It could be exzema, or it could also be cradle cap. My dad would get cradle cap (he went to the doctors, and the doctor told him it was cradle cap). His head was incredibly itchy all the time, and his scalp came off in whitish-yellowish hard chunks like you were talking about.

Deff. go to the doctors, and he will either give you some prescription stuff, or send you to a derm.

I had this same issue in the same areas you described. I have eczema though so I know it was that. T-Gel made it worse and Nizoral was no help at all. I use Head and Shoulders for Dry Scalp and that seems to do the trick. I also LOVE this Grandpa's Pine Tar Oil shampoo I got from a health store - it totally eliminated the dryness so now I wash my hair with it once a week.

I was talking to my boyfriend's mom about my dandruff and she said that it could be yeast because she had it and that she had used monistat on her scalp and she hasn't had it since. She's a supervisor in a blood lab in a hospital so she looks at different things like that. I haven't tried using yeast infection on my scalp yet so I don't know if it will work or not.

I used have occasional bouts of psoriasis as well. What my mother taught me to do to prevent it has kept me itch/patchy skin-free for a very long while now.

For the itch, witch hazel does wonders!!! I also mix a bit of Neutrogena T-Gel in some clarifying shampoo and that really gets the scalp clear. I only use this once a week though, alternating between a fragrance/dye-free shampoo.

I have had the same problem as well. I am so glad I am not the only one! Thank you ladies for all of the suggestions

Good morning everyone,

I have the same problem. I was going crazy the last couple days trying to figure out why my hair feels like it does. Then I read this post, which reminded me. I went to the Dr a while back and was told to use T-Sal. She said not to use T-Gel, something about the tar in it..can't remember the reason why. My scalp is dry and flakey, and it also affects the texture of my hair. Feels like straw.

Found some T-Sal I have left so I'm gonna try that. Plus I'm going to try that Paul Mitchell Tea Tree stuff

Thanks everyone

Where do you buy the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo? Any place cheaper then another?

Thanks

Kris

Any recommendations on a all natural shampoo that would have tea tree oil in. Or could I simply buy a shampoo and tea tree oil separately and add the tea tree oil?

I would really like to use more natural products.

Thanks much

Ahh. Looking back at this thread, it is interesting to see how I've changed my hair care routine. Neutrogena T-Gel and clarifying shampoo really stripped my hair very dry. By switching to Tea Tree Oil wash and Monistat Cream, my itchiness has been banished forever and the moisture balance has... or at least until it starts up again. It's been months since I've had an outbreak though.
