So I decided to just go to the salon to have my golden blonde highlights covered for an all-over, rich, chocolate-y brown shade. Except the stylist goofed, majorly. My hair is so, so, so, dark. It's the darkest brown you could get without being black. In some lighting, it does look like a bad wig/rockstar black. I was wondering if you knew of anything I could do to help lighten it? Should I risk putting in a very few amount of highlights at home? Or go to the salon? Or would it be a waste to go the salon; can you even do anything to hair this dark?

Thanks again :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

If the stylist did this, go back and let them know that it is too dark.

Tell them exactly what colour you want - they should correct it for you.

There are products you can buy that say they will remove colour from hair:

Color Fix by Jheri Redding

L’Oreal’s Color Zap

Loreal Effasol Color Remover

Metalex

I have done my own removal using vitamin C:

Mix one part vitamin C powder to two parts shampoo.

Vitamin C powder can be found at health food stores. Purchase at least $3 so you'll have enough if you want to repeat.

Put measured shampoo in a bowl (1/2 cup). Add 1/4 cup vitamin c powder while mixing with a fork to form a frothy paste. Work completely into your hair and leave in for 2 hours. Cover hair with plastic. Rinse out, then shampoo and condition. Repeat the process if required.

I loved the results from the vit c - it removed tons of build up and left my hair soft and shiny.

I would strip the color wait a couple of weeks and in that time find a hair stylist who specializes in color techniques.
