I've been thinking that until my hair grows out I want to try wearing synthetic dread falls, but being low on money and not wanting to commit to only one type or style I've been looking into how to make them myself... Before I do though I'm wondering if anyone else has tried to make their own dread falls and if so how they felt they turned out. I was planning to make them out of wool. Any advice on making them would be appreciated :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Ive never made any, nor do I know anyone who has, but I would love to see some pictures of yours when you do!!

Well I made them last night. Was interesting to make them. When I put my face on I will take some pics and post em here. They were really easy to make and I totally love them. They turned out just like I hoped they would.

omg LOVE yours. I just made mine as tie in extensions. I don't yet have the guts to attach them to my hair lol. but this is how mine turned out.

Love em! Did you use wool??? When I got the wool for mine I was really unimpressed with color selection so I'm wondering if I should look elsewhere or buy white wool and dye it. Cuz I'm totally making more of these!!!

Oh I like how they turned out, what did you use Amaranthia? I want to try but Im always weary of spending money an not liking them.

@spitting those are adorable you look so cute with them

I used wool roving for mine as well. I'm going to check ebay for more selection. thanks! Basically its wool for felting.

I sprayed them with soapy water and rolled them until they were tight and wouldn't pull apart easily. Then I put them in very hot water to lock them, let dry and attached to elastic strips. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Easy peasy and cheap. I spent about $20 as opposed to buying them for upwards of $75

roving are good and comfier to wear, but synthetic are easy to make too, lots of tutorials online and you dont need to steam em if you dont have a steamer, boiling water will do it too. plus they actually can look quite realistic! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

this forum is closed down now and just an archive but there are some brilliant examples and tutorials on there! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I've personally only tried once this summer and it worked out well but my braiding into my own head was difficult and I made them super long which also made them really heavy! Yes I made them myself. I just watched a dozen tutorials and then I picked the best method for me which was steam with water and the flat iron, of course that isn't the only method. I will have to reseal them again if I want to wear them again. I might attempt to make the red and black ones that I was planning on doing at some point.

On youtube and online you can look up: http://www.doctoredlocks.com/catalog/home.php she's amazing and they have lots of info and variations.

Here are a few pics of me this past summer.

Any thoughts on if I should make the red and black ones or if I should re-braid some of these black/green/purple one back into what little hair I have now LMAO?!?! Maybe I should wear them to IMATS!!! What do you guys think?

YES!!!!!! now that I've made mine I'm thinking one can never have enough dreads. I'm all ready planning what to do next. >.< I've found a new addiction!!!!!!

Oh WOW ladies!! They look soooo good!!!
