?

I can't tell if your problem is hormonal but I can tell that my hair improved after I started taking vitamins and minerals.

It can be hormonal, it can be due to the hair coloring, or both. But the only way you're going to know for sure is to ask your doctor for a simple blood test, if it's hormonal then taking care of this should improve your hair's condition. You can also look for food supplements for hair, like evening primerose oil.
