I'm in the same position as you. I have damaged my hair very badly. I'm gonna get it cut off, but it's already pretty short. I am gonna get it cut to where I can spike it out in the back again. Last time it was growing pretty good, but then I had to over Dye it. Now i've got to do it again. My hair stylist did suggest that I buy some hair Cholestrol. You can find it in Wal-mart or even dollar stores. It comes in a Tub and is normally orange. She said to wash my hair then put lots of it on, cover it with a shower cap and leave it on for a little bit...go ahead and clean house or whatever you need to do, then wash it out. She said to do this one to two times a week for a few weeks. If you plan to dye your hair afterwards, she said to wait a week after you deep condition because the hair dye will not take. This is what she said she does, because she dyes her hair a lot. For a little extra something I always blow dry it for a little bit just to help it penetrate the hair. I hold the dryer up to the shower cap and blow dry it through that. This has worked for me! ~Regina

I agree with what most are saying.. deep condition.. and there are a lot of cute hair styles that you can get!! Just look around before you shave it all off!!

Make sure your hair has moisture and deep condition at least once a week, if at all possible stay away from blow dryers and any other heat that you may have used. My hair was really damaged also and this is what I done to get it back healthy and it did work for me.

I recently chopped all my hair off (about 3 inches all around) because my hair was so damaged. It looks and feels great now and I'm getting used to the short do. Good luck!

My hair isn't dry damaged...it's squishy and springy...like it actually stretches! It reminds me of string cheese or corn silk... I think it happened when i bleached/permed my hair, but that was FOREVER ago! I can't comb/pick/brush my hair when its wet or even damp... will these deep condition things work for me like they would dry damaged hair?

A reconstructor treatment may be good for your hair. One that I really like is Nexxus Emergencee.

I too am growing out short damaged hair. The things that are really helping me right now are cutting out all chemicals and heat. I have been deep conditioning with a heat cap 4-5 times a week. I use deep conditioners and cholesterol treatments. I have only been doing this for about 3 weeks and I've already seen improvements.
