So like I haven't gotten my hair cut in forever, but this weekend I'm FINALLY getting it cut and darkened like I've been planning for the longest time. Anyways, 10% tip is good right? Oooooor is it more? lol

15% or 20% is the norm provided you are pleased with your hair cut and color and if you can afford it=)

:dito: For cut and dye, I don't pay more than $60. It's just ridiculously high for $200...considering the fact your hair grows so fast within 3-6 months, you'll have to get it cut and re-dyed. I rather just buy a coach bag for $200 which would last longer, BUT...that's just me :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I don't think $200 is bad, especially if you have long hair.

I agree with Angela, 15-20%, and if the person who shampoos your hair is different from the cutter, it is customary to tip them too.

200?!?!? Are you kidding me? Thats a lot of money just to go get you hair dyed and cut. I would try some place cheaper. Even tho its cheaper doesnt mean that you wont get the same service and that it wont turn out the same. Thats what Id do.

i read in cosmo if the person you go to owns the place then its ok not to tip.

I get my hair cut for 40 bucks so I understand how it can cost up to that much

A regular haircut for me costs around $30-$35.00. I usually give the girl about $10.00 cuz that's what I can afford.

Here where I live to go to the best Salon in town it cost 15.00 for cut & Style. It's a great place too. If I get Shampoo cut color hilights and style it's 60.00! 55.00 for dye with no hilights. Wow 200.00.... I agree I'd buy a bag for that!! I normally give her a 5.00 tip no matter what I get done. I think maybe I've been under tipping!

I leave 20% if I like the cut, then again I never paid more than $50 for a cut. I once spend $200 on my hair but I had to get the color stripped and it was a double process and involved toner and deep conditioning and she cut my hair too. I will never do that again

i have hair down to may waist and its thick as helllllllllllllllllll ive never payed more than $80 for cut and color. like a 2 hour salon visit. i tip higher though. its alot of hair!!!!!

Well it wasn't as expensive as I thought it was going to be. Came to $106.00... so I tipped her $20.00... is that good?

i have paid $150 for a cut and color but i have really long hair which takes more time and chemicals and i always tip around $20 if i really like it.. i think alot of places that charge alot really doesnt mean there better its just that there over head is higher

I agree!!!!

I also have long hair (to the small of my back) and when I get a cut and foils it costs just under $200. It's not really the person who is harging you, but the salon. I have been using the same girl for years and follow her to whatever salon she works for. So i've payed all different prices for her services.

I rarely tip as the salon I go to charges enough and anyway, I'm a student!! They have a job, whereas i don't. British people arent big on it. I think it's patronising.

That sounds like a good tip. I leave $10 on my $50 cut, plus another $2 or $3 for the woman who does the scalp massage and shampoo.

My 2 cents: Depending on where in the country you live, the cost will vary. It doesn't surprise me the cost could be around $200 being in LA. Also, it depends on the type of dying. Is the stylist using a cap, using foil, etc. I pay $100 for a cut and color, including tip. My hair dresser and his wife are the owners and the only folks who work at the salon, so he gets a tip. He's got a great following and I've been seeing the same guy for about 15 years.
