I'm wondering who here is an epilator convert. Over time I've increased the amount that I use my epilator considerably. The first time I used it I was like Woaaaah this HURTS!!! :icon_eek: :icon_eek: :icon_eek: and I didn't pick it up again for about a year. I think it was the whole challenge of physically hurting (rephrase: torturing) myself that was hard to overcome. So the next time I did it I decided not to wait the full 6 weeks for regrowth but just to do it more frequently hence less hair less pain. And now it's so much easier - I just epilate away happily while watching TV lol I even tried epilating the sides of my face (carefully!) last week after failing to find any nearby threading salons and it wasn't half as bad as I expected. Hail the epilator!

Any other epilator experiences?

Sorry..not me...I am such a wuss when it comes to pain..even tho it says it's only for the first few times..

I have an epilator and i dont find the pain too bad on my legs, but under arms.... OW! I dont use it very often tho cos i find it takes so long, only on special occasions or before i go on holiday.

i recently got an epilator and i fell in love with it. Initially it hurts when i first tried it on my arm pit. But i guess i got use to the pain that it doesnt hurt anymore. It's soo much easier than shaving. It's a lot cleaner as well. Will never go back to shaving. I've tried epilating my private part. It HURTS!!!! For that area shaving is better heeha.

I epilate. It does hurt at first but then you get used to it. I do my legs, bikini line and under arms. I have been doing it for a year and there are patches on my legs that have no hair. Yay! However, I just can't seem to get rid of ingrowns after I epilate. I have tried everything. I've tried Paula's Choice skin relief treatment, homemade tend skin, using a loofah and using deoderant. Nothing helps so I am going to stop epilating below the knee since that is the only place I get ingrowns. I have red spots all over my legs because of this. Not an attractive look. And with summer coming I want to try to get rid of them so I won't feel embarrased wearing shorts. I really wanted this to work but I will continue to use it on upper legs, bikini and under arms. Oh and Charmaine, an epilator is a device that you plug in and use to get rid of the hair on your legs, underarms etc. It rips the hair out at the root so the hair grows in slower and finer.

No Way Dude!!!!

I came to this game not for pain, know what I mean, Vern.?

Too many past lives to epilate!!!

Oh, sorry, I digress. No, I use the Panasonic Personal Groomer for my face in between waxings (o.k. they are no picnic at the beach but the salon I use...the girl does it real fast).

I Cannot pluck hairs out of my face. Sorry. I just can't.

Charmaine...I think epilation is a process that like goes underneath the hair shaft or something. I don't really know except it way too painful for me.

Ingrown hairs are a problem for me too even though I followed the exfoliation advice. I tried the homemade tendskin last week and it seems to be helping - let's see how it fares in the long run. I agree completely about red bumpy legs - the "plucked chicken" look :icon_chee

I epilate, and also prefer to do it every couple of weeks. Doesn't hurt, doesn't take a long time, doesn't drow back prickly and isn't messy like shaving and waxing. Love it. I'll epilate everything, lol :)

I epilate my "sideburns" and the fine fuzz on my upper lip, but am too scared to try it on any other body part. The hair there is so much coarser, it seems like it'll hurt like crazy! I've heard tons of good things about it from friends who epilate, and I might try soon, but not looking forward to it...

THe initial shave hurts a little but then u get use to the pain. My hair don't grow back think anymore. It's fine and soft. I'm so glad my friend got me to try this. Shaving causes more ingrown hair for me.

I have an epilator and have used it for legs and arpits. I think I did my arpits 2 times, but I stopped cuz it did hurt alot. But the results were great when I did do it. The hair didnt grow back until 2 weeks or so. Alot better than shaving. But it just hurt alot and it would take me a long time to do it cuz of the pain. :icon_conf My legs aswell. It hurt too much, and also theres a problem with ingrown hairs. Even if you exfoliate, you cant prevent them. So I guess it has its good side and its bad side. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Im to scared lol I tried it on my arm years ago & hurt like a biatch . Id rather wax at least its fast lol sure its still riping ur hair off but its bigger areas.

It was actually my face that I had to pluck (no pun intended!) up the courage to epilate - but it wasn't too bad at all and nice smooth skin afterwards :icon_chee

Maybe if you do it right after a shower it would be easier or less painful. I dont know ...... Im still scared lol :icon_chee. Have you all noticed this to make a dif?

I wonder if taking aspirin or whatever painkiller is recommended a half hour before you epilate would help. I mean, you read all the time in magazines and whatnot that you should pop one to alleviate the pain when you go get waxed. And there's also those creams spiked with lidocaine (I think) that are supposed to make it hurt less, again for waxing. But I figure epilating and waxing, they share the same principle.

I epilate and I love it, I wouldn't be able to go back to shaving every couple of days. The first time was torture, I did it with tears in my eyes one line at a time. It took me over a week to do both of my legs. And I couldn't stand the pain when it came to armpits, but I stuck through. Now, after using it for 2-3 years, I epilate my armpits about once a week and I do my legs maybe every two weeks or so. Sometimes I just let the hair grow for two months because it's very light and you can't really feel it that much. When I let it grow out some, I do my legs not missing a spot and it lasts for quite a while.

Remember don't wait for the hair to grow too long to epilate it. It tends to get really painful. I wait for the hair to grow back like an inch in a half to shave it off. But once u get use to it, it should be a breeze.

I read that epilating gives you a lot of ingrowns? Any of you ladies have problems with that? After just waxing I started getting a lot of ingrowns on my lower leg close to my ankle and my bikini area. It was horrible. So I stopped waxing there. Also, I have been wanting to try to epilate but because I have read about these ingrowns I am not to sure. Any advice please.

I personally don't have problems with ingrown hairs. Yeah, I do get some from time to time but it's not bad at all.
