You can either use a large barrel curling iron, and make random curls, seperating them with your fingers... or you can twist small sections of hair as you dry it, using a styling spray and then tousle them into place

Thanks Janelle, because Lord knows I've wanted to know! I've tried, but I honestly think my hair is too thick, and I refuse to use hairspray if I can help it! LOL!

i love that look........but i can never manage to get the curl to stay more then an hour!!!!!

Yeah, that's how mine looks when I air dry too! I like having naturally wavy hair!

I just discovered a week ago how to create that look:

1 wash your hair

2 don't blow dry

3 work in a good amount of flake free mouse

4 spray in Bumble and Bumble's Surf Spray (optional)

5 take pieces and tightly twist them into small buns all over your head and secure them with a bobby pin (make sure they are small pieces, 5-6 "bun" minimum). Yes, you make look a bit ridiculous for the time being... :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

6 let airdry or blowdry

7 spritz in some light hairspray every once in a while during drying time

8 when it's all dry, carefully pull out the pins and unravel the "buns"

9 tousle and "scrunch" your hair and run some mousse (and BB surf spray) through

10 finish it with hairspray

For best results, do steps 1-8 the night before, then take it out in the morning. Works for me!

The attached photo is a result of a "rushed" job. Think of how much more it stands out when it's done with more time or overnight! The 2nd is a photo of my hair when it is au nautural (straight).

looks great..........thanx for the tips..........I'll have to give it a try!!

My hair is naturally wavy for the most part. does the b&b surf spray make a big diff? my problem is having a defined wave, that doesnt look messy/frizzy/crunchy and lasts.

I just wondered if you had fine or thick hair? My hair is pretty fine but I have a lot of it. I would love to do something like this when it grows out some more or even now.. I also wanted to know if you had any other recommendations that could be used besides the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray?

I remember during my high school days ( over 30 years ago ) when I had long hair, I would wash my hair everynight, then braid it ( while still damp) in 6-7 sections and leave it like that overnight. In the morning, I release the braids and run my fingers through my hair to style in place. If I knew of styling products then , I would have applied mouse to my damp hair before braiding to make the waves last longer throughout the day.

You are very pretty and pretty hair too.
Wash your hair and do a one single braid leave it over night or comb your hair when its dry. Then you can put a styling porduct in it if you want. A silcione serum would flaten your hair. If you want to add the volume, blowdry it for couple of minutes when your hair is dry.

as we speak my hair is in braids. we will see how this turns out. i dont have mousse though. damn it. so i just used some light hold hair spray. hopefully that will work. im letting it air dry for a lil bit. then i gotta dry with the dryer bc i gotta get ready for work at like 230-3. ill take pics and post probably tonite. plus youll see my new hair color.
