Hi

For the past couple years whenever I shampoo/condition my hair then blow dry/air dry it I ALWAYS get a waxy product feeling at the crown, and sometimes the roots. I stopped using everything except shampoo and conditioner. I traded in my thick moisturizing Dove products, for the lighter herbal Essences products, and have tried many others, but I always get a waxy product feeling. I even tried deep conditioners at the salon.  I changed brushes and still no difference. Any advice?

It could be sebum build up or silicone build up or a mixture of both. How do you wash your hair, is the section where you have a waxy feel a bit you might not be washing as well as the hairline? Have you tried a clarifying/ chelating shampoo or light silicone free conditioner-wash, concentrating on rubbing the waxy section then leaving to soak for a few minutes?

I like to rince periodically with pure apple cider vinegar.

It's suppose to helps remove/dissolve build up.

Mix 1/4 cup vinegar and 3/4 cup water.

Pour vinegar over areas where build up occurs, rubbing into scalp

Experiment with vinegar rince between shampoo and conditioner or after conditioner.

The smell evaporates right away.

You could try white vinegar and see if this helps.

Consider mixing baking soda with water - rub into scalp.

Then shampoo or condition.

Rince really well to get out all the baking soda or scalp can become itchy.
