I've been straightening my hair for years and i've just recently started wearing my hair curly. I found something that works for me but i'm wondering if theres something better out there. I comb my hair in the shower when I have conditioner in it. Once Im out of the shower I put some VO5 curling mousse in my hair and dry it with a defuser. I'll curl a few pieces of hair at the top with a spiral rod ceramic curling iron for more volume (my hair is very fine) and spray with pantien volumizing hair spray.

So I'm just wondering what shampoo and conditioners you like? What kind of mousses and other products will bring my curls to life? Also if there are any kind of treatments I should do to my hair cause I've been washing it a lot more and heat styling so its starting to look a bit dry :icon_roll

Hmmmm... well - I love CurlySexyHair products... they are great! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I have also been using Biosilk's Rock Hard Gelee - which is awesome, but you only need a little, because it will get 'rock hard' :icon_wink You might also want to look into Alagio's crazy curl balm. It makes nice frizz-free curls, and is pretty inexpensive. (www.alagio.com)

As far as treatments, I love Biolage's Hydratherapie treatments. They are offered in a lot of salons, and you'll notice a difference with one treatment. They sell tubes of the 'between treatment' conditioners at Ulta which are great for home use. I managed to get the salon treatment vials at a trade show, but as far as I know, only the home kits are sold to the public. You could also look into the Biolage Conditioning balm conditioner... great stuff! ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

PS... if you order from the Alagio site, you should try the hydrating shampoo (it's blue) it smells soooo good... lol

Janelle turned me on to CurlySexyHair products. I love the Curl Enhancer. It defines my curls and it doesnt make my hair frizzy at all. I also like Dove's Mousse.

Thanks for all the great recommendations! I'm going to definately try some of this stuff out :icon_chee

I've been wondering about dove's products so I'll have to look into that. I'm definately going to check out CurlySexyHair products. i'm all about experimenting with hair prod right now.

My HG product for my curls is something I bought at Sally Beauty Supply on a whim...

Beyond the Zone's Noodle Head cream. It is LOVELY! Keeps my curls in shape without feeling like there is anything in my hair. And it makes my hair sooooo soft!

Shampoo and Conditioner are lost on me though... My scalp gets sooo dry that I have pretty much resigned myself to constantly using Selsun Blue Shampoo and Conditioner (Conditioner is actually pretty good!)

So far my fave curly hair specific products are by Bumble & Bumble called "Curl Conscious"...They make shampoo, conditioner and a curl creme for either thick/coarse or fine curly hair. Really fantastic products and really encourage lovely curls or waves. I also like a touch of Kerastase Oleo Relax on my curls to make them shiny when Im done styling (it takes a VERY small amount).

Just as an fyi - if you have curly hair and want to blow it out straight or smooth it more to wear wavey not curly...you can still use this product and it works fine so you don't have to have 10 different bottles of product or shampoo/conditioner in your bathroom.

there is this book i have called Curly Girl by Massey and Chiel

and its awsome on telling you what to use on curly hair and how to take care of it.

Hi I have wavy hair and use Aveda Be Curly. My hair has a tendency to be straight on the top of the head so I dont comb my hair and put some Be Curly in when its wet and leave to dry. My hair is then lovely and curly, defined with no frizz. I used to straighten my hair too but decided to go with the curls, its a lot less hassle!

I have had iffy experiences with B & B. I do love their Surf Spray though.

BTW, welcome to MUT!

I have wavy hair and I prefer gels to mousse. I like the LA looks mega mega hold gel (yellow). It gives me great hold and no frizz. I agree about the Curly Girl book. This has a lot of info on curly hair. Check your local library. That is what I did. Also check out the site jessicurl.com. She has a lot of great products for curly hair and she explains how to use them. Good luck!
