But I do the Olive Oil treatment like once a month. I do it exactly as Janelle described. I put a little oil in a plastic container and put in the microwave for like 20 seconds, just warm enough for my hair to take it. I leave it longer though...like 30minutes and then I wash it off. Love the way it makes my hair feel.

I have heard that castor oil makes the hair shiny, but I have never tried that.

Thanks Lavender, I will sure try this from tonight.
Yea same here..I have heard so much about castor oil..but really scare to use it before i actually see the difference.

I haven't used any other oil besides olive oil. I put it from about ear-length and down. It depends on your microwave how long to heat it... you want it hot - but not boiling or anything - you don't wanna burn yourself!! lol I put on a clear plastic shower cap or saran wrap, and leave it in until it starts to cool on its own, and then heat it with the dryer for about another 10 min. or so. I just wash and condition with the stuff I use normally... it's not difficult to remove & there is no bad smell... really not much of smell at all actually.

I wouldn't say that the oil itself will make your hair grow... but when your hair is healthy and not breaking, it will grow longer and stronger

Just a little tip since we're talking heat and such....Sally Beauty Supply has heat caps for under $20 (at least last time I looked) and they are SUCH a help for this sort of thing. I also picked up a package of disposable plastic caps so when I deep condition, I put the disposable cap on, then my heat cap and park in front of the computer while my hair is heating.

Hey everybody!

I heard that an oil that works in one persons hair might not work for another. Olive oil seems to dry out my hair, but its pretty good for all-purpose moisturizer.

I collected a few essential oil for you so that you may look for them and try them, with another carrier oil.

Here they are:

Fenugreek

Sage

Rosemary

Thyme

Ivy Burdock

Horsetail

Juniper

Lavender

Arnica

Birch

Yarrow

Grapefruit

Patchouli

Recipe 1:

To promote hair growth, add 15 drops of rosemary oil into a cup full of olive oil. Massage into scalp every night before retiring.

Recipe 2:

4 PARTS-Safflower, Olive, Corn, OR Almond oil

with

1 PART-Bermagot, Thyme, Cloves, Lavender, or Eucalyptus (last one is for oily hair).

The greatest tips I could give you is a golden secret that actually worked for me since I started recovering my hair 2 years ago.

Right now, set an appointment to remove all of the damaged hair off your head, even if it means leaving 2 inches of hair on your head. Then beginning from there, start trimming your hair every 2-3 months. Your hair will grow out like crazy, and mark my words for that one, just remember, no cheating!

Have a good day,Ciao

Thanks for the tips MissLovely!

I tried the olive oil treatment yesterday and my hair looks and feels great. I made a huge mess in the bathroom, but it was totally worth it. I keep stroking my hair.

I don't know if the herbal castor oil is helping my hairgrowth, but it makes my hair soft and shiny. I've only been using it intermittently once a week or so for a couple of months, so I can't really tell yet.

I use sometimes olive oil the way Janelle says and every month or so I'll do a mask with olive oil, mayonnaise and 1 egg, wrap the hair and sleep with that, hair is beautifully after that but the smell takes 2 days to go. I was told recently but not tried yet to mix conditioner with 1 tbsp of amla oil and leave it as a mask.
