Hi there,

I need major help. I've been dealing with this for years. i ALWAYS wear my hair up. I can't stand it down but i curl my bangs. my hair is natural curly so when it rains, hot or humid the curl up or goes flat. if i star to sweat for get it they go curly.

this is how i like them to stay

this is what happens most times it gets worse. i didn't have a pic. lol

thanks so much for everything! I dont want don king hair when i go on vacation

Do you want advice as to how to cut your own bangs?

What styling product(s) do you use?

I do cut my own bc they charge you 9 bucks for them to do it but of course when i get my hair cut i have them do it. I've been using hair gel, fructis gel and survivor tough it out glue, got 2 b products. i will take any kind of advice.

I'd go for a longer bang and maybe wearing your hair down vs wearing it up.  I think it makes you look like a little girl and kinda accentuates your cheeks ( altho cute), kinda adds to that little girl look.

BTW.  I edited your post to embed your pics.  It keeps downloading into my HD and I don't want a bunch of files with your pics.  You can use at button on the tool bar beside the film reel... it looks like a picture to upload your photos into the thread instead of planting a link.

I totally agree with the cost of cutting bangs that grow so fast. I cut my own as well.

Your hair is similar to mine so this is what I'd recommend:

Try to grow your hair out another 1/2 inch or so - when they get curly they can become quite short

Cut your hair into a blunt band and it help to add layers to your bangs - they will hold the curl but not be so heavy.

Just in case you aren't familiar with layering bangs

I found this video on Utube - about half way through she talks about how to do layers

To be honest, I don't use any styling products except for a styling cream, right after I wash and condition

Then a silicon serum once I have completely dried and styled my hair. got2b glossy - clear silicon serum

I find gels too sticky for my liking.

Have you tried mixing one part styling cream with one part gel?

The styling cream I just started using is garnier fructis style sleek and shine anti-humidity smoothing milk

Hope this help

Perhaps other muters might also have some ideas

Thanks ladies. I'm new to the site. Wasn't sure how to put the pics up.

. I can't stand my hair down. I hate it on my neck. I rather keep it up. I even sleep with it up. I will look into the garnier fructis style sleek and shine anti-humidity smoothing milk. I tired their gel and it was way sticky and the glue gel is ok.

When i had bangs, i was younger, the only advice i got to get mine less flat (they're not curly, my hair is barely wavy because it's naturally tousled), is either to slightly backcomb it, or to wash it daily, without washing the rest of my hair, to fight against the oil build up. I can suggest the Got 2 b setting spray, stronger than extra strong hold !

I love having bangs like this but so know how you feel. I found it very hard to keep in place so I grew them out. You should be able to set it with a firm hold mousse & extra firm hold hairspray,

PS: I don't think it makes you look like a little girl, bangs are quite elegant (just hard to keep in place!)

I look so goofy with no bangs or side bangs. I think my face is too round. I dunno maybe one of these day i'll find a new hair style. Right now i have to have it up. I work in a hot school cleaning and at night cleaning. lol. I can't have it down. Thanks so much!

ok ladies. i've been using g2b gel and garnier fructis style sleek and shine anti-humidity smoothing milk. works great but of course when i sweat i get don kingish but its wayyy better then before. tyvm

I know, the heat and humidity is a killer here too.

I'd say that my bangs look great from mid Sept to beginning of June - then look like crap for the summer.

At this time, what works is serum and bobby pins, or a baseball cap.

Glad you like the anti humidity milk - makes my hair feel fabulous.

lol yea i would love to wear a hat but working in an office it wont fly or even at the school. Today my bangs were not that great but it was my fault. I rushed this morning. i need to find a better hair spray

I wear bangs, I've always worn bangs except for a year or so where I was letting the bangs grow out but when I pulled my hair back my face would be too masculine for my tastes so I cut my bangs again. The trick to cutting bangs is not to cut the bangs wet since hair stretches out and if you cut the (wet) length you like when it dries up it'll spring up shorter than you wanted. lol My youngest daughter found that out the hard way because she wanted shorter bangs and without telling me cut the bangs after a shower. When your is dry, but clean, place your fingers where you want the length to end. Use an alligator or duck bill clip "mark" your hair then with a spray bottle spritz your hair with water then cut BELOW the clip. When you're done remove the clip, dry the bangs and you should have the length you want. If it's still too long then spritz the hair again and take off another centimeter but no more than that check and continue but work in 1 cm increments otherwise you may end up taking too much off.

As to styling, you will need a fine tooth comb like a rat-tail. Lift the bangs up, spritz with freezing spray and quickly tease the underside enough to make the bangs "poof" out. Don't over-tease especially if you used a freezing spray. With the same comb on top of the bang smooth it out and position the bangs where you want and finish with a normal hair spray. Just keep in mind that hairstyles won't last all day if the weather is too humid or windy and nothing you do will prevent it from "falling" in those conditions.
