As some of you know, I'm a hair stylist by trade. I frequently update my looks and try out different things with my hair. I recently went from a black cherry red with bright red peek a boo's to a dark plum with magenta peek a boo's. I thought it was a pretty drastic change...all my girlfriends noticed and really dig the new look. On the flip side the guy ive been dating for 4 months, STILL hasnt noticed and its been a week and a half!!!

This brings me to my next question....does your SO notice when you change your hair style? Mine sure didnt!

Mine never does. I really don't expect him to either... he's a man so I blame it on that LOL ugh! Some times I wish he would though. One time he noticed that I started wearing more lipstick... it was really nice, made me feel all giddy inside

But overall.... Nah, never does ha ha ha

Most men I have been with seem oblivious to colorings. Even if they do notice they just don't care enough to say anything because they are not displeased. Most notice haircut (not trims) changes. Luckily my SO now does notice but I think it's cuz I've sorta trained them to look hahaha.

My current beau notices the hair and make up changes I make.

Otherwise, I find that most men didn't notice. But they did really nervous when I told tell them that I tried/did something new...

It all depends on how drastic the change from my experience. I have only ever had one ex that was very in tune with that sort of thing. In general, most men really don't notice too much, or if they do, it's much later on down the track.

im a guy, and its true, we dont notice. my EX moaned at me for not noticing. i suppose if its a drastic colour like blonde to shock blue then i would but she often went from light blonde to dark haired and i never noticed until she told me. Feel bad but maybe its a man thing?

LOL I think im not in this boat alone then....they just generally dont notice. When I first did it he did tell me my hair looked nice that night (uhh hi my hair always looks nice, but i'll take the compliment lol) and I asked what exactly looked nice about it and he got frustrated and was just like 'It just looks nice!' I suppose its also bc I always change my hair so he cant really keep track lol

Interesting thread! I have to say the average guy probably doesn't pay attention to hair or makeup because its not his thing. Let's face it unless a guy has long hair and is adventurous with it there is not much that he can do with his. It is what it is and depends on how it was cut.

As for his GF/Wife/etc he wants her to look nice, but if she doesn't generally want to make a big deal especially if she is one of these types that doesn't want to put any effort into it (and if you look around there are LOTS of women like this... present company excluded of course).

For a change you could always ask HIM prior to making a big change what he would think, but then I again I know you will do whatever you want anyway......

I certainly will do what I want regardless of what he thinks/says....lol good call Darla! I have super long hair...I think if i showed up with a bob, he would notice that lol

You know that thought went through my head too!
HairEgo: awww cmon on if you're going to do that bob you at least need to warn him.

Exactly. I never do anything new without sharing it with my SO first. Their opinion does matter to me and they always notice even the little things because of it.

I do make my own choices as far as beauty goes, however when I am deciding on new things I will ask my SO their opinion. I don't ask because it's "law" or I feel like I have to, I ask because I like involving them in what is important to me. Usually they will feel neutral about my hair/makeup changes but if they did feel VERY against something I would probably think twice about it. Having said that, my SO is very supportive and even if it's not their favorite style or colors, they always encourage me to do what makes me happy. I think they just appreciate being included in possible dramatic changes.

If suppose if I had someone who told me to not do every little thing I would say I'd do whatever I wanted with little regard. I suppose it really depends on the relationship of the couple.

I think they notice when you look great, they just don't realize that you didn't always look that way!
