okedoke, i am mostly native american, but i am mixed with ethiopian and french..sssoooo i have really really really thick hair!..also it is very curly, so i use a chemical no-lye relaxer for african american women becuase that is what my hair texture is like...even though i use the relaxer my hair is really healthy..no split ends, my hair or scalp is not dry or anything...but here is the problem...i shed..ALOT!...i shed soo much that after 1 brushing of my hair my hairbrush is no longer recognisable as a hairbrush and looks like some furry creature!..my hair is constantly on my clothes, clogging the drain...everywhere!..but somehow my hair remains super thick!..i don't know if this is healthy..or what?, there is no sign on damage at all..no thinning or anything, like i said perfectly healthy!

i need to stop sheeding like a siberian husky in arizona!...i don't even have long hair!

LOL! Sorry, but I have to laugh! My hair sheds constantly too, and I've noticed it sheds even more than normal when I'm due for a relaxer. I've read tips before on how to assist the shedding, but I've totally forgotten. I've gotten so used to it, it doesn't really bother me as much as it used to.

makes me feel better that im not the only one whose hair sheds all the time. seems like theyre is hair everywhere in my apartment.

Seriously, I have been thinking this whole time that I was a animal with all the hair that comes out of my head. I clean my bush, then BAM.. all that hair! And it comes out a lot in the shower also. I have shared stories with friends of mine and found out it is normal! Unless you are getting actual bald spots!

Shedding is normal, every 3-5 months. I know it seems horrible. Also remember, if your hair is long, just one of your hairs, curled up looks like alot! Things to be worried about shedding:

If you have had a medicine change

stress

had a baby

had a medical surgery

shocked your body, say, by losing alot of weight FAST

Those things are a good cause of extra shedding. Once you have had a shock to your body, it wil kill off a certain amount of hairs. But these hairs do not fall out all at once. That's why you thing you are shedding alot.

Now, if you are losing hair in patches or bald spots, these require a trip to a dermatologist to help you figure out what is wrong.

'Moonchaser's Sweet Success Oil'This stuff is great, here is a link that shows how much it has helped folks. It's very cost effective and easy to use, the smell is divine. It has all the essential oils that promote hair growth and help decrease shedding. Plus you can use it on the ends of damp hair, absorbs right into the hair and makes it soft and silky, not greasy. Her ebay user name is 'moonchiald' and if you'd like, I can give you her email address in private.

I just looked up that BBD stuff and it's $45! GADS. The sweet success oil I posted about is only $15 a bottle and it has an eye dropper so you can get the oil right where you want it with no waste.

i have the same thing, althou i dont use a relaxer, maybe i should..hmmm! but literally when i comb my hair after a shower, it definately looks like a furry animal trapped! i definately believe that its normal for people with A) very curly/wavy hair B) very THICK THICK... my god when i straighten my hair every 3 or 4 sections i have clear out my straightner!LOL

Every day we lose tons of hairs. I shed like crazy - especially in the shower. It's gross - and I have a particular aversion to any hair that is not attached to someone's head - even my own (imagine how I felt when I was FORCED to clean the drain the other day - I thought I pulled out an animal...shudder)

Use a good shampoo and condtioner. A condtioner that gives you a nice slip and tangles your hair easily so you loose less hair. try to aviod shampoos that contain harsh sulfates, especially the first 5 ingredents on the list. Try to use less heat, put your hair up. Perhaps you are allergic to somehting or a shampoo id causing it, perhaps dieteary. DOn't bUrsh your hair with a brush, use a comb.

Nexxus therappe and humctress condtion are good.

Hair shedding is normal. It's apart of the hair growth cycle, it's normal to shed between 50-100 hairs a day. So unless you are actively becoming bald, you have nothing to worry about.
