Will using semi-permanent hair color take orange tint out of hair?

hey, i was wondering if anyone knew if by using a semi-permanent hair color, say a little darker than your hair color, if it will take out an orange hue in hair even after it's washed out. i colored my hair a couple of weeks ago and have an orange hue on the top part of my hair. so just wondering how i can take it out.
